​@@wunder4402true, but he wouldn't say it like "accept your helplessness", that just reads so obviously like a villain line that it really shows how bad ravenbeak is at acting here. Instead adam would probably be more formal and to the point like "with your current arsenal defeating him seems unlikely, it may be best to focus our efforts on rearming your suit for now."

After all the adventures that Samus has done, we now have a reason to call her a metroid.

​@@jordancooney6817 The implication is that Quiet Robe's Thoha DNA, which was assimilated by that X, stabilized Samus's rampant Metroid DNA, since Raven Beak told us the Thoha were the only one capable of controlling the Metroids. So basically Samus's Metroid DNA isn't gone, it's just back under control.

It’s so nice when a relatively dormant franchise comes back and delivers.

@@eddy-_-1796 Had that been the case, then Quiet Robe-X would otherwise not be in the ship at all or at least leave it without any trace after overhearing Adam's warning that Samus would drain the ship. It's more efficient for the X to leave Samus to die rather than neutralize her.

Just goes to show that there's a lot about the Chozo we still don't know. On a side note, this could've been part of a grand plan by Quiet Robe to ensure Samus's survival by using the X to transfer his Thoha DNA into Samus, stabilizing her rampant Metroid DNA. Quiet Robe was heavily involved with the creation of the Metroids, so he probably would've known or at least theorized that Raven Beak's Mawkin DNA would trigger it into going out of control.

@@SentinelX-24324 the scientist and SA-X from fusion are previous examples of X acting irregularly due to the intelligence and memories of their hosts. the SA-X let itself get absorbed by Samus just to kill an omega metroid, and the scientist tried to kill everything onboard the station (x included), so their self-serving instincts can be affected

I spent so much of this video laughing not AT you, Dee Bee, but laughing because I experienced every single one of those emotions firsthand when I played through the game at launch. XD XD

Since it didn't get Game of the Year... Perhaps Metroid Dread could instead get... An EMMI award!

Ah yes, the Adam Beak reveal. Here's a cool detail; if you pay attention to the starting cutscene, you'll notice that Samus' first encounter with Raven Beak gave you hints to how to fight off his first phase.

This game's boss fights are so goddamn enjoyable. Experiment Z57 and Raven Beak have to be among my favorite bosses in any game ever. They are hard but satisfying to figure out, and when you nail a parry Samus just becomes the biggest badass in a video game. What a way for the franchise to come back. Also Dee is the only person I know that tried to jump over Z57's head. Props to him for not using the dash for the majority of the boss fights, that actually makes them even harder. Edit: man, I wish this game had a boss rush mode or something like Hollow Knight does.

Her Metroid abilities may be stronger than they were in Fusion (assuming absorbing the Quiet Robe X didn't suppress her energy-leeching abilities), but by the end of Dread, the condition of her Metroid DNA is more or less the same as it was in Fusion. So in short, no, she's not fully Metroid.

Experiment Z-57 on Cataris can actually be seen earlier. It’s the dead looking monster that the robot arms are working on right next to one of the Emmi doors. Just thought I’d let those who didn’t already know know!

Loved watching this playthrough, especially the countless attempts at beating the bosses and your fear at the emmi. Your reaction to samus completely destroying chad raven beak was priceless, as usual looking forward to your play throughs of other m, am2r and the primes! just a shame metroid still cant crawl

DeeBee, you're much more calculating in your boss fights than I was. I found having an itchy trigger finger and the prevalent use of Phase Shift to be a great combo against the bosses. Great Video!

The issue was realising I had to avoid the invincible phase and save your power bombs to take out the sun. The way this game is designed is learning through death since you have no lives (except the super nintendo was less forgiving on this. Also I take offense that hard mode is after normal it was hard LITERALLY at the start. Lol dread mode looks like its a decoration. You will see samus armor blow off more times than the entire 4 games before it .

Gotta say, I’m impressed with your parry skills, I had no idea you could parry Raven Beak when he does that cross-stage charge. To help any future replays of this fight, when Raven Beak is charging that sun attack in phase 3 you have just enough time to launch a Power Bomb, which destroys the sun attack.

I love it when something bad or silly happens and he just looks at the camera like 😑

I fully support both AM2R and Other M playthroughs, I hope they happen soon (but I also understand he is taking a small break from the Metroid franchise, afterall, there's so many other games on current playthroughs. Glad I could watch this video since I missed the stream, man, I loved this game so much, I should get back and see where I can improve my times, and maybe... Give hard 0% a try

Definitly but he should play the release order from now on. See the brilliance of the Prime Trilogy and in what way Other M tried to copy its succes but failed and nearly killed the Franchise and then end on a bang with AM2R. (Till we get a new Metroid anyway)

I played my first Metroid game in the summer of 2018, and since then I've done several playthroughs of almost every main series game and I pretty much know all there is to known about them. I'm very familiar with the events of the franchise. Samus going straight Super Saiyan on Raven Beak was not something I was prepared for.

