The Evolution of the Tesla Model S over 10 years

Tesla started producing the Model S in 2012. At that time Tesla was a young company trying to move from hand-built Roadsters built off a Lotus Elisa chassis to full scale production of a four door sedan. They wanted to prove that an electric car for the masses could look beautiful and be functional, and the Model S did that.

Very nice to see this video. Our first Tesla, a MS was delivered in February 2013 - one of the first 4400 to be built. So it was very similar to the one you have in the video. It had the 85KW battery. We replaced it in October 2021 with a new MS long range. We included FSD with it and have been using FSD since last January. Interestingly, we paid almost exactly the same amount for each car. The first one had a $10K rebate ($7500 from Federal and $2500 from California). The extras included paint and interior color, and some extras that are now included. The only extra which is not available anymore was the extra row of seats in the trunck. The second one had a $1500 rebate from California and the price included $10K for FSD and extra for paint color and interior. Super happy with both.

Glad to hear you're happy with both!
After 8 years my 2014 Model S still going strong! Love the new version! Thanks for the video!
Great video. I didn’t realize that the drag coefficient had improved over time.

Thanks Morgan!
I’ve noticed that a LOT of higher end cars have adopted many of the exterior styling features of the Model S. In a world where “Form follows Function”, I’d think these others are searching for the 2.04 drag coefficient
Nice summary of the first decade of the model S! And good to have a new podcast from you- hope all is well in your world;-)
Good to see you coming back.
Hey Sean! glad you are back! excellent video! I love the new Model S, but I have a Model Y now that fits me perfectly! Please do not go away for so long again..I always enjoyed your video's.

Same here. I was super happy with my 2015 Model S, and I think the new S is awesome. I sold the S to get a 2022 Model Y and have no regrets. The Model Y is a better fit for my needs.
And Forbes had an article out today about gm Dominating Tesla 🤦♂️ along with a bunch of ads below for chevys lol
Seeeaaan!! Welcome back jack 💪🏼👍🏼

My very first EV. And an absolute 💯 blast to drive
David Attenborough of Tesla
Sean Mitchell is back!!! 🥳🥳
Great video. I think the Model S needs a revamp. Perhaps with an Anniversary Edition? Sold first drive (still waiting for the money to buy it however)
Nice to see a new video from the Running Man after such a long time. Have you updated your Model S or still sticking with your older Model S, Sean?
It will be very interesting to see what they do with the next gen design. I think it will be similar to Porsche where it's the same shape and overall look for decades.
They need to add a place to hold a bowl of chips🤣 The S is a beautiful vehicle! Having kids in car seats(almost out of them) I prefer my X with the falcon wing doors to get them in and out easier. And the butler doors can't be beat. Can't wait to see your video on your first ride in a production Cybertruck!

I ask myself the same thing everyday! 😆
I apologize in advance for requesting a video from you about Nikola Tre BEV on a Tesla related video; Nikola has made huge strides so far - it would be good for Nikola community to see your comeback and make Nikola related videos when you can or when you feel. Full disclosure: I am an investor in $NKLA.
I honestly think many of the "improvements" were not. I prefer the old AP0 nosecones, although the MCU2 computer upgrade is a must. The pre-AP speed and energy gauge is the best design ever.
I have a PLAID! Freakin amazing car!!
I would love to buy a Model S Plaid some day. Maybe in a few years when they start to show up on the Tesla Used Inventory page. Great cars!
