Today was my last day at Sam Ash drum shop in Hollywood. I worked there almost 4 years. Everything you said was spot on. Especially the POS system used like k mart computers. It’s called GERS and was actually software developed for a furniture company. Thanks for your insight. Do a follow up.

Everything is online now and the added fact that most people do not play instruments anymore . They would rather mess with their phones 📱 sadly 😢

Thank you for this video. I'm on the fence with Sam Ash. God bless them for staying in business for a full century. Their company and employees have worked hard to stay in business. For at least the 20 years, musical instruments sales have not been easy for any retailers. On the other hand, and please forgive me anyone out there, this is not meant to be mean. I bought exactly one guitar from then in the late 90's/early 2000's time period. Every other guitar I bought was from Guitar Center, online retailers. Too many stories to tell but the interactions at Sam Ash were just not pleasant. And they would rarely if ever budge on their Used gear prices. They couldn't be reasoned with. Big hassle for them.l get a guitar down from the wall when they had to get the ladder out.

They aren't too good with their books - bought an item from them online, was supposedly in stock, but it wasn't - I kept it on backorder, then a month or so later I get a phone call that it's available for me to pick up. I told the person it's supposed to ship to me, I'm not in NYC (or where ever they had it). Well, it gets shipped to me, but to date my credit card hasn't been charged. Their problem, not mine, if they can't keep their books straight, well... I'm not going to do it for them.

Yes definitely online inventory is very poor and store pickup is also ridiculous. Hopefully they can fix all this problems with the closing of the stores.
