Sounds to me like 2 things: - Height has alot to do with what you could and couldn't do as a guard & - Natural progression of time in how new things at the beginning have tons of room for growth, eventually only have room for refinement in the areas things have already been established. One criticism of something like say, a video game, take a first person shooter game, back in the infancy of the first person shooter genre like wolfenstein and doom, there was tons of room for growth; fast forward to now, and it's very hard to find new ways to make gameplay in a first person shooter game. Madden is another game that has had a hard time finding 'new' ways to present football. The last bonus thing to note is, honestly the human body can only typically do but so much, and only so much is legal in the game of basketball. What do I mean? After dribbling what can be done to expand that? After shooting, what can be done to expand that? Dunking thats been fully explored; the human body is finite so as time went along ofcourse things were going to 'stagnate' but nevertheless, good video.

I think one thing that is important to mention with regards to modern day shooting guards is the increasing prominence of the 3 and D player. Klay Thompson is possibly one of the best 3 and D players ever and has also had a hand in defining the modern shooting guard. Other players such as Danny Green come to mind, and I believe that NBA teams are searching for these sorts of role players when constructing their championship teams.

From the ending of the video, every player is making three-pointers, even centers! Players such a Turner (Pacers), Jokic, Porzingis, Anthony Davis, Giannis, even Dwight Howard practice three-pointers... Maybe a half of the center shot three-pointers, and what is that? Centers who shot threes? Is like Brad Stevens says a couple years ago, I don't remember if he said that all of his players have to be point guards or shooting guards. The game has changed forever, big guys are learning to handle the ball, and dunk of course. All thanks to the 73/09 Warriors.

Doesn't need much room, doesnt take many steps, and causes alot of attention from defense. Can play on any team the has an offense full of movement and/or has a primary ball handler and play maker. And plays defense.

A lot of the "evolving" , in all positions, over the decades is caused by the rule changes. Harden's style in particular is designed to take advantage of the new rules regarding hand checking and travelling. Shaq's dominance caused rule changes that evolved the modern big man into emulating guard behavior.

You make great videos for a Lakers homer.
Remember: Jordan played with George Gervin near the end of Gervin's career so that may have had some influence on some of his specific skills. But probably not.

Good vid, but I would like u to talk about the other role in present days, like the 3nD, for example, klay Thompson
Dennis Johnson was a PG. Downtown Freddie Brown was the SG for those sonics teams and Danny ainge and Gerald henderson were the sgs for those celtic teams
The iceman! He lives out in bulverde, TX. And when I worked at a grocery store called HEB I got to help walk his groceries out to his car and talk to him a bunch of times. It would blow my mind that almost no one knew who he was.
pete maravich is so underrated in basketball history, RIP a legend and innovator to the game
Keep the uploads comin 🔥
Low dropped another video ? Let's go

Nice video
I was waiting for this I’m 2 and 3
Where is the small forwards and Power forwards evolution? Because your videos are really good
Can you do the evolution of the sf next plzw
Can you do the forwards next
Funny how the shooting guard has sorta split into two seperate positions, a spot on the floor for a combo guard like Derrick White, or a spot on the floor for another wing like Herb Jones
Gotta be able to either create your own shot or be a SNIPER from 3
Iceman was a beast too
Less goooo LOW FOR DA WIN
From the ending of the video, every player is making three-pointers, even centers! Players such a Turner (Pacers), Jokic, Porzingis, Anthony Davis, Giannis, even Dwight Howard practice three-pointers... Maybe a half of the center shot three-pointers, and what is that? Centers who shot threes? Is like Brad Stevens says a couple years ago, I don't remember if he said that all of his players have to be point guards or shooting guards. The game has changed forever, big guys are learning to handle the ball, and dunk of course. All thanks to the 73/09 Warriors.
This video was such a w

Man.. the leauge has really taken a big dip downwards overtime.. would have loved to be alive during the best eras in nba
Earl Monroe was a shooting guard and one of the most innovative players ever to take the court. After being traded from the Bullets to the Knicks, he played alongside Walt Frazier, an unorthodox point guard.
You should make more historical videos
Do the power forward
My nigga LOW finally posted 💯💯💯
Loved video but just wished Klay wouldve gotten some shine. I feel like he's the ultimate 2 guard of today. Doesn't create much off the dribble at all but can move off ball so well. Doesn't need much room, doesnt take many steps, and causes alot of attention from defense. Can play on any team the has an offense full of movement and/or has a primary ball handler and play maker. And plays defense.
PLEASE POST MORE
aye legend of simping is back
I wish LOW would upload more, but I understand this takes time

I heard on your podcast you thought this vid wasnt going to do great so Im going to try to prove you wrong
A lot of the "evolving" , in all positions, over the decades is caused by the rule changes. Harden's style in particular is designed to take advantage of the new rules regarding hand checking and travelling. Shaq's dominance caused rule changes that evolved the modern big man into emulating guard behavior.
7:33 George dude be lookin like Danny green low key
Low should do a mock draft, idk if he’s into the draft tho
It’s weird how much I love David thompson even tho I’ve never actually seen him play
Waiting for small forward history
The only position that hasn’t changed is the small forward and now every other position is just also a small forward
6"7 Clyde Drexler ( SG ) is the most underrated player ( SG ) in history.

Nah. David thompson
can you plz do for small foward plz?
I will forever consider A.I. to be a shoot first point guard, I don't care what their team roster tried to call him, dude was less than 6 feet tall and had possibly the best handles of all time. Legend.

Dennis Johnson and Wade are extremely underrated because you cant base their impact off personal stats. The only stat they cared about was the W.
