It’s cardinal Zen who’s embarrassing himself. Accusing the Vatican of heresy (which is an extremely grave accusation) on no sound basis and then responding to corrections by resorting to personal attacks. And then The Pope himself has came out saying the SAME thing as what Lofton was saying all along. So, yeah, it’s clear that the cardinal is in the wrong here and isn’t open to be corrected on the issue.

That was a stellar Bruce Lee-like defensive move by His Eminence Joseph Zen Ze-kiun against the attack by the tattooed big-man-with-a-little-beard. The Roman Catholic Church hero was the clear winner over the LGBTQ-influenced Synodal Church's puppet in that round.

Lofton doesn't know what he's talking about. His ego is too much, and I can't stand his double-standards and sophistry. Too many people are caught in his nets, thanks to his little facade of charity and wisdom. The mask fell of a long time ago for me: He's a liar (referring to the time he denied banning Holdsworth, which was confirmed by Holdsworth himself in the AB livestream the following days).

He had to make so many videos because so many fake traditionalists were lying about Fiducia Supplicans and slandering the Pope. When there is so much dishonesty out there, it takes a lot of work to clear the air and to defend the truth. Look, I’m not Pope Francis’s biggest fan. I miss Pope St. John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. Nevertheless, Francis is not the monster that dishonest people make him out to be. He’s just a decent man, a good Catholic, and faithful son of the Church. Pope Francis may not be a great theologian. He may be in over his head, but Pope Francis is NOT teaching heresy. And he has valid concerns about the fake traditionalists in some TLM communities. Yet he is not only worried about schismatic attitudes on the right. He is equally concerned about the left. This does not remove the ambiguity of the document in which it twice mentions "couples". Two people with an effeminate tendency come together to ask for a blessing, but when giving the blessing they do not consent to the union. This has not been explained until now.

Well if the document already condemns blessing unions, then we should read “couples” in continuity with that, the two people together are spontaneously blessed to help them live holier, and they aren’t trying to legitimize their status. It’s about reading comprehension; much of the problem is reading one sentence in para 31 without reading para 5 or 11 and importing our definitions onto the text. I do agree they should be more aware of how media will spin things out of context. The matter has been clarified several times before now.

This has been explained many times by Pope Francis, the people can recieve a blessing but their union cannot. How about getting off social media so that you aren't interacting with people who use this document since they want you to apostacize and join their sects with them? I'm subscribed to Lofton but even I have gotten into it with him in several posts. I also prefer to watch guys on the minimal side of the Papal spectrum like Timothy Gordon. With all of that being said, I just watched Lofton's rebuttal and he cooked Cardinal Zen. He was right on everything he said. If anything, Zen made himself look foolish. Just not to those that have no actual context to why Zen commented in the first place. If you're intellectually honest, you will likely agree with my assessment. This in no way implies that my take is correct on a subjective level. I believe it to be correct based on the factual evidence presented.

That's kind of an interesting comment given that the whole PR campaign about this project was that they weren't against traditional Catholicism per se, but are a kind of support group for people who have had difficult experiences in these communities, particularly in sede circles. Seems like you're painting them as something quite different if the SSPX should "be worried".

Lofton is an ordinary citizen; he is free to express his thoughts and feelings, but Cardinal Zen, as a cardinal, should show charity to this kind of soul. More is expected from him as a servant of God. God expects more from him being a bishop. His spirituality is being tested.

I find the Cardinal in error in his assessment. Michael teaches about the Magisterium at a Catholic College. So, the Cardinal must be correct that Michael lacks the knowledge of the Magisterium.

Lofton didnt even need to respond, it was clear from the get go that it was a terrible post by Zen. People cheer it out of emotion, they have previous antagonism towards Lofton so anything goes.

I thought the Catholic Church did not have a teaching regarding tattoos? Am I to understand tattoos are immoral based on the comments of the cardinal? Or just bad optics? He seems to be insulting him for having a tattoo.

Yet, it is not the union that is blessed but the individuals "who-recognizing themselves to be DESTITUTE and in NEED of his HELP-DO NOT CLAIM A LEGITIMATION OF THEIR OWN STATUS, but who beg that all that is true, good, and humanly valid in their lives and their relationships be enriched, healed, and elevated by the presence of the Holy Spirit" (Par. 31). I think that's pretty clear. I also think this is pretty clear from Fiducia Supplicans: "[T]he Church does not have the power to impart blessings on unions of persons of the same sex" (Par. 5).
