apparently, the wipe wasn't done properly, since if it was, we wouldn't have that scene of... the above. Also, other decently plausible theory : Check "Why R2-D2 Never Told Luke that Darth Vader is Anakin - Star Wars Explained" and "How Luke Found Out Anakin Became Darth Vader - Star Wars Explained" and "How Luke Found Out Who His Mother Was and Watched Her Death - Star Wars Explained"

To be fair, the EU does fill in the BIG timegaps between the movies (of which, the time gaps are huge) and the pre-TPM and post-RotJ timelines. And yes, the OG 6 movies are the "more" canon compared to the EU. And that's the sad thing. More and more people are finding out about established lore (EU) and see what could/should have been, instead of this disaster that is the disneyverse (minus Rogue One, that movie was pretty good).

the voice was edited, it can be the same actor but they dont have to worry cuz they can edit the voice and make it like c3po

R2-D2 needed some serious maintenance by time of the Disney movies. If you've watched the canon Star Wars Resistance it was stated that many of the previous models of astromech droids are seriously outdated with very few of them still being in use. The newer astromech droids are the ones like BB-8.

Dude the sequel eulogies are comedy gold man its like a spoof movie not as good as space balls though. Can u imagine Rey doesn't want people to know she's a Palpatine so she takes the Skywalker name like wth .Its like why would you take the name of a person who would literally link you back to your heritage that's a whole new kind of stupid. Maybe that's why Darth Vader kept Boba Fett from firing on Chewbacca when the Wookiee had his temper tantrum in Cloud City's cryogenics chamber in The Empire Strikes Back. He recognized that it was C-3PO being carried around in his dismantled state on Chewbacca's back and he didn't want Boba Fett to accidently hit him. An implausible rumor even has it that C-3PO was actually an undercover probe droid that was secretly planted by Vader into the midst of the Rebel Alliance to keep track of and report back the Alliance's plans and movements. I highly doubt that that's the case, but it does lie within the realm of being possible.

One thing that never made any sense to me in TPM was why R2 belonged to Padme, and 3PO belonged to Anakin - surely it would have made far more sense and been a much more obvious direction for the story to take had it been the other way round. There would have been absolutely no use for a protocol droid in Watto's workshop - and despite Anakin's suggestion that it would have been useful for his mom, what use does a slave have for a protocol droid? (none in case you're wondering :-) ) A toolbox on wheels (R2D2) would have come in pretty handy in that environment though. Likewise, as queen of naboo on a mission to the senate, a protocol droid would have been pretty much standard equipment on her royal starship. The story would have needed a minor change in the escape from naboo, but that wouldn't have caused an major plot problems.

What if R2-D2 was the chosen one

I read an interesting story once, about how R2-D2 got his name. A few years before Geo. Lucas made Star Wars, he made a nice little comedy, "American Graffiti". (Which has a Harrison Ford cameo, btw). All the time he was working on the film, he was also writing "Star Wars". He kept a notebook with him, and would add notes or write ideas as they came to him. For several reasons, when filming, the visual and the audio are recorded simultaneously, but separately. This is why, when the Director says "Action", the assistant says "Scene 6, take 2" and "SNAPS" that clacker; The "SNAP" helps them to synch up the audio in post-production. During the post-production phase for "Graffiti", Lucas was working with the sound editor, and while editing one scene, the editor turned to an assistant, and asked him to grab a dialogue reel, that they would synch with it. He wanted the second dialogue track on the second reel of tape recorded for the scene in question. In editing speak he turned to the assistant and said . . . "Spool up R2, D2." (Reel 2, dialogue #2) That caught Lucas' ear. He liked the sound of it and R2 got his name. Maybe real, maybe rumor, but I like it.

It would've been so cool if we saw some C3PO, R2D2 and Darth Vader interactions .

In the comics it shows Vader on Bespin with C-3PO's body, having a flashback to his childhood, and ordering that C-3PO will not be destroyed or tampered with.

This is now cannon R2-D2 is actually telling us the Star Wars story.

