THE END OF THE BEATLES | THE STORY OF LET IT BE | CLASSIC ALBUMS

Музыка

After finishing the tense recording sessions of the white album, the beatles took a break from a relationship that seemed to be increasingly frayed. On the verge of breaking up, Paul McCartney proposed the Get Back project as an alternative to solve the band's problems, without so much complexity in its recording and returning to its roots, the project proposed an album, a television special with a concert that would give the Beatles a second chance. But the beatles got their reality check when tensions and their artistic differences returned, locked in a film studio and with an improvised concert on the rooftop of their studios, the beatles were wondering about their future in January of 1969.

They went out on top. I would hate the Beatles ruin their legacy by releasing a disco album in the 70s, a new-wave album in the 80s, and an adult-contemporary album in the 90s.

Really? Do you really think those were their options if the Beatles would've been together past 1970? Damn!! Give 'em some credit for being innovators!! That's probably why they couldn't stay together, their imaginations were all worn out. They'd been there and done that. I do, however, think they would've returned as a newer versions if John hadn't died. That Chapman guy really threw a wrench into that possibility.

They might get some great music done, but with stress and not good energy it’s not worth it. They done well on their own. Also don’t worry, no disco or new wave here, they would held their new. They did somehow even on their solo albums.

That's not true. One After 909 was not the only song they used from the rooftop on the album. Dig A Pony and I've Got A Feeling were both the rooftop recordings also. You can hear Ringo sneeze and abruptly stop right as George is counting off Dig A Pony. That bit is from the rooftop performance.

They were together way too much. Everything they did together with Ringo was a 9 yr period. White album just came out like 4 or 5 months before this get back project. Take some time off fellas. I get George getting flustered. The dark horse at that point was just as good if not better songwriter than Lennon and McCartney. Harrison wrote the best songs on the white album and Abby road. Also what is crazy all the Beatles where In there 20’s when they broke up. They were just kids. It’s amazing they staying together as long as they did. Really good video thank u

It’s worse than that. The White Album came out less than six weeks before the Get Back sessions commenced. What other group would even conceive of going in to a studio with new songs just weeks after releasing a 30 track double album? Today it would be at least two or three years lay over to promote the first album before even thinking about a follow up.

I always consider it a deep irony that my first Beatles album was *Abby Road,* the last full-length record the Beatles recorded together and my last was the original 1970 issue of *Let It Be.* I always enjoyed it, even if it isn't "supposed to be enjoyed". (That's a reaction to texts I've written about how this album is the least satisfying issue in the Beatles' catalog.)

According to much archival footage, many of the wives were in the studio, especially during the pre-production stages of early planning & recording, i.e., Linda Eastman & her young daughter, as well as Ringo's then-wife were present. This was made super clear in the Jackson, much anticipated, 2021 "GET BACK" 6 hour re-tooled, restoration film, AS WELL in the classic Lindsay-Hogg original cut. I may be mistaken, but believe I am not. The VERY FIRST THING I RECALL when seeing the "wives" present, was Linda E. was so eloquently dressed AND WEARING COSMETICS, something she decreased & frowned upon greatly, during her WINGS touring years of the 1970s. In a way, "full circle" could best sum up Let It Be -- between One After 909 representing their early period, Across The Universe being a nod (intended by John or not) to their psychedelic period, and both I Dig A Pony and The Long And Winding Road pointing toward what both John and Paul would be best known for in their solo work (as I Me Mine likewise would represent for George).

You say Paul thought they should do Let it Be, because he wanted to keep them motivated? People have to realize the white album was released on Nov.22, it was a double record, what the Beatles really needed was maybe 6 months of rest ,not another new album and a movie of them doing it not even eight weeks after the release of the white album, and John didn’t have much material he felt pressured and was sick and tired of Paul’s bossy attitude,

That first snippet of song & those Let it be tracks is an example & typical of the ‘Hits only ‘ playlists of National radio ( except for BBC 6 music which was literally rescued by donations & pleas from listeners & artists). Without Internet i shudder to think how 98 %of music would now get heard thanks to Global & Bauer & the like feeding the musically deaf with Elton & Madonna best sellers decade after decade ….

I heard what was supposed to be the “Get Back” album on an AM radio station on a Sunday afternoon in September 1969 (literally a week before Abbey Road was released) and still have my hand written list of the running order of songs on sides one and two. They were amazing! No overdubs, no added strings or horns - just bass, rhythm, lead guitars, keyboards and drums. No Phil Spector walk of sound stuff. I was fortunate enough to find a bootleg album back in 1977 with the same songs and 21:33 nearly the same running order as what I heard in 1969. I Me Mine and Across the Universe were not on it but Don’t Let Me Down was. BTW, I totally respect the amazing work that Phil Spector did with records in the 1960’s but NOT on the Let It Be album.

They had lost their magic. You could tell the music wasn’t the same and their bad attitudes seeped through. I didn’t even bother to buy the Let It Be album. They had lost their luster by then, and I think the average fan felt that way. Their music was on the outs and many newer artists and groups were taking their place.

Abbey road is their last album and the end is their last song, this was just corporate silliness that put it last but it was done before abbey road, so that’s the end!

Phil Spector compiled a very short album - & 2 of those tracks (Dig It, Maggie Mae) should NEVER have been used!!!! Why he left off Lennon's best song - Don't Let Me Down - makes NO SENSE AT ALL !! This should have been included along with another 2 or 3 fairly complete recordings - to make a better album.

So listen to all that drama just to get some music out. Crazy group dynamics. I’m not impressed with their fame. Because , they didn’t see it coming. I’m more impressed with people, like Elvis and MICHAEL and James Brown Fame. That’s the reason why he didn’t see it coming when Michael Jackson purchased their publishing. How BAD did Paul WANTED IT..Look what he did in the end. He put it out there that he was going on without the Beatles. Betrayed by the guy who met John after the first gig of The QUARRYMEN.

"One After 909" was pretty bad. It should have been left in the dustbin of history. "Move over once, move over twice, come on honey don't be cold as ice." Ugh. Any 8th grader in America could have written that song.

And I think it worked a little better as straight eighths, as we heard in the snippets from the Anthology series.
