@@ScotmanUK2000 Government has a long track record of promoting things that are worse for the environment pretending it is better. Most public transportation, busses especially, Corn based Ethanol(switch grass is way better), Hydrogen(comes from natural gas generating more CO2), killing nuclear, and pushing mining to countries that don't care about the environment. Electric cars are not one of those, there are many peer reviewed studies showing this, even factoring lithium mining. It fair to say EVs are not as much of an upgrade over gas car as people claim, but they are an upgrade in almost all cases. The only exception the rare case when about 80%+ of power comes from coal(natural gas is way better) compared to a Hybrid car.

@@jimhealy4890 It'll be the majority of consumer vehicles sooner than you think. You don't have the believe it, but the shift is happening already, similar to horse and buggy to car happened. You're currently on the "horse and buggy are here to stay" side of the coin. There will be a major shakeup in the auto industry and Tesla and 9 other Chinese brands will probably dominate. If we're lucky, Ford will be able to license some tech they need to stay relevant.

How can you slash prices by 100%? You'd be giving the car away for free and I don't see that happening anywhere.

People everywhere are coming to realize the lies of EVs. This will lead all of the reasons of why the EV project will fail. The sooner the better.

I think they should focus on small cars/trucks that are hybrid, not EV only. They could build affordable electric golf carts and small electric utility vehicles.

They have built these cars for years. Small EV like Wuling Mini EV, and hybrid cars like BYD Qin dmi, Li auto, and Aito(Huawei). These are very popular models.

In a country where most people evade fares when traveling on public transport, it is not worth buying any vehicle yourself. Strong people defeat their opponents by constantly surpassing themselves. Foolish people use self-comfort and self-deception to defeat their opponents.

Pay $100,000 with a loan two days later it's selling for half. Resale value?🤣 No wonder no one is buying.

Given most politicians seem to be born again incompetent, why does anyone think they will know anything about a hugely yechnical subject? They rely on advisers who are either grifting or dont know what they are doing or both. If they wanted a workable solution they shpuld have got engineers and proper scientists in at the proposal stage rather than just dropping the disasterous results of the activist/eco enthusiasts policies in their laps after they hit the buffers.

I would be buying EV when the battery can cover 1000 km so that I won't be searching for a place to recharge which is the problem. For the moment, I am looking forward for Huawei EV which is good looking and impressive coverage and good speed but still not available oversea unless they come out with better car like water energy or solar energy car. Chinese GDP is growing because the government goes deeply into debt spending many billions on useless infrastructure. And the rate of growth is slowing. The Chinese economy is very likely to enter "lost decades" of stagnation very soon, similar to Japan after its bubble burst in 1990. But for China it will be worse than Japan because the excesses are so much greater.

The EVs are nothing but some nice toys. Very toxic to manufacture and run, small mileage range, dependent. Perhaps just another attempt to make big bucks regardless of the environment for they are not what they are claimed to be. This is 21st century, Tesla in 1931 was running a Spear-Arrow on Schumann resonance.

Chinese companies are like lemmings. If someone starts are BBQ somewhere and it gets hot and goes really well just for a few months... BOOM whole streets of them till it is just TOO MUCH and nobody can make money anymore. The few competitive EV brands are way better than what we have in the states. I personally own an EQS580 SUV. It is priced at $130K. My firsthand experience tells me a $40K Chinese EV can beat it with no question. Guys, we are all proud to be American, but that pride should not turn us into ignorant, blinded fools. Why is there a massive build up of EVs in Europe at ports? And there are photos and videos from China of massive lots of EVs sitting in empty lots. Over saturated and no buyers. And European insurance companies aren’t insuring them because of delays in replacement parts. Do you really want a Chinese made car that sits at the dealership for months until parts arrive?

The problem with Chinese EVs are that they are superficially nice. The materials in the inside are crap. Compared to Tesla they catch fire way more often and fold like paper in a crash. There are images from China showing when Tesla and BYD cars crash into each other and dear god I would not want to be in the byd. Also manufacturing defects mold being the most famous one are common. Cheap prices maybe able to overcome that in China and developing world, but in 1st world countries, that will be tolerated by most customers.

Also in china most people live in appartments its a huge pain to get a charger in a shared space if you even have a fixed parking spot. same in europe having a private parking space is less than 1/3 of the population

Why would any rational person buy an EV anyway? You can only go about 250 miles before the battery charge dies. Then try to find a charging station that still works. Your EV has to be towed, (some towing companies refuse to tow an EV) it could be days before the battery is charged and you can drive it. When the battery has to be changed it is cheaper to throw the EV away and not fix it.
