I'm keeping an eye on combat due to 15, where the demos/waiting room (for download) I thought were going to be tastes of the combat, and not the full extent of it (save a few trinkets like unplayable party members and some small resources like primary color bombs (magic)). Articulate combat has been my draw for any FF game, so seeing it extremely absent in 14 and 15 demoralized my interest. However, the gauntlet styling has it's appeal, and is a better form for a showy combat style, which might give that grand story that's been missing in FF for a while it seems.

The PS5 is pretty good although the game is coming to PC in the near future if you have one you can play it there if not though lots of good games on the PS5

I feel the exact same way!! I was indifferent to it but after playing the demo, I am definitely excited and going to get it!! Great video!!!

No open world? Incredible 😌 I was not into FF15’s open world

Here is what I can say and my input. Someone with an eye for good photography and likely who has film experience, might be able to give you a proper analysis on how well the whole production process and execution of each scene flows in the game, but this is something I immediately noticed myself that was above every other FF game I ever played. Each established shot, camera view angles and the dialogue with excellent voice acting really make you feel that you are watching an HBO fantasy historic epic like GOT or Black Sails. The Cinema production was truly that immersive. We have had games like this in the past with stuff like Uncharted or Last of us, but I don’t think Final Fantasy as a franchise has ever reached this degree of high-quality scene composition. The balance and tone is just executed so well for each and every piece. So, this is something that really adds to the depth of the story and the immersion. So gamers out there looking for STORIES in there Final Fantasy games, this game has you covered and then some. The first 2 hrs ends on a shocking cliffhanger and there is still 45+ hrs ahead.

CBU3 has learned a lot from XIV development in terms of cutscene direction.

From someone whose been subbed to FF14 for about 3 years at this point, I had full faith in the story and music. FF14's story at it's peaks are as good as any video game story, and 14 has the best music of any of the games, especially with how varied the styles are. YoshiP and Soken have great track records, so I fully expected 16 to blow people away.

I had no framerate issues at all on my Playthrough. I was playing at 60FPS.

Ngl, I was going to buy it anyway but was tired of seeing the game in showcases. Luckily, I just decided to play that demo and it definitely blew me away. I’m also hooked on the story now.

FFXVI is the most Final Fantasy game since FFIX. Kingdoms governed and fighting over Crystals, massive summons, knights, dragoons, a hero thrust into adventure, betrayal, plus the aforementioned FF staples.....wait a minute, I just described Final Fantasy IV!

This is why more games need demos. Not just to make more sales but also to save us some money from a game that seemed cool but wasn't what we expected. I'm glad you enjoyed the demo, I need to dig into it more myself but I've been sold on the game for a while because of my history with FFXIV and I have all kinds of faith in CBU3. I feel you on the perfect dodge and parrying, its like a hit of pure dopamine when you get it right. Soken on music is always a good choice, and YoshiP knows what he's doing. I am sure it isn't perfect for everyone, but I'm in love and cannot wait for the full release.

It's so good to know FF is finally back in the public eye outside of FFXIV

Anybody who played FF14 for the past 10 years would not have doubted Yoshi-P and his team. This is like the FF12 that we deserved so many years ago. It helps that Yoshi-P is a huge fan of Yasumi Matsuno, the original creative force behind classics such as Tacics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics and later FF12 but he had to quit the project halfway through due to disagreement with management and his own burnout state. Ultimately, a FF game lives or dies on its story and on that note, I have zero doubt. FF14 is the greatest FF storyline ever told despite its MMORPG nature. Seriously, THE BEST.

I liked that magic is used for daily chores. I always thought that if you live in a world with magic, why not use it all the time? 😅

the story scenes depicted in nearly every trailer we've seen have all been stellar and a step beyond any voice acting and direction we've seen in video games, in my opinion. not sure why there was any doubt when it comes to that. i mean i know darker and grim settings are not for everyone, but it was clear this was getting a higher level of attention, care and detail.

They've finally made another Final Fantasy for adults. It's been awhile and it's weird seeing we ARE their main demo. It is no mistake that Clive is in his 30s. Final Fantasy 16 reminds me of the tone of Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions

Despite not playing the demo (suffering from a case of PS5-lessness) I'm finally sold on the game as well. I was right there being sceptical along with you, and I wasn't a fan of the more realistic violence, darker tone, color palette, etc, but I can look past my personal preferences and really enjoy what's being crafted here. I know it'll be awesome!

Relatable Video lol I was heavily turned off by the battle, but they won me over. Damn the demo is sooo goood. Also it cant help that i'mma 14 player, and heavily trust the main producer Yoshi-P when it comes to quality.

Guess I'll have to try the demo; if I start downloading it now, I might have it done by 2025...

