The *Finest* Aid Climbing In Dallas

Спорт

I found a fun Aid climb in Dallas, and I mainly aid climbed this wall because uhhhh I didn't have a crash pad and I didn't want to actually climb the hard part of the wall. I explain future plans here and what I've been up to. Enjoy!

I have heard so many content creators talk about the struggles of creating content and taking breaks form creating content. As a fewer I can say I want my creators to take breaks. It seems the best thing to do mental health wise.

It would be nice to learn the history of climbing (Who made up what steps or came up with names for steps), the pioneers, innovators, and founding fathers of this sport - especially if there is any footage of them climbing.

It's all good dude, we enjoy your videos whenever they drop. Don't stress about it. What I climb? I'm at 7a+, 7b. I do bouldering 95% of the time and I'm trying to lose weight, cause I'm probably too heavy to get to the next level. 5.10, 177 pounds. Gyms in Switzerland are mostly open, but you have to boulder in masks and that kinda sucks, but it's better than nothing of course.

Started training for the first time( in the climbing world)... I've got this question which most people who start training probably have. Am I making progress? ( Progress defined as setting a foundation to climb smarter and stronger) and trying to figure out how to measure that.... It's a frustrating thing to think about in the moment.

Just climb and have fun, be sure to mind good footwork, focus on your technique first rather then progress in the beginning. Technique is the long run will outweigh, out-climb and outperform any better climber then you think you could ever be. Learn to fall, really, learn it, start low and learn how to fall, try to land on your feet, bend your knees as far as possible and roll onto your back with a slight arch, the moment you hit the ground/mat you should bend down to the point where your behind touches the mat roll onto your back and relax into the mat backwards. Never ever trying to brace the fall by putting your hands back which is a natural reflex. unlearn it, that reflex, it will take a while, but practice it every time when you go climbing. Why no hands bracing, you could snap your wrists in an instant, if you make a higher fall. Seriously I have not heard or seen enough videos about this imho seriously important technique, learn to fall backwards, start low of course on a hold near the mat and progress until you can comfortably do this, from the highest boulder problem you can climb with confidence in the gym. I mean that, being able to fall from heights without having to worry how you will land, without breaking snapping your arms or wrist to me is a seriously valid and mostly overlooked skill. Especially when you progress to higher boulders and tighter shoes, landing on your feet will not always be the best option, so a good falling technique as I described. Imho opinion it is a really vital skill to have as a climber. YOu never know when you might slip on lose your grip. So really learn how to fall, you might look silly, but you will thank me for it later...and it will make your climbs even more confident. Some other tips, treat your holds like light bulb, meaning be soft and gentle to them, as if they are made of glass. Make moves with determination, meaning try to put your hands and feet in the position of most power and try not to re adjust, this means you will train mastery and precision at the same time. Also commit to the move, just try to make the move even if you think you can't... Try to do them as quickly as you are confident in doing them, speed training will help you immensely, clock yourself on a boulder you can do easily, and try beating your own fastest time three or four rounds in a row. Fun to do and will make you focus on your technique unconsciously. Always focus on your technique, footwork is key in this. I can't stress this enough. If you lock up on a problem and you are insecure or scared to move on, stop the problem and get off. Go back when you feel you can handle it, most of the times it's a power or insecurity problem. It's ok, to stop, focus on your progress instead of focusing on reaching a top. Don't feel bad about yourself because you can't send a problem, it's ok. Always try to move one hold further the next the time. Only move up a grade up you can confidently climb all the boulder problems in that grade, and I mean all of them, before the one you want to climb... Do this and you will progress in no time. And first and foremost have a lot of fun... I hope that helps, and have a magnificent day... Edit: watch channels like geek climber and rockentry and Robbie Phillips as they have some really great beginner friendly tutorials. Rockentry is now doing a beginner series with sarah who started climbing less then a year ago. And Robbie has a great series on shoes. Which will help you make things a lot easier. And of course this channel, which made my GF want to climb, but you are already here...SO yeah...

As the commenter above me just crushed it, I can only add: - There are so many factors that are going to affect your sense of progress: employment, location proximity, and personal goals. - Set reasonable or below average expectations for yourself and enjoy the experience. - Make sure to get enough rest between workouts, and I also prefer separate training days of non-climbing. - Binge watch Reel Rock - Remember that climbing is going to get so much better after we are through with the pandemic.
