The Faberge Museum in St Petersburg, Russia. Exploring The Best Jewelry Collection of Russian Empire

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In 2004, Viktor Vekselberg, the Russian billionaire businessman, purchased the largest collection of Karl Faberge Eggs from the family of media magnate Malcolm Forbes for $100M before it was taken to the auction.
This is how the largest collection of fourteen Faberge Eggs got back to its motherland.
After this, Vekselberg created the “Link of Time” Foundation with the main mission to repatriate lost cultural values of 19th-20th centuries to Russia.
In 2006, the foundation began the restoration of the famous Naryishkin-Shuvalov Palace located in the very heart of St Petersburg, Russia - 50 meters off the corner of Nevsky Prospekt and the Embankment of Fontanka River.
It is required the highest professionalism of the restorers and 7 years of time to finish the renovation of the palace and managing the Museum of the collections of the House of Faberge and other significant Russian jewelry companies operated in the times of Russian Empire.
The Faberge Museum opened the doors for visitors in November, 2013.
Since the significant purchase of the largest collection of Faberge Eggs and creating the Foundation, the collection of the museum grown up to over 4,000 items - silver plate, interior, cult and phantasy items, series of military medalions, watercolors, cigarette cases and snuffboxes, tea and coffee sets, tableware, candlesticks, samovars, Russian silver, portrait and photo frames, stationary, figures of animals, watches, bells for servants, brooch, enamel stuff and icons.

The Russian Court was the most splendid of all courts! The Winter Ball of 1903 presented the largest collection of Royal Jewels assembled in the 20th century. The diamonds were the size of large eggs! Czarina Alexandra’s clothes and crown were sewn with pounds of precious gems! Show us more treasures, please! We need several tours of The Hermitage! It rivals the Louvre in terms of size and splendor! Great job, Sergey!

I got to see a large collection of Faberge back in 2009 at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, Ohio. It was called: Artistic Luxury, Faberge, Tiffany, Lalique. It was magnificent! The Cleveland Art Museum claims to have an egg on loan. It’s the Red Cross one. Loved this video. 🥰

Through this video I learned about the Russian Icons and their important in the Faberge collection as well. It very unique and beautiful collection. Johnathan, thank you for appreciation! The problem of “quality content” is that for it is usually goes bad on KZread. It’s algorithm based on reactions. So you do stupid things and people react on it, so it creates activity and KZread consider activity as way to go for the video and puts the video into recommendations.

This was very nice! Incredible how just one city can have so much to see and do. There should still be a Faberge STORE in Saint Petersburg, separate from this museum, I believe in the original building the store was in over 100 years ago... but not much info on this store in English on the internet.

  • @baklykovlive

Not the store of Faberge, because the House of Faberge in St Petersburg never recovered after the Revolution of 1917, but there is the biggest jewelry center called “Faberge” which is belonging to the leading St Petersburg jewelry company called “Russkie Samotsvety (Russian Gems)”. I was making a deepest inside to their factory which is located on the Karl Faberge Square in St Petersburg - kzread.info/dash/bejne/nIOVrdelj7SxYcY.html

@@baklykovlive That video was very interesting too! The "Faberge" store in Saint Petersburg, (not the museum), shows it is located at Bolshya Morskayu Ul. 24, I have no idea if they are still open, but when I was there maybe 5 years ago, they sold a lot of silver objects and jewelry, and those enamel type frames. I have no idea what is authorized and what might not be.
