Autopilot started in cars from October of 2014. My car which I bought in December of 2014 has it. There was a huge difference in price of cars in 2014. My P85D had $46,700 in options. Most was due to duel drive motor and dual performance motors. I also uograded from insane mode to ludicrous for $5,000 in early 2016.

I recently went from a 2015 MS70D with coil suspension to a 2018 MS75D with air suspension. I have to confess I miss the 2015's softer ride and a better feel to the steering.

Very good video. I have a 2016 Model S and I have upgraded the MCU2 and CCS combo. The only thing you didn’t mention was the door handle problem on earlier models. All 4 of my handles had to be changed at a cost of over £300 a pop. Not cheap.

Brilliant comparison for those looking at older Teslas. Ive run a "classic" pearl white P85 since 2015 and got to prefer the look of the nose cone and the way the RWD cars have a lot more finesse in the steering feel. I love the centre tray as you can shuffle over to get in/out the passenger side and chuck big bags straight in. The fixation with centre consoles is an opportunity lost, stop chocking the car up with crap LOL! Also I ordered my car with sunroof delete so the roof is just gloss black on a carbon panneI, no water leaks no wind noise lower c of g and no need to look at UK grey skys just classy creme Alcantara, sun roof delete cars rare as rare things. I had MCU2 fitted and really cant say its worth it but I like the car so much also had all 4 door handles replaced with V2.5 (modified latest V3 to fit classics that have the problematic micro switches /wires deleted £1,400) well worth it. BTW always run my air suspension on low 130,000 miles never any tyre wear problems.

I agree with everything you've said here. I'm not sure if I mentioned this in the video, but I thought I wanted a centre console and did lots of research looking at the various (expensive) options. Then I ended up with a newer loan Model S for 3 months while mine had the battery replaced under warranty. When going back into my car, I realised the open centre console was soooo much better. I'm so glad I never spent the money on one.

@@GoGreenAutos Think its a British fascination with putting things in boxes but to be honest the big open space is way more usefull, i bought a used yacht floor finish insert for mine to match the high gloss redwood which i really like cheap at £20

I always smile when I see this green one as I was really close to buy it in April of 2021. The reason I didn’t go for it because my wife was arguing about the colour. I found a black 2016( one of the 1st) facelift S 70 for under £26k, I don’t feel bad about it especially today it’s worth £10k more. I swapped the side repeaters to a newer sleeker ones from Model 3 as it’s compatible of course the camera function is not working as it’s no coax cables but now the car looks like a 2017 £40k+ car!

Hey Dan where did you get the model 3 side cameras from? I was considering doing the same as you. For now I've chrome deleted them which has done the trick most but changing them would be a more convincing solution 😃 You got your model S for a great price 😁👍👍👍

You should probably say sth about 3G and LTE connection on different models. Otherwise, great vid👍

I have heard the rear drive only use a "better" motor, I believe it is more reliable than the dual motor versions. It would also be interesting to know what issues the 2014 vs 2016 have/had, aka door handles.

1. Listed on the tesla app or on the website under the vehicle details on the account holder`s page. 2. when plugged in the car will display £0.00 once charging has started. the only 2 guaranteed ways to my knowledge.

I have a 2014 model S RWD and it's really hard to tell the difference when driving the AWD performance model. No way the AWD performance model is worth an extra $20,000.

Well. I rented 3 model S’s one 60, one 85D and a P85. I could definitely tell the difference between the 60 and the 85’s. I purchased a used 2015 P85D from Tesla and it is a rocket in insane mode. I have had it 2 years and never tested insane + There is really no competition on the street for the insane mode, not that I race on the street, but there is always that one who wants to test you. I enjoy my valid drivers license with no tickets😊. I did not pay extra for the performance, but I would never have paid $123,000 back in 2015, it’s a great car, but not sure it’s worth that…

In 2022 I paid £36700 for a P90DL fully spec'd out with MCU2 & CCS upgrade. However I'd love a 2nd Tesla for under £17k 😜 But yeah all model S' are great and the value for money compared to other used tesla models is really good right now 😃 I recommend buying a used Tesla from Tesla even if you lose supercharging because the 1 year warranty is bullet proof and I've found plenty of niggles and squeaks that Tesla have fixed for free. They even replaced the 12v battery within the used warranty 😁👍

@@alanl3511 No way, especially with how much less older models are going for. I just upgraded to a 2018 100D AWD and I love it. Only paid $49k with 51,050 miles, enhanced auto pilot and 21 inch wheels and Michelin tires. It even came with nearly $500 in Weather Tech floor mats. If I were to buy the same model new it would cost nearly $110,000. I saved over $60,000 buying used and it has pretty much everything a 2022 model would have except the steep price tag. Thinking about getting another one for my wife since I can get 2 used ones for less than 1 new one.

an ok video but RSEV`s video about model S` is much more comprehensive. the differences are many more, and not just differentiated by year of productions. Tesla has been introducing different items as they were developed like MCU2, like door handles, like cameras and they did not wait for a new year model like the legacy manufacturers. so some 2016 will come with all of this but some 2016 wont. PS 1. 90kWh is not the largest battery the 100 one is. 2. Autopilot - there are cars with Autopilot from pre-facelift. you can tell by the camera setup. Also you may have cars from 2017 without the cameras for Autopilot 2. Also even if you do have the cameras some of the cars may not have it enabled in the software, which means that the car is capable but the software must be bough. 3. MCU1 - my prefacelift 2015 has been upgraded under warranty to MCU2 a while ago. 4. Supercharging - It actually went about 3 months into 2017 as well. (depending order date and delivery date)

March 2015 MS85 with 163k - 263miles average full charge 90% battery health. depending on amount of supercharging this can be higher or lower. also depending how often the battery has been ran to 0% or charged to 100%. the drop to 90% can be quite quick in the life of the car. generally speaking they level off at roughly 90% provided good battery health procedures are adhered to. that said i`ve seen a neighbour just bought one a couple of months ago with 37% battery health :D so it can happen. probably best to run a diagnostic on it before you buy it. guides on youtube on how to access that on the car`s display

The older generation probably had a slower info system. The new one HAD a New MSU version (Faster hardware) which also provided more functions such as KZread and Netflix. You could also upgrade the old one but apparently they cost several hundreds of dollars

£1,400 in the UK, including tax for the MCU2 upgrade. And older models, like my 2014 Model S, get the instrument screen replaced too as well as the main multimedia screen.
