The “Fall Off”

Ойын-сауық

Anything good can turn sour. And in the cutthroat world of hip-hop, even greatness can eventually turn into a cross to bear. In a genre that demands more and is always looking for its artists to up their game, both the hyper-competitive make-up of the industry and the unmatched ruthlessness of the fanbase has meant that reaching the top isn’t always the final destination, but another obstacle to navigate.

Drake is never truly going to fall off in terms of success. The decline is in the quality of the music bc he knows that anything he drops or is featured in will do well on the charts. The real problem is that Drake fans think that all of his songs that reach the top of the charts are the best songs they’ve ever heard. I’ll still listen to his music but a lot of his current stuff doesn’t hit the same as his music from 2011-2015 Edit: Honestly... nevermind.

The whole concept of “falling off” is what’s hurting artists and our perception of them. The only thing that should be considered when talking about an artist falling off is their quality of new music. Commercial success and overall perception shouldn’t matter. Artists shouldn’t be worried about billboard and critical acclaim when trying to express themselves through music and making a great product.

Except, with Nicki the same respectful and balanced conversations around mental health aren’t usually applied. Her career and impact has put her in a position that can’t be surpassed. She’s currently on her longest ever career Hiatus and announced retirement last year. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

At the end of the day, we're all people and big icons like such in the video have to know that, music (although it's a passion and outlet) life has way more to it than "goat status".