Based on the demo and potentually even the entire child hood and young adult moment of the game is grade AAA quailty in terms of production, execution story presentation and scene composition, but unfortantly after you become an adult is when the game reduces it self to a lesser quality where instead the developers remove alot of the cinamatic immersion and replace it with slight camera dialogue scenes, it is a shame that it feels like the devs just gave up on providing a consistent high quaility experience and instead resorted to a more MMO model.

While alot of us have already dug deep into the story and gameplay because of all of the trailers and early analysis, it doesn't do the actual demo justice, I was MIND BLOWN from just 2hrs of play and I'm all in for next week

I love the demo, but what blows my mind? The DEVELOPER they were so confident that this game was going BLOW EVERYBODY MIND!🎉 They came in that press conference knowing damn well they had a winner. Trophy 🏆

Very strong goty contender for me if the whole game keeps this quality up. I knew it was gonna be good, but it went above my expectations.

Not into the western / medieval aesthetic at all, but I just knew underneath square would scratch my itch for a good JRPG - as much as YoshiP hates that term 😂

I would say this feels the most Final Fantasy. 16 to me feels like what early game FF4 would feel like in modern era

Had my doubts too, but my interest slowly grew over the demo. By the time the enemy infiltrated the castle and we followed Joshua, I was fully invested.

The eikon battle music was a banger but I don't like the use of the vocals. Instead of doing something cool they just do the exact same thing as the instruments

Got it downloading now so I can try it out when I get back from work in the morning! Last two I really enjoyed was X and X2.

Just finished the demo and immediately pre ordered lol. This game is going to be something special.

I fell for the demo, too, and pre ordered the game right away. I was so wrong. This game is just cutscenes and flashy combat. And the fights can be won the same way. Barebones RPG elements, lifeless world, uneventful towns. It's not worth it.

The use of soldiers in FFXVI, at least so far, is actually very Final Fantasy-like. The blight gameplay actually reminded me a lot of FFVI's opening section with Terra.

While I will admit that the FF16 demo changed my mind too, playing the full game reminded me to trust my gut instincts in the first place. I look forward to see what you think about the full game experience.

Yeah, I wasn’t very excited for this game till I played the demo and was blown away. Then I played the full game and was honestly bored half the time. I was soooo disappointed since I’m a huge Final Fantasy fan.

If you played any of the Ivalice titles... this is DEFINITELY a final fantasy.

This combat seems incredibly engaging and looking at the general aesthetic, I can see the ASOIF inspo. There will always be a place for cutesy anime styles, but the grounded and gritty realism more typical of low fantasy is a welcome turn. Plus the protagonist isn’t a moody teen, so feel like I can get my grown man on.

The combat feels so good! I was super worried it'd be too similar to FF15's lackluster take on action, or Stranger of Paradise which I enjoyed but did feel was a bit...stiff?

@@johnlawful2272 They did! There's some DMC DNA there, mostly in the movesets. But I think it's slower and more generous than your typical DMC game... for now. We know there's unlockable difficulties after beating the game where AI and enemy placement changes, which is exciting for those who like that.

Arguably the only thing better than not being disappointed by a game in the first place, is going in fully expecting a letdown, only to enjoy that feeling of surprised delight when you find your expectations have proven to be completely wrong in all the right ways. Glad you got to be "wrong" about this one.

Never got into GoT, will I like FFXVI?

Whoever decided to add ATL in the game give that person a raise!! Its so simple, but it adds so much depth to the world and characters! One of the soldiers was saved by Joshua. After this he decided to become a shield and keep him safe. It's the same soldier that is killed by Joshua's Phoenix transformation. 😢 this game is going to hurt my heart!

A big budget game without a full open world is so nice to get these days.

I felt the same way! But the demo has changed my mind. Square Enix think the slick with a limited amount of gameplay. But this at least for the 2 hours seem to hit all the FF beats of old. 9 more days

Its been that damn long since Hironobu Sakaguchi left square that now its the Nomura era FF games that are considered classic. Holy shit i didnt think i was that old. I stayed believing in this game since it was announced lmao. I had no reason to doubt because I knew CBU3 was good and once the dream team of devs was shown I had no doubt this game will probably be one of the best Final Fantasy games ever released

I heard the GOT comparison from the Easy Allies guys as well. Dude, I have to look into this game now since you and them have said some positive things about this demo.

have you played final fantasy tactics or final fantasy 12? i understand why you might think this doesn't feel like final fantasy but there are some really good ones out there that take inspiration from ivalice in a great way. this seems to be trudging along those lines.

Will it take GOTY from ToTK? Hard to say with only the demo to go on from. But one thing is for certain, FF16 has taken Best Soundtrack this year. The cinematography alone is good, but coupled with the music, which I say pairs well with the highs and lows on the screen, is something most games could only dream of. The only game I know that has paired music perfectly within a game is Nier Automata's Beauvoir boss fight. The ones who come close is FF14's primal fights, which happens to be the same devs of FF16. And yes, I have now decided to pre-order it after seeing what the demo had to offer. It might be GOTY at best, but its way better than what FF15 was at worst, which is already enough for me.

