In the "Choose Your Fate" DVD edition of Final Destination 3, a newspaper blows by, revealing the two surviving characters from the second movie, Kimberly and Burke ran into each other at a hardware store and a Camaro ran through the store, knocking them into a nearby wood chipper. Kimberly's coat was tangled and was snatched into the machine. Burke attempted to save her, and both were dismembered. Since this is an alternate, this may not be considered to be canon. So those characters may still be alive.

Glad you continued! FD2 and FD5 are my favorites, but for different reasons. Timmy from the dentist sequence was originally... nine years old, I think? ... but the studio felt he was WAY too young to kill in such a brutal fashion. All of the car crashed in the opening sequence were done practically, which I think really makes a difference. What's interesting is that most of the logs are digital! Twenty years later, I think the VFX holds up pretty well. Roxy, you are correct -- we never thought we'd be making a sequel so we were kinda making it up as we went along. Greg, you are also correct -- usually most of the character work in these movies are cut out after previews. People just want to get to the kills ASAP. [Apologies for some copypasta] Two interesting notes -- the scene in the car where they all realize they're connected to the survivors of Flight 180 in the first movie? The studio wanted to cut that scene. We had to shoot other scenes faster to earn it, and even then they didn't want it. And it's the most critical scene in the movie! Sigh. They also didn't want to shoot the scene where Rory tells Kimberly to hide all the stuff that might break his Mom's heart. We snuck in two takes of the scene without telling them -- that's why it's in one shot with no coverage. And finally, Roxy, it's staties -- I'm a Masshole myself.

After seeing reactions, I had to buy it so I could watch it more than once, and it's actually my favorite. Not to give anything away, the first premonition scene is my biggest fear in 5. Maybe that's why I chose it over 1 and 2. But if there were no reactions to 5, I would not have bought the movie or even watched it. My favorites are 5, 1, 2, 3 and 4.

The fact that the opening premonition in FD2 is mostly practical with v. few exceptions is probably why it was so effectively terrifying at the time and to this day. Also, I'm so glad that ya'll fought for the scene that connects it to the first movie. Part of the reason this movie series is so enjoyable is how all of them are generally connected to the original.

It is absolutely Death giving the signs. They are the things that directly lead to the deaths. When Kimberly yells towards Tim "Pigeons!", That is when Tim notices them and gets the idea to scare them off. If Kimberly hadn't distracted him, he most likely would have just continued his conversation with his mom about the dentist and walked past the birds.

  • @AshLee92490

@redfox3334 Or the pigeons that the sign was originally referring to were the pigeons that led to the kid being suffocated, but it also saved the mother from being electrocuted. Why would Death give a clue to Alex about the bus in the first movie, the seatbelt, . Why would Death give them clues to help them cheat it? Why give the premonitions in the first place? They all seem like warnings and only those who are paying attention or in tune with what's needs to be seen... I feel like Life chooses those who would take heed to their warnings and be proactive in helping the others. If it had chosen other characters like Carter, Billy, the dope fiend, the mom & son, the motorcyclist, etc, they orobably would be so quick to help everyone else. Even Clear might not have been proactive to save everyone on that plane. Clear was clearly an empath though, therefore, someone very in tune so although she never saw the vision Alex had, she felt everything he felt and she later had her own vision (or just her empathic feelings being triggered, maybe giving her a sign in a way that would connect to her instesd of an actual vision?) that saved Alex in the end. I think this is the doings of Life, not Death...

@@langdonledwig3734 Because everything that happens in these movies IS Deaths actual design. The ending proves it the most. We learn that all of the characters in this movie were prevented from dying in other accidents because of the cast of the original, so they, along with the us, believe that to be the reason they are all targeted now. If the original cast hadn't survived the plane, everyone in this movie would have made it to the places they should have died. None of their situations they escaped were prevented, they just weren't involved in them. Then this cast crashes into a farm and at one point the son on that farm is almost run over by a news van that is there because of the big crash, but Rory saves him. We then see Death come for that kid at the end, but if they had died in either of the previous accidents, they would have never crashed in that farm, then the kid would have never been run over by a news van in the first place. That kid was ALWAYS meant to die standing at that gas grill.

Couple things: Highway to hell made me do a spit take, the practical effects for creative kills especially are definitely the best part of this one, this franchise is quite literally THE best at making you fear the mundane (just wait til next movie), the main character Kimberly is played by AJ Cook who is great as JJ on Criminal Minds, and lastly death is the funniest character of the franchise. Edit: Also, I absolutely love that you guys reacted worse to the typical dental work than anything else (I do too every time I watch this). And the twist at the end shocked me the first time I saw this and now I think it was simply well done.