I actually really like that Final Boss fight, very difficult but not impossible. It feels like an ACTUAL final boss fight compared to others.

I really appreciate the foreshadowing when after Samus absorbs the energy of the orange EMMI it play the "Super Metroid" theme.

This game became one of my favorites of all times. The fight with Raven Beak is probably one of the hardest on the entire franchise, but one that is very enjoyable. Congrats on finish not only this game but this series

It is really frustrating watching you in boss fights not realizing how effective the flash shift or whatever it's called is at evading basically everything lol

We all had to get used to it first.^^ Samus never had an ability like that, but yes, it's extremely useful in boss fights.

I love how metroid dread runs are getting your arse kicked the first few times into a no damage run

Watching Deebee play makes me realize just how quickly I picked up on boss patters lol. Congrats on beating the game!

the thoha dna quiet robe provided to samus via the x that infected quiet robe gave her the control she needed over her metroid powers

I beat this game 10 times, got under a 4 hour speedrun... And i had no idea you could jump over the experiment's head when he does the lazer attack😂. On the real though, in a year full of meh titles like balan disappointing me and many others, I don't care what people say, this 2-d game is one of few games I felt earned a full price tag. I do think hollow knight is still THE best metroidvania, but that speaks more on hollow knight being criminally underpriced with how much content and quality it has. I love dread to peaces and plan on working towards a sub 3 hour run soon.

GREAT JOB. Now beat the game under 4 hours on both normal and hard mode to unlock all of the ending rewards :D

As a longtime fan (30+ years, scary) of Metroid, this and Super Metroid are my favorites. I played through this game four times in a row: twice in normal and twice in hard mode. Don't be too intimidated by hard mode. If you know the boss patterns you'll be just fine. Thanks again for a very entertaining playthrough!

Dread is my favourite 2D Metroid, I think you'll enjoy the Prime series!

Use Flash Shift. Probably would have prevented a lot of those deaths. It's an excellent evasive move.

I love the Raven Beak fight. Tough as hell but never too frustrating. So much fun to figure it out and beating him feels so rewarding

We (the Switch Community) have been waiting forever for them to release it on the Switch. When the Mario Anniversary pack was released (I think 2020?), we assumed they would do that the following year (which I believe was 2021) for the Zelda Anniversary for Twilight Princess and Windwaker, but we got Skyward Sword HD instead. I have no idea what their plans for the Metroid seres are, but considering how successful Dread was, I assume things are going to amp up this year. I know they delayed Metroid Prime 4, but hopefully we'll get a Prime Trilogy released together soon, because I never owned a Gamecube or Wii, and never got to play them outside of the demo at Toy'R'Us, back when that was a thing.

That final boss is just.... sooo good. Easily one of if not my favorite bosses in the whole franchise! Amazing journey through the franchise, and now, on to Prime!

Found your channel about the time you started playing the Metroids. I grew up with them, so it's been so much fun watching basically my feelings and experiences with the games I gained over literal decades be condensed down through your playthroughs. From your fumbling with the mechanics to your mastery of them, it's been a great time watching.

I was honestly suprised that you didn't note the moment when Raven Beak became Sephiroth for a second

Fun fact: notice that NOT EVEN ONCE had “ADAM” said “lady” in his chats with you. This is a pretty nice hint about Ravenbeak’s trick. The REAL “ADAM” also said early on “communication will be impossible down there” (basically) at the start of the game, ANOTHER BIG HINT. This game is SO SMART😁👍🏻

Here is what is missing from the games. After watching her father dye by destroying a ship to prevent it from being taken by space pirates Ridley was mad I wanted to kill the next living thing and that was Samus. Her mother took the attack. The Chozo finally show up and found Samus the only survivor of the attack. She was given Chozo dna to allow her body to survive on zebes and ravenbeak was one of them.

Watched everything from the start, it was an incredible journey watching you play through each game and experiencing those emotions that us Metroid veterans experienced long ago. Can't wait for you to dive into the Prime games!

Is Metroid Prime next? I cannot say how it compares to 2D Metroid games , but it is above and beyond incredible First Person "Shooters" . It's more like a First Person Action Adventure. Much more perhaps.

