When you think about it the males have a very hard life period after they leave their birth troop, it can take years to get excepted into another troop and if they are lucky after a few or more years to become a alpha then if they are lucky 5-8 years there than they are back on their own again on the streets till they die😢

I don’t think anyone really knows. Skullhead was an institution on Monkey Hill. I believe he was the longing running Alpha of all the troops. Even when he became old and frail, his troop continued to treat him with respect

Isn’t it because they aren’t strong anymore. Maybe they are seen as weak and less capable of leading and protecting the troop. I seems unfair and sad, the life of the troop is what’s important, 😢

Inbreed is rare among the Rhesus macaques but do sometimes happens. It's up to the female to say no to a male. Often when an alpha males daughters reach a reproductive age the alpha often get ousted but not always. Most Females in a troop do prefer to mate with unfamiliar males so much that they prefer outside males over high ranking males from their own troop. 🤓🇸🇪

Is a male always ousted by another male ? Does that mean Lowina's troop has a new king?

No. It's up to the alpha female. She can side with another male and oust the current alpha or she can take help from the rest of the females in her troop. It's the alpha female who accept a male or not. 🤓🇸🇪

@@ML_SE I see. Thank you for clarifying. I didn't know a female, even if she is the matriarch, could force a male out. They just look so strong and larger than a female.

I remember him mentioning Fluer but not Petal. I started watching in 2019 or 2020, and he would see and mention her from time to time. Man, Jodi is on the rampage against Mr AM. I think after the second or third rush at hom I would have moved on. An angry monkey is nothing to antagonize.

@kkossor I still think I would have quietly backed away. Their canine teeth are sharp, and I wouldn't want to anger one of them. I know he isn't antagonizing them, just with that attitude, I wouldn't stay so close. But then I am not Mr AM.

@BrittanyBuckland-yr8pc I have been watching his videos since Teeny was a baby. I am sorry if you think I meant he was antagonizing the monkeys. I was coming from Jodi's point of view. She was upset and acting aggressively toward him. So she seemed to be all hyped up as if she was antagonize, not necessarily by Mr AM. By too much going on. I merely stated I wouldn't want to antagonize a monkey . Also I pointed out I wasn't Mr. AM, who is very familiar with a great many of Monkey Hill's furry resident cousins.

Any idea who may have replaced Leo as alpha?

What will become of Lowina since she doesn't give birth anymore. How is new alpha female determined?

Mr AM mentioned in a comment on the B-virus episode, that he has indeed been bitten a few times, even drawing blood three or four times (if I remember correctly)! Would be interesting to know what lead to those specific incidents! I kind of thought that the Golden Hill macaques would have to be provoked before going to that length, but then again, what they take as a provocation is maybe not intended to provoke?

This use to be a good channel. Now it's NO BETTER THAN THE REST. Most of the time is nothing but babies being bitten for something. Whether it's weaning or punishing. Some of them are worse than DOG FIGHTS.

JODI is PROBABLY SICK AND TIRED OF YOU PEOPLE CONSTANTLY VIDEOING AND ALWAYS IN THEIR BUSINESS. Why the hell can't you people just LEAVE THEM ALONE
