As a massive FD fan, someone who read the books and comic spin offs, this movie is clearly the worst thing to ever come out of the franchise. It has bold swings for a finale movie, trying to have two big visionary sequences and accidents happening. Minus maybe 2 kills, it has the most forgettable plot and characters. It’s messy, lazy, over-relying on 3-D that FD5 would later do as well but did it better there. Yeah this sucks but it deserves the beating it gets. Great review Michael!

@@strangemichaelhorror there’s a difference between writers hired to expand on source material and they understand what makes the fandom gravitate to said product, as opposed to FD4’s writer who thought that presentation is key for an installment. It shows when writers understand an IP, and can build onto it or tweak it to make it interesting. This writer and I guess studio/director banked on the superficial nature of the formula to make a movie and while it made a lot of money at the box office, fans saw through the BS. Thankfully they fixed it with Part 5 and sent it off on a good note.

I hated this movie. The Nascar theme could of been better, but was absolutely bad. One thing that frustrated me, was right after the vision and the lead gets everyone out safe, we get our first character killed off by a tire. I like the build up we got after in the first film, where no one was killed off right away, and the film build up each characters being taken out.

I haven’t watched this one or 5. I’ve only watched the first 3. Seen them a couple times. I picked up that 5 movie bundle that you have a few months ago just haven’t got around to watching them all. I rewatched the first 2 but that’s it so far. I love the 3rd one. I might rewatch that one tonight.

I finally watched 4 and 5… Man, 4 was awful! I agree with you about the nascar scenes. I thought that idea was cool, but the movie overall is just terrible. I don’t think I’ll ever revisit this film. I didn’t expect much going into 5 after how bad 4 was, but to my surprise I actually liked 5. I had no idea it was a prequel. I like how it ties into the first one. It had some cool death scenes. That laser eye surgery scene freaked me out so much! Lol I also love that Tony Todd was in it. I’m a big Candyman fan. Seeing him was cool, I wish he was in it more though. Overall 5 is decent. I’d watch it again.

@@fallen4vr Glad to hear you had a good time with 5, man! It surprised me a lot, when I saw it on dvd, way back in the day! Everyone seemed to really enjoy it a lot lol. I’ve actually only seen the first Candyman one time and never saw the others. I’ll have to check those out sometime, man.

@@strangemichaelhorror The first Candyman film is by far the best one out of the 4. I remember watching it with my cousins back when I was maybe 10 or 11 and it scared the shit outta me! Lol. I was afraid of mirrors for awhile. Lol It’s very nostalgic to me. The sequels aren’t great. I still like them because I like the character of Candyman but they’re not exactly good films. They’re still worth a watch.

Yes, this was a massive turd in the franchise for all kinds of reasons, but it did have its standout moments. The carwash scene. The chaos at the mall. Other than that, it had the worst beginning premonition, forgettable characters, wonky death setup plot/mini premonitions, lame deaths... It did have that bum who considers getting small change some bull shiz LOL

So I saw the teaser, but have avoided the actual trailer that recently released. I’m not an Alien fan almost at all, but I can’t wait to see what Fede Alvarez will do with it! He’s an incredible director!