Thanks to you i was finally able to enjoy the Metroid series from beginning to end. Looking forward to seeing you play prime. Those game's ambience are something else. Big nostalgia

Am I the only one that noticed how Samus didn't get called, "Lady" once after landing on ZDR? After many playthroughs, I'm still trying to decide how much manipulation of Samus actually occurred. Nonetheless, I feel that the writers missed an opportunity to have Adam call her "Lady" in order to get her attention in not draining the ship. Of course, that might imply that she was never in contact with Adam on ZDR, and I think that it was a mix of the 2, or at the least Ravenbeak filtering Adam's messages.

He was never in contact with her from the moment she stepped off the elevator in the intro cutscene. The internal game files confirm it since every network station conversation is labeled "fakeadam."

Yeah it was Raven Beak ever since the first elevator cutscene Also I feel that him not using 'Lady' at the end is more fitting than if he had used it. They were in a hurry, the planet was gonna blow up and suddenly Samus shows up with these huge Metroid biosigns. Adam is going to have to try process things really quickly, and the first thing he needs to say is "Don't." very quickly and clearly. It needs to get her attention Immediately. 'Lady' is also a 'fun nickname' of sorts between the two. While not always spoken in a joking manner, it's more of a sign of closeness and something of a personal thing between the two. So when you're in a hurry and in the middle of a very serious moment, nicknames are best left on the side as you keep your words quick and clear Maybe if there was an addition to the scene, a pause, a moment for her to really take in the gruesome truth of the situation, and it'd take Adam to go "Lady.." to get her to pay attention to the fact that there's someThing else on the ship, then I could see it It would be nice if there were a few different variants to the ending based on how quickly you managed to get to your ship, but hey xD

The detail in the final fight is awesome. If you rewatch the first cutscene with Raven Beak attacking Samus after she lands, the cutscene actually shows Samus dodging attacks the way you need to in the final fight.

14:46 I love how the first time I played the game I got the energy tank and thought that was all that was hidden there. Little did I know that there was a way to sequence break the Metroid suit right there

it's been a very fun ride since i first watched you playing breath of the wild, because before that i was the kind of gamer that goes "gotta do what has to be done, and move foward", so i never fully apreciated those games, and watching you made me realize how much i lost just because i didn't stop to enjoy, so when i bought metroid dread, i set myself to don't rush and try everything, and i don't regret.I am excited for your next journey!

This game is amazing, it's one of the very very few I've ever played where I can fully admit that every single death was my fault and I can see exactly where I screwed up. It demands you know and fully understand everything it gives you, and not enough games do that these days.

It definitely was a great game! scary, challenging and the story pulled you in while it keeps you curious due to it being so mysterious!! Hey Dee, I do recommend Metroid Other M on the nintendo wii. I think you'll enjoy it a lot and I would love to see you play it!!

I'll not lie, I'm a bit triggered to see him not shooting 90% of the time. Like, you have the plasma beam with infinite ammo, why not always shoot? Especially when enemies just charge attacks and stay still. Anyways, it was very fun to watch ^^

Try using the Screw Attack as an actual attack more often, it is Samus's most powerful weapon, after all. Also, wow! Congrats on defeating Raven Beak without destroying his mini-sun in the last phase. It can be destroyed with a power bomb, which makes the final phase much easier.

Congratulations Deebee! I'm so glad you get to experience the story and gameplay of the Metroid series!

Absolutely abused my power bombs for the "black hole" and "Sun" attacks, great chances for refills in an intense fight. And man does beating Ravenbeak feel so. Darn. Good.

@@UNSCPILOT blackhole I got great at shooting, and when the shot fire didn't work on the sun, I figure, try a powerbomb cause it was annoying dodging two different attacks, and since it work, plus raven beak practaly gives you enough time to plant it.

Maybe planets should just stop calling on Samus to help take care of an infestation of Metroids and X parasites...her methods of eradication are pretty overkill.

I would wholeheartedly support playthroughs of the Metroid Prime Trilogy as well. It's a VERY different experience (and in a tengential storyline) but I loved that franchise and can't wait for MP4 (which is slowly gaining Dread status, now that I think about it...). I started my Metroid journey around the same time you did Dee, and that feeling of "how did I go from getting my ass kicked to no damage?!" at 3:50 is by far my favorite part of the series. you didn't beat him because your skill tree was filled out enough, you beat him because you figured out his patterns

Looking forward to a runthrough of the Prime trilogy especially if rumors of a remaster are true

Pulling off some sequence breaking helped me a lot in my hard mode run though i will never touch dread mode since i don't find any enjoyment in dying from a single hit.

Here's hoping this isn't the last we see of the "Metroid" Suit. What a wild power up. And hey, if you're gonna keep playing more of Metroid series, I'd suggest the Prime games before Other M simply because of Dark Samus, honestly. I mean, might as well get to know why she got into Super Smash Bros, right?
