One of the reasons why MAPA doesn't have a music video is because SB19 is giving us a chance to create our own music video with our MAPA (Mama & Papa) in our minds. And knowing Josh (the one who sang the Dad's verse), he hasn't seen his dad since, but he sang it really well so we could relate. Thank you for another reaction video of SB19. They wrote this song during the Pandemic because they missd their parents and Pablo the leader added the “ Latarataratara” on it because his mom sang that to him when he was a baby to put him to sleep, its like a lullaby.

I love seeing that exact moment when the "Ma, Pa" realization hits ☺️ It's a shame some reactors don't get it even while watching the lyric video.

This is a very well-written song. This is probably their most celebrated song. Pablo, the leader of the group, wrote this. It's a song that united most Filipinos that come from different music genre. SB19 struggled to achieved heights throughout the years because in the Philippines, being a successful P-pop group wasn't even deemed plausible. I believe that for many, the lyric version is the best that is why it has more views. The impact of the images shown on the video, like the paper boat and plane, map, flowers and eyes, the artistic way it was crafted to relay the message and elicit the emotions from the viewers as intended by the artists play a major role in making the song a huge success which the Wish Bus version alone could not have achieved.

In a world full of dismissive & fault finding artists & fandoms, it is very refreshing that Ben & Ben fully supported SB19 in their journey to finding their own place in the Philippine music industry & their attempt on being recognized in the global stage. This PPop group’s wheelhouse is actually ballads. They have great, hard hitting bangers, but their ballads are next level. You need to try some of their classics - Tilaluha, Hanggang Sa Huli, and Nyebe; or their latest - Liham and ILaw. You’ll almost forget that they excel in high energy songs and choreography as well.

SB19 may not be charting much unlike kpop (Philippines is still isn't established in terms of this kind of industry) but their discography has a lot of heart, always has meaning, and since they're now self-managed artists under their own company / label, they have now the freedom to create their own music.

Another play on words for Mapa was the words Mata(Eyes) from the first part describing the mother as the child's eyes and Paa(Feet) for the 2nd verse describing the father as the child's feet. MAta+PAa= MaPa

The lyrics video has had over 95 million views and has hit the hearts of people all over the world. I've watched many reactors and you can see exactly when it touched their hearts. It could be the mama or papa verse or when they talk about the map but every person has their moment. Justin, the youngest member, was responsible for the lyrics video as well as the creative direction many of their MV'S and concerts. Every ballad is sung in Tagalog and the best way to enjoy them is to watch with English subs. I prefer MAPA live performance in Family and life online conference and also The Orchestra version. Family and life conference, you can hear each member's vocal skill and group's harmonisation. The Orchestra arrangements make the song more beautiful. MaPa also = Mata : Eyes , Paa : Feet

Song is so emotional. For someone who speaks Tagalog, the lyrics totally hit differently. This are the kind of songs I try to avoid listening to on a normal basis having been raised into a dysfunctional family. For some reason their MAPA song really hit in the feels. And for some more reason, the lyric video seems to make it more emotional since you are force to focus on the message of the song.

I remember my friend's son with this song.... he danced this song at my friend's funeral, his mom...she was a single mom, worked and migrated abroad all her life to provide a living for her son. Finally, when the papers of the son were approved to migrate and had their chance to be together, she was striken with cancer. After few months together, she died.. to express his grief and emotions, he danced this song.. sad story..

Ben&Ben and Sb19 suited the song really well. Especially Ben&Ben who actually never fails to convey the message. And what the song's message is already touching as it is, their version together is what makes it more emotional. SB19 still has more of this kind of songs. Like Liham, Ilaw, Tilaluha and Hanggang sa Huli. These ballads are topnotch coming from a PPop group full of hightier vocalPPop. Also this is also heartbreaking fact. Josh who sang the the second verse with a message for the "Dad" actually grew up without his dad. So him singing that part makes it more painful for the artist himself.

I always enjoyed the celebratory feel of the band version..while the original SB19 version feels like a warm, loving, hug from my parents long gone. There are still other performances of MAPA that you will enjoy to watch. Their performance at WishUSA bus, that will also help you id each SB19 member faster. There is also their MAPA orchestra version performance at the Forte Pop concert. There is an actual MV, part of an ad for Selecta Ice Cream. You know what, you are my fav reactor… you always get what I want a reactor to notice, like the “Ma,Pa” (mom and dad) that can mean “mapa” Map.

The moment when yo realised that MaPa is both map and mama and papa is so satisfying. Pablo, the leader of the group is also their song writer/composer and he loves word plays and deep lyricism. This song introduced me to SB19 and am a fan since then.

If you explore more off theme they always do some world play same like Gento, gento here in Philippines is gold but in there mv it was like this . Ganito in Tagalog . Ganito and gento . Almost same pronunciation

I'm always in awe whenever a foreigner gets the true meaning of this song of SB19, you got it perfect, Mom and Dad are the best map for their children. One of the leading ice cream brands in the Philippines, Selecta, sponsored an MV for Mapa. It was actually an ad starring the boys and it depicts their childhood memories. So heartwarming.

MAPA has 3 layers of meaning. First layer is the simple Mom and Dad. Second layer is the Map. Last is you won't catch unless you speak our language. The song writer used wordplay to indicate that the Mom is the eyes (MAta = eyes in Tagalog) and the Dad is the feet (PAa = feet in tagalog). That's why you hear in the lyrics that the Mom is the eyes guiding when lost and the Dad is the feet, carrying the children when they're crawling. This third layer is what will really break you, if you're like me who isn't really that emotional.

MAPA reactions will always tug my heartstrings, especially when reactors like you take time to dissect the lyrics and understand the melody and visualizer.. Pablo, their leader and composer, wrote this with the group's take to what they want to convey to their parents, which is why each part is heartfelt. The second verse sung by Josh hits differently knowing that he grew up without a father.. hope you would listen to their songs, upbeat and ballads both because they are incredibly amazing..

This guys made their music thats why you can really relate. Even if you didn't read the lyrics you can feel the message by hearing only their voices. They masterpiece are different from other song that only last in 2 mins and repeating words chorus like most of the kpop song now.

It always makes me happy whenever I watch reactors who actually discover the meaning of the song. Some only reacts. But others reacts, analyze, and think. I’m only at the beginning of your rv and I know I’m going to enjoy your take. If you want to see the guys sing it (or any of their songs) live, the Wish Bus performances are it. The band version is great but delivers a different feeling, imo. It’s more celebratory a bit less hit-in-the-gut feels. Thanks for this. The leader, Pablo is the main composer of almost all their songs. He's a genius and loves to use wordplay. I'll be watching on how you deep dive to this group. You'll know how special each and every member is. Ben & Ben is actually an indie folk group. What you heard was another version of Mapa since it's a collaboration of both groups. I recommend to you "Back Home" by The Juans. It's a completely English song. But you MUST only react to the live version where they are singing live around a piano with a choir surrounding them. Ben & Ben is the band with the twins as the vocals. They're really emblematic of what Filipino music is like. Heavily emotional and lyrical. OPM really thrives in this space.
