I am a CAD operator and have used a Logitech M570 track ball for YEARS and have never had a problem with my thumb operating the ball.

I got a lower tier Logitech trackball mouse for work. It was uncomfortable at first, but I don't have any issues with it now. It really helped when space was limited working off-site.

some thumb training may be in order😂 I’ve used a trackball for years, sometimes 10+ hours a day, and the fatigue in my thumb is wayyyyy less than would be in my arm/shoulder from moving my arm all day;) Good luck all.

Great detailed review. Right to it. Thank you. Lol, I do prefer MX Ergo Plus. I had a old ball mouse version and loved it. This one will be such an upgrade. For me, I love that I don't need a big surface space for scrolling. Added bonus the angle and then the wedge for even more ergonomic use. Thanks again.

I remember using a Logitech track ball mouse to play stardew valley and slimerancher for hours Lolol I unfortunately lost my usb thingy for Bluetooth but I actually found the track ball mouse in this video. Is there another mouse that’s trackball more suited for gaming?

Some people hate having to move a mouse on a surface to move the pointer on the monitor.

Is the MX Master three still your mouse of choice? When I first started using the MX Master three I thought everyone should switch to it. I absolutely loved it until one of the switches broke after a short time of using it. Less than six months. After looking into it, there is a relatively simple fix, but it involves heating up the mouse so you can disassemble it to repair it. it is still sitting in the corner of my desk unused over a year later. I switched to a different mouse. Have you had any issues with the MX Master three not lasting more than six months?

I know that it's suppose to be used by the thumb mostly on the trackball. When my thumb gets tired I go between my thumb and index finger to keep going. But he does have a point it can get tiring if you're not used to it for a long period of time.

i've owned 2 MX Ergo Plus and the ball went bad and stopped working on both exactly around the 24 month mark, not buying one again. Definitely gonna try the MX Master 3s

I have 3 Logitech trackball mice I've been using for 6 or 7 years. All of them have developed a collection of dust and debris around the rollers (your 24 month timing is about right) inside the trackball mechanism that once cleaned have fixed the wonky performance. If you already thought of that, sorry I cannot help more. But agree with those who prefer the trackball because the mouse does not need to move.

I love my ergo but I found it a bit outdated, battery life sucks and having a mini usb port in 2024 is not a great deal either. How's battery life for the mx master 3s?

if you get used to high dpi, high sensitivity, the thumb doesnt get so tired. you must have a very precise thumb movement though

isn't a trackball better? i mean sore thumb vs sore wrist/hand. you have to move your entire arm to operate with the master, over just using one thumb for the ergo

appreciate the review, im not sure which i want ive used both but not sure what i want yet xD the mx master has more features that i like, and is definitely prettier with those 2 all metal scroll wheels. but the cursor feels so sluggish for some reason. the mx ergo seems to have a very snappy and responsive cursor movement and having big hands is nice to have it fill my hand out, but i definitely worry about rsi in the forearm or in the muscle you describe since it is all in your thumb.

what issues you experienced with scrolling? a lot of people seem to be having issues with the MX Master 3

@@Angelo-vb6dg the only thing I noticed is that sometimes if you just want a single step scroll it will not register. Tho I think you can adjust the tactility, but I've gotten into gaming more so I took it back and just use the GPX superlight in Magenta now for school, desktop, and gaming which has been fine. Definitely always miss having a smooth infinite scroll wheel tho

@@defu8592 The infinite scroll is one of the main reasons I wanted it, but it's no use if it can't do basic ratched scrolling

  • @defu8592

@@Angelo-vb6dg it does basic ratcheted scrolling, it just was 100% consistent since it is magnetic so if you go really really really slow just trying to make it go one step its pretty easy to make it skip that way, but if you are just doing normal quick scrolling around it wasnt that bad, i normally just kinda flick the scroll wheel and then stop it where i want on the page rather than doing small steps. could of just been mine tho

DON'T BUY IF YOU HAVE SMALL HANDS I have logitech mx master 3s and small hands, I can reach the scroll wheel only with the tip of my index finger, doesn't feel ergonomic at all, is too big if you have small hands, feels too heavy comparing to my jelly combo that is really light and very ergonomic also is about £20 ish you can change dpi on the jelly combo mouse, however on this logitech mx master 3s you need to install the sw to change the dpi speed and also to configure the buttons, my company doesn't allow installing the sw which makes the mouse quite useless if you work with 2 screens. Overall unhappy with this mouse, I would make it tilted, lighter, able to configure the buttons in the mouse rather than using sw(like other gaming logitech mouse in market), in conclusion the only thing I like is the fast wheel, apart from that it gave me wrist and arm pain so I have stop using it :( also they don't make it for left handed I contacted logitech support about it and they couldn't reply

This guy either has a weak thumb or must have his mouse pointer speed set to the slowest speed possible.
