The things are "bad" for high tier skins, for cheap skins they keep rising cause a lot of new players want budget skins...

an issue that i feel like not enough people are talking about is the fact that a huge amount of skins are held by investors instead of players, people who came from crypto/nft and are trying to profit without understanding much of the game itself. i think where this really showed was when the steam market had issues for 2 days and many people couldnt list their items (a few months ago). when the issue was fixed, a large backlog of items flooded the market and people who wanted to get rid of their items quickly undercut eachother. makes sense, higher supply -> lower price but this should have corrected itself after a few days when the oversupply was gone again. instead, a bunch of investors, without understanding why, saw a drop in the market and started panic selling, which lead to a huge price drop. this type of irrational behaviour increased to volatility of the market to ridiculous heights. its the reason why i cashed out everything when cs2 dropped.

​The swap to CSGO was way worse lmao. Nobody played the game for a year...and for a good reason trust me.

when GO came out it felt so horrible, I played source for another 3 years. But I can see why they removed GO as a game, thinking back when both 1.6 & source had more players than GO in its first year was wild. As you say, CS players don't quit, we take breaks. Hopefully this game doesnt take 3 years to feel like CS again though.

It didn't felt horrible. You were just found it difficult to adapt from CSS since GO was so different. 3 years later you just accepted the reality and adapted to the game

fine with me I bought into the market when CS:GO with it's infancy and I've turned around and sold boxes and skins and it's helped me supplement my income with buying other games on steam for me , my friends , and other family members.

My inventory is only down like 1-2% this week. Its still up 8% vs when cs2 released

A good thing prices went down, as the players who've been saving their money to get that damn expensive but nice-looking skin that they've wanted for YEARS could finally have a chance to buy them at a significantly lowered price. I said significantly because I couldn't predict just how low it will get before it went back up again, as right now it is -10%, in the next few months it could probably be at -30% or +15%. I do not know.

I'm honestly considering this crash as a bit of a good thing since knife and glove prices on places like skins monkey have dropped like £20 So for someone with barely any cash it means I can buy cheap and hopefully get some extra cash once the markets go back to normal

i think prices will drop $100-300 the currently prices they are right now. Probably best time to buy is december/january where the market will feel alot safer because nobody wants to pay $1000 for a skin and see it become a $600 skin in a few months time

Im convinced its the mega high teir items influencing the total market. The stuff wales have inventories fullnof like high end sports gloves and butterfly/karambit dopplars/blue gems. My inventory has literally been going up and up. It took a bit of a dip in the last week but 1 week ago it was at an all time high and it’s just normal playskins, low tier knife gloves. Rio, sh, aw, mlg 16 etc

One thing in this price spike since cs2 released that ppl don’t talk about is that it is quite rational though. I have a decent amount invested in cs and I regularly ask myself the question; where will this game be in five years? With the release of cs2, at least for me, the answer to that question became a lot better than before with the chances of it still being an active top tier game a lot higher. So for me the future of the market looks brighter than before which should give a good boost to he skins values. 25, 50, 100% who knows? But I can’t think of a single event more important for the long time value of skins.

as an old player coming back i never had a ton of super good skins but now that theyre low i love it and an buy. i also dont come back or leave based on skins, usually whatever the friendgroup plays

This is just a correction, cs skin prices will just continue to rise in the grand scheme of thing.

Okay So I got an Awp Containment Breach that I bought for like 50$ out of my real money (the rest through cases). The awp is double now Should I sell it soon and keep the money on my Steam wallet ? Ultimatly I want to get those 50 back or buy a decent knife. What Should I do ?. Thx

The servers and the anti cheat are the biggest issues by far. All the issues with hit reg and character models not syncing up etc can and will all be fixed but the fact that CSGO went all that time with Valve not bothering to really improve the anti cheat or simple reach into those deeeep pockets for 128 tick servers tells me that they aren't going to do it this time either! I gave up on CS2 for now and i'm not sure if i'll bother really coming back to it.