I was surprised by how quickly I got the feeling of ‘this is a final fantasy’. It’s do different from the older, classic games, but it nails that essence of complex storytelling, deep characters and even the way the gameplay enhances the feeling of the story. I don’t know about you, but I already felt shades of 4 - especially with Clive and Jill on the balcony, it felt like Rosa and Cecil. Within about 15 mins, it felt like coming home to Final Fantasy, I can’t wait for this game now :)

My ass is unfortunately too broke for a PS5 but I'm so glad it's looking as good as it is! Square Enix is trying really hard to right their wrongs lately. Was a big fan of FF7R, FF14 in general and I'm actually pretty happy with all the new IPs they're either publishing or creating, maybe not a masterpiece each but it reminds me of Squaresoft in the 90s with tons of JRPGs each year.

Creative unit 3 is the team working on this, they are a well team known for saving SE some face in their later years They are also known for managing the most profitable game for SQ till this day, FFXIV ARR, which for the record, was initially released as FFXIV and was a big failure for SE before creative unit 3 took over for it So yes, play the game, you have the best of SE developers working on it

As someone very against the constant ARPG attempts with Final Fantasy that keep failing instead of the tried and true turn based gameplay, watching the demo (imagine having a PS5 to play for yourself...) shows this may finally be the first time it works. Knowing Yoshi-P is in charge of this gave me some hopes that somehow he would whip the idea into something that works. And now we can say he's doing it again. The story, setting, tone, and gameplay all are out the gate great looking and I hope it holds for the full game for when I one day can play it. Only negative to the demo is the Eikon battles really look like they will be great only visually. From the demo and others they teased I worry they will play very mindlessly.

Aaand... the moment you say Game of Thrones is the moment I check out. I love political intrigue, but I prefer to pass on the gratuitous sex and violence.

I have never actually played a Final Fantasy game. I’ve watched my friends play them, I’ve watched reviews about them, I’ve always been interested but intimidated by the franchise, tbh. You’ve convinced me, how’s the time to play one.

Play FF7 Remake intergrade. That's a true modern FF game.

The demo is pretty good, my main complaint with it is that the performance on the 60 fps mode is quite bad. The game regularly drops to the low 40s and is quite noticeable. Hopefully they can fix it for the final version.

At least it was only dropping outside of combat all combat encounters were 60 except for eikon vs eikon fights.

@@8minato No way. The worst drops were in combat with Clive, even in the city looking around you have frames drop to the 40s. It stands out because the PS5's VRR range is from 48 to 120 fps so any drops below that causes noticeable stutter. I even turned on my framerate counter on my LG C1 and it drops. Hopefully they can fix it by the time it launches.

@@_n8thagr8_63 Yeah I've heard that too and maybe it's true although I don't know why they'd release a demo with performance issues to the public without even stating a message when the game launches to say "It's not representative of the final product". Regardless I hope they can fix it because in a game like this a nice 60 fps locked goes a long way to properly appreciating it imo.

Not for me, but the pixel remasters released on Switch this year so there is plenty of Final Fantasy this year

I was disappointed by the demo, but I'm glad people are liking it. I feel like it has good potential. I was just bored by the tutorial.

I was unsure not because of the combat just the game in general so the demo was make it or break it for me so I’ll be getting it for sure, I wanna know what happens next!

@@PelvicGamingwe just know from the relationship yoshi p established with the fans their was a sense of transparency and trust yoshi p built and we all had faith and wanted him to carry the torch for the series I think this demo just showed the rest of the fan base that yoshi p is the man and had the avengers of action combat coming together to form this game

Yeah I played all of 14 last year and had a blast. Easily the best game in the series since 9 imo. After that I had no worries for 16 lol.

Pelvic, I preordered it and had faith that Zelda and Final Fantasy could team up and dominate my playtime this year :) I literally *mild spoiler* rode a dragon in Tears then beat FFXVI demo, went to bed @ 2am happy!

I read the demo was an older version 1.01 I believe, but day 1 players will be playing on 1.03, so hopefully the frame rate issue will be resolved!

I was disinterested and doubtful, didn't care about the game, had absolutely 0 intentions even pissing in the direction of FF16, BUT, I'm a FF14 player, YoshiP and Soken are two names I cant just ignore. So I downloaded the demo, gave it a go, and now I'm annoyed I have to wait an extra week after the release date because I didn't fit the price into this months budget.

The demo was deceptive. I felt the same way too halfway through the game I just stopped playing it.

Not complaining but its actually only Clive that is playable though. he has different playstyles

I never doubt PlayStation exclusives.😂
