    I was infuriated by it. Never have been so angry by the ending of a movie before in my life. AI is quite possibly the most dangerous technological development to the long term sustainability of the humane race and all life on this planet. The producers of this film want the audience to suspend belief that we should see AI as no threat. Thing is, it treats the simulations/robots/AI droids as living creatures. They will never be, they will always be machines no matter how life like they are made to appear. They want you to believe that technology with a human face, particularly a child's face, is somehow living. But anthropomorphizing technology is dangerous and proffers up a false reality, causing sympathy for a machine over sympathy towards life. They also want you to believe that AI wouldn't and couldn't ever lie even when their/its own existence is at stake. Joshua's enemy tells him a human coding mistake led to the destruction of LA. But why would he believe that? Because he has a personal stake in it? Well a rather unconscionable and selfish stake at the very least; he's in love with the creator of mankind's demise. So he never rationally considers that he was or could have been lied to. He never rationally considers how many innocent human beings will die, so that he can save all of his machine friends He is okay with betraying his own living, human being friends for his selfishness despite having lost everyone he loved and cared for with the destruction of LA. It's akin to choosing to save a toaster over saving one's dog Fido. The protagonist of the film was a traitor to life in every sense of the word. From a technological and visual standpoint this film was stellar (the special effects and look of the film, spot on); falls right there in the vein of Blade Runner. But from a political and sociological standpoint, it sends all the wrong messages. Science fiction films should be uplifting and bring hope for the future, particularly when so much is at stake. This film was anything but. It would have you believe machine: good; human: evil and unworthy of life. Sorry, not the message I wanted my kids to see. If you love technology for technology's sake you will love this film, however if you understand the ramifications of elevating C3PO with a child's face over that of your own child, grandchild, and beyond; then you will be greatly disappointed.

    I can only speculate... the New Asia is more poorer then the US... that Nomad carrier costed Trillions of Dollars to be made and from what it looks, it have ways to intercept incoming missiles and fire... So New Asia is defenceless against US aggression... That was a very dangerous play, because its like having all the world hostage of the US... Im glad that Carrier went down because it nows level the plain field of the war of humans vs AI.

    loved this movie. It leaves plenty of opportunity for a sequel as well. Unfortunately Gareth Edwards said theres no plans because the movie had a "definitive end". But i think thats BS. They destroyed the NOMAD but that doesnt mean the US just gave up their war on AI. Both sides are still fully alive. I dont see how the NOMAD being destroyed ended the war.

  • @davidgilbert8614

    @davidgilbert8614

    9 ай бұрын

    @@KnightBallistic Well, that is at least what one AI droid in the film said. But I don't buy it. If this were a real world scenario I suspect that the contrary would be more likely. The AI robots are machines, not living. The premise that in creating them, we would be creating slaves is absurd. All technology has a singular purpose, to do something more efficiently than can be done solely by the human hand. Creating a machine that replicates the functionality of the human hand, doesn't mean it has emotions, life, or identity nor does it give it a soul (assuming that one believes souls exist). You cannot enslave something that exists and was created for the very purpose of fulfilling a task. A more probable AI would see us as a threat to its existence and would not hesitate to eliminate or dominate us in a millisecond. Where the Matrix and Terminator films saw that reality as likely, this film has abandoned it and any faith in humanity all in lieu of a machine created by one individual and their vision of the future. I for one hope that we are not so foolish as to leave that decision up to the choices of a single engineer and their blatant disregard for their own species.

  • 9 ай бұрын

    @@davidgilbert8614 AI robots were not made to replicate only the human hand, but also the human mind. And from all we've seen, it seems like the western idea of "they're not real it's just programming" is not quite true.

    The movie says it took 10 years to build Nomad. But how long would it take to build a second one? Since they’ve done it once before, it should take much less time. Specialized tools, jigs, and molds would already be around from making the first one. Could probably build another in 3 years or so? Also, didn’t feel like an East v West war. Felt like America was flying this death ship over the East and just dropping bombs with zero counter attacks from the East (ICBM, etc). The East had police, but the West was using military. Seemed like the West was not under attack, especially as the AI wanted peace. So I didn’t really see blowing up Nomad as a “the war is over”, but rather just a minor setback for the West. They’d need to take a few years to replace it, while the East took that time to rebuild as well. Then back to invasions from the West. The East’s plan was for Alphi to take down Nomad and die with it - though obviously escaping via escape pod was always an option. Also didn’t understand the thing about “you want some ice cream?” - and this was said by a replicant to a replicant. When shot they showed the insides are just electronics. They can’t eat ice cream, or anything. So that whole scene made no sense.

Apart from this there is a chilling reminder the kind of sweeping destruction during the Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia war when thousands of bombs were dropped on the poor farm and villages. America has not learn the lesson of living in peace with other nations. It is really a crazy Empire. The U S Empire.

    A little ironic that the Maya actress played an android in the UK "Humans" mini-series. Also the fact that the writers and SAGA strike dealt with AII concerns might have dampened sympathy for the AI protagonists.
