You completely skipped over the fact that we have the autumn sale going on and that the winter sale is right around the corner. Historically during big sales cases are the first thing that get mass sold off. Also this autumn sale had the release of OLED Steam Deck and the discount of the normal Steam Decks. This absolutely caused a lot of downward pressure on an already fragile market.

No it’s cs2 the game was launched with less content than csgo and gameplay wise it’s 10x worse than csgo. There are less actual buyers and the cases being opened are streamers opening 10,000 cases a day. Actual players are not buying cases because skins are worthless, if they want a skin they buy it outright.

@@brennancondon3357 Sounds like you just had higher expectations then what Valve ever promised. I can understand why Valve removed unpopular game modes. Flying Scoutsman/Danger zone was totally dead and I only ever managed to que up with bots recently. Valve has always been a "Gameplay first" development team. And I think the CS2 gameplay runs just as fluid as CSGO did. Did you ever play CSGO when it first came out? Because I did, and it was literally in the same shape as CS2 is now. Barebones with focus on the gameplay first. The new game modes, operations and all that good stuff will come in due time. You just gotta be patient, and if you need to take a break from CS right now thats fine too. Because you know damn well as soon as they announce a new Operation or something your ass will be right back to playing.

@@toastedninja4081 I have been playing cs since source my guy, I knew cs2 would not live up to the hype. I probably spent 10 hours out of the 7k I have in the game on the other game modes, I understand how bad the csgo launch was. That being said gameplay wise it took a step back with how bad peekers advantage is, the fact that for whatever reason they just took maps away like train and cache that had high play rates, gun spray feels awful, pros are not even buying awps on ct side because run and gun and peekers advantage is so bad, the rank system feels pointless, and many other issues. Valve has always been gameplay focused yet the gameplay on launch still felt like it was in an alpha state. They have had to do almost daily patches to fix game breaking bugs, and there seems to be more false positive bans then actually cheaters getting banned. I will always love cs and will always play it, but your fooling yourself if you think gameplay wise it’s up to par with what csgo has been for the past 5-10 years.

I think, since the way the drops work, where you don’t have an increase in drops after a certain amount of hours, it doesn’t correlate well with playing time. People play let’s say 20% less maybe, but a lot play just enough to get the drop so it results in marginally less drops. I personally used to play more, but now I play just enough to get the drop because I am curious to what will drop (even if it’s 99.9% shit ).

another possibility is some whales of these cases are selling off a bunch of their supply thinking CS2 is going to die, so theyre undercutting eachother, which is happening with skins as well. that wouldnt solely account for almost a 50% drop, but its probably still a factor. would explain the big supply increase lately

Relationships between these metrics are not strictly linear and they may be lagged as well. Either way, if you go check the volume of cases being sold on the market, we're having unusual spikes lately, probably initiated by whales selling to buy orders to cash out rapidly. Following that, panic selling ensued.

I'd hold depending on what cases you have. If you aren't hurting for money, the cases will go back up for the most part. Some cases may have been overhyped and will take a LOOOONG time to go back up. But crashes cause a positive feedback loop (positive doesn't mean good) of sellers dumping. Likely they'll start to rise again slowly and then crash again (holders selling/new operation) then rise normally. I could be completely wrong and they'll never recover, but that seems unlikely. That would take new laws/regulations hitting Valve that does that.

Maybe people are opening more cases because the price of the cases are lower?

i think that the cs2 news that the game is just mid made people sell their cases and that is why prices went down

Maybe next time check the WEEKLY openings instead of monthly. In the last 7 days, only 5,5 million cases have been opened, which would be around 23 million monthly. Basically the same as pre CS2.

i think alot of mass holders are dumping taking profits atm, u can see it clearly in agents the price movements are just oo odd and most of the people selling are selling alot of multipuls same shit in stock markets, prices are way higher than they were months ago

its simple, people who mass invested in cases are slowly selling now, be it to buff/trade sites or steam market

and maybe crypto have something to do with the current CS 2 market, it has always been when crypto prices go up, the prices of everything in the CS2 market are go down, and vice versa.

..... Cases drops in price bcs : 1. People collect money to buy new OLED Steamdeck - main reason. 2. People prefer to sell stuff from CS and save money becouse they know if they wont stop now then the lose more later. That is all. Sooner or later situation will be stable

There is always a lag between the actions of the public and statistical changes. People were not selling their cases, when they were stable, or increasing in prices. As skins started dropping in price, people started selling their cases, or turning them into now cheaper skins. Unlike the expensive skin market, which is just a portion of the player base, case total comes from the player base overall. So the skin market going down was a chance for a lot of players to finally get the stuff they wanted, while the demand for cases did not grow. The statistics about the amounts being opened and dropped are useful here only to describe the process by which the price drop will be slowed down, not determined.

I think you missed the part when CS2 launched. F2P players coming doesn't get any CASE drops unless they buy prime. And I think, investors are cashing out. that's why the influx of cases are coming in

Account Creation and Prime Purchases 4th Q Boost for Valve. Bots farming every account = market being flooded. Also, Not going to open my cases till game is fixed with ID verification and valid anti-Cheat. ID Verified Keeps Smurf Accounts out of Ranked 1 man 50 accounts in top 1000. Keeps Banned Players out of the game. Them must verify ID again and fail because of banned. Until this happens, I'm not opening any to support the game and selling on market to drive prices down.

Buy Low Sell High remember Guys CS Gamblings Addicts never quit they just take a Break. I am gonna wait for Dreams Nightmare to get lower and buying some cheap Prime Cases. Rare Cases are pretty good if you want it to be more stable as example the Dangerzone crashed from 1€ to 0.80€