Also I like how c-3po represents anakin innocence and when he gets his memory wiped it’s like saying anakin is no more and it’s Vader both come out different and with memory lost and both forget who they are

Gotta say, I hope we see more of the duo in future projects.

When my kids ask me about the skywalkers saga ill show them this video instead.

Yep, R2-D2 and C-P30 are the base of all the stories. It's their POV. When Star War episode 4 was released, it was the first time ANY movie had androids are the stars. They were the main characters for the first five minutes of the movie. So daring to start a movie that way.

These droids seriously need a solo film about them..

They’re just cute and iconic to sell toys They really didn’t so anything People got all hyped bout BB8 doing the 👍🔥 But no one talked bout how cool it was when r2 flew in the air and burned the droids with oil in episode 3

one shutters to imagine what lays behind those eye of r2. he must have one of the most complex personalitys a droid had ever reached

anybody thought about this: The chances of 3po and r2 becoming friends, serving the queen of Naboo and senator + anakin, they both join the rebels, only to somehow have their escape pod crash relatively close to luke skywalker, anakin's son for luke to then join the rebellion with them, parts of this inbetween also have the maiN characters of star wars rebels running into them and seeing them on yavin 4 in rogue one

Well, one of the many titles Lucas thought of using was "The Adventures Of R2-D2 and C-3PO", but thought it was too long of a title.

It has long been my opinion that Star wars is actually the adventures of r2d2-detoo and C3PO

Ppl often ask how Obi Wan didn't remember R2 or C3PO. I. got another one,.why didn't Own Lars or Beru remember them. They lived there for quite a while. Yet no memory of them when Owen bought them.

He didnt say he didnt remember them, he said he never owned a droid. He saw them as tools and property so therefore he was not the owner. There were many R2 units and u couldnt really tell them apart. And it's not like anakin told his stepbrother and step sister in law hey I built these when I was a kid, u may see them again in the future found in the desert for u to buy and give to my son that I dont have yet. Lol.

So now c3po remember the prequels

R2 is the only character in any movie who cursed so much they bleeped out every word he ever said.

Very good video. It is missing the adventures from the Droids cartoon and comic books that were made in the early 90's, but it's otherwise pretty complete.

I just had an epiphany if R2D2 has C3po's memory backed up then that means he could've easily restored 3po's memory about Anakin and Padme being married at anytime and 3po could've told Luke that Vader is his father and Leia was his sister straight away

Volume on lowest setting is probably 3 times higher than how i'd normally listen to it..

I'm so upset that they didn't utilized Artoo well in Episode IX. I mean come on, he should be the one who tells the whole story to the Whills. Like I see this as the satisfying ending to the Skywalker Saga. And I'm disappointed that Episode IX didn't do it. :((((

Threepio and Artoo have been around since Episode I. Man, those droids must be so lucky.

I wonder why they made it so that only C3PO can understand R2-D2? Why not just have them all speak clearly? If C3PO wasn’t there it would be so frustrating trying to communicate with him because you don’t speak beep boop beep

George Lucas needed characters that couls survive many generations so he chose the droids to tell the story expecially R2D2 as he has basic mobility and would be a much older droid but got internal upgrades

I was expecting this to be about the tragic real life relationship between the two actors who portrayed the droids as the guy who plays C3PO is not a very pleasant person allegedly

I’m still a little annoyed they didn’t get to experience a lot of the Sequels. 3-P0 was there for the planning and also stuck with the resistance when D-Qar was about to get blown up but R2 was just sleeping. TLJ was good for em though. 3-P0 went on the mission is TROS so yay but I wish R2 did a bit more (yes I know he was there during the battle of exogol so to be fair there is that). Mostly TFA I’m a little disappointed with. Oh and Solo. More in Rouge one maybe but I get why they didn’t so a cameo was nice but I wish they had a cameo is solo.

Correction, after R2D2 saved the Nubian star ship he wasn't thanked by the Queen, he was thanked by her bodyguard, her Double. Just sayin. :P

I’ve got some questions. Now I know Anakin created C3PO, however he’s been programmed to understand 6 million forms of communication. How is that possible. Also after watching Rise of Skywalker, C3PO can understand the ancient Sith language. I don’t get how that’s possible.