All of the skins in my inventory just keep going up, nothing is dropping in any significant way.

the crash is of high tier and mid to high tier skins, skins under like £100 havent really been affected

people either don't realize or don't remember, it took valve a year to add the Arms deal update that completely changed the outlook of the game, and operation payback obviously brought in new content for people to enjoy. I'd expect a big return of players when the first cs2 operation starts.

my inventory is holding value since cs2 release, but this is good thing since its only high tier skins getting hit by this. Some skins reached ridiculous prices since cs2 announcement and it was matter of time when price is gonna crash.

The bubble is simply too big and even though it may fall down, it won't fall down entirely and they still will be worth more than before cs2 was announced. And honestly even if Valve implemented 128 tick servers, I dont think it would cause that much of player base improvement that some people think simply because most people that are protesting for it are still playing the game and it isnt something that would make them buy skins.

Well guys, ngl i predicted it even before the release of the game. As a long time crypto and financial student/investor I can say that what happened here is the exact same that happened and happens over and over to every financial assets. I learned that the first rule is that the masses are never right and for sure everyone can recall the times in the beta where every content creator was saying that with the release of the game the prices will skyrocket... well as you see it went the opposite way. Every new crypto token during the release will dump and CS skins acted exactly the same, and trust me, it's not about the game, bugs or anything like that, it wuold have happened even if it was the most perfectly balanced game ever, it's just the law of the market and human psychology.

Only the super expensive, 1k+ items are taking a significant hit. Most stuff 250 and under is only down a small amount from max ever. All my stuff is still notably up from cs2 launch, and WAY up from cs2 announcement. Cases have actually went down a little, but not a ton, either. Still a little up from cs2 launch.

Screw the hype riders, old players like us see CS2 as a new opportunity for great growth for years to come. This sort of market fluctuation is nothing compare to the many meltdowns that Csgo have had in the past. It’s simply a market adjustment to correct the overinflated price. In the end, the skin prices are still much higher than before the CS2 announcement. I see this as an absolute win for the skins to stabilize so we could buy the skins we want again and enjoy stable rise in value as the game progress. CS will never die, and those who claim so can dream in their afterlife.

@@NooseKey and the same was said when csgo came out "ermagerd source was so much better". the only issue this time is Valve decided to stop the community being able to continue playing csgo whilst CS2 evolves. This new game will have its teething issues but in time it will evolve and improve.

It's a gamble either way, CS may have next to no players in 3yrs time, it could be the biggest Esports game there is... Either way, i'm dumping all my skins while they're still worth close to what i paid and use it as a deposit on my first house, a far better long term investment than anything based on pixels...

After playing csgo religiously for ten years, I stopped playing a few weeks ago and I don't miss it a bit. I have zero desire to even launch the game anymore. Skins look so bad, that I'm just trying to forget that I even own them. Some maps are too washed out and the brightness and contrast are so off that I can't even tell what phase my dopplers are. Everything about cs2 is stupid af!

It's interesting how few people talk about the reality of cheaper skins, most of which have gone up drastically in April but then almost immediately went back down and are now trading at prices similar to February 2023, before cs2 was announced. Many skins are now at prices below February 2023 and have been for a while. But nooooo the skin prices are overbought and we'll see a huge crash and we're already seeing a huge crash and be prepared for worse. It's almost as if you had a reason to have the people panic sell and bring the prices lower, only for you to invest at even lower prices. Oh wait...

I quit CS2 not because of its problems but because I got griefed one day pretty heavily (3/4 games) and I just said to myself it’s just not worth it. It does not bring me enjoyment. Idk what caused this because I have been on SoloQ for years in CSGO and the experience was (strangely enough) generally pretty good.

It should be noted that the crash has mainly affected higher tier skins, $1k+ 90% of my low tier coverts $250 or lower, are currently at the highest prices i;ve ever seen them... Awp wildfire Deagle code red AK Empress Scout dragonfire p90 asmiov mac 10 stalker ETC...
