I remember great lectures I had from a history teacher back in my university in the 1980s. One semester. That's it. He was very old. This is every bit as good, and there's many hours of content. The Crusades are fascinating. Great job!
That was a great comprehensive lecture over the 1st crusade - I knew many pieces but not in this way, great format
A history that is rich, terrible and shows the struggle of man in one winding story , tremendous
Lovely video! Really hoping we get a second crusade documentary one day
I took a class on the crusades 10 years ago so seeing this channel and especially this lecture was a great refresher. This is so comprehensive and I look forward to watching more of these videos
As always thank you for the information in this video & keep up the great work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Superb research and presentation. Thank you
I thank you for your knowledge & excellent videos on this intriguing subject in history
Greatly enjoy listening to your lectures

A medieval channel is the best place for a gardening tool! Also thanks for the lecture. p.s. Any update on the show?
Fanboy of Asbridge and you, his Authoritative History was one of my first academic reads into the medieval period
Great lecture video! Can I ask where are you from? You know what really gets me is that in the UK pupils are not taught this kind of history! They will be taught about the industrial revolution which is all good but I think more people would be interested in this kind of history teaching
Thanks for your research
Happy Birthday... all the best
If too guess, this was very well done. I liked that some of the current cultural myths i believed in, i chose to dispel. Thank you.
Imagine if Alexius would have led the 1st crusade himself - that would have changed world history for ever

Not really. The Crusaders distrusted him and later he colluded with the Turks behind the backs of the Crusaders.

Funny coincidence: I was watching your documentary on the first crusade when I saw that you posted this.
In Greek schools, we are taught that Manzikert is our worst defeat ever. Ever. period.
I once heard that Peter the Hermits's gangly brown robe later walked itself down to Jericho or Arimethia (and then back again). Of course, Peter was in Constantinople seeking more supplies.

the great events of the 1st crusade constitute a well-laid base for an epic picture , in my opinion , why not until now never been thought of?

Why is there not a single movie about it? And why is the third crusade so much more popular in movies, games etc.?

Because sympathizers of Islam and contrarians love the idea of a wise Saladin ethos in opposition to Christianity - which they despise.

There is so much nonsense about “the crusades” floating around. Thank you for speaking the truth according to the sources.
