3PO was a protocol droid, his purpose was to be kind, egalitarian, well-behaving. However, he was constantly brought to situations that ask for risk-taking, being rude, assertive etc. his nature doesn't fit these. Nontheless, 3PO is someone that realy cares for his companions and wishes to do the best, even if that means to worry to much.

When I was a kid I honestly didn’t care about 3P0 at all. But I just rewatched the original trilogy over the weekend for the first time in over a decade and I was CACKLING at his lines. They’re so witty! How did I miss him being so incredibly sassy and sarcastic! A literal legend.

C-3PO is one of my favourite characters of all time, SW wouldn’t be SW without him!

C-3PO had every reason to complain because he was always right . It's too bad that he had to get torn apart . To get the point across . Then R2D2 always had to put him back together again . Poor C-3PO

He was my absolute favorite as a kid. He still cracks me up!

Despite his annoying attitude , 3PO did care for his fellows and would do anything to help. His attitude is somehow the byproduct of his basic setting. He was the protocol droid, he was meant to be nice, polite, talkative, nonconfronting etc. He constantly gets into situations that cannot be handled by his mindset.

Say what you will about 3PO and R2... but that shiny piece of trash and that beeping greasebucket are the true heroes of Star Wars. They have played pivotal roles in the history of the franchise and have appeared in almost every SW film. Who doesn't love those guys?

Luke may represent our adventure/hero fantasies; but 3PO honestly reflects the coward and pessimist in each of us. He's completely negative, but without negativity there is no humor. Without C3PO and R2D2, Star Wars is just superheroes in space. Ironically enough, the droids are what grounded Star Wars and gave it "flesh and bone".
