Thanks for reacting to this song Max! And we appreciate it sharing it to your mom and getting into the bits of it emotionally and even sharing us a little bit more about of yourself as the song moved you. This song is dedicated for the Mom(Ma) and Dad(Pa) in people's lives, but also in general to people who guided you in life, hence the name MAPA(filipino word for MAP in English). Hope you continue loving songs of SB19 even more and maybe you and your mom get to see SB19 perform live in the near future! They've recently visited Canada actually for their last tour! Thanks again for this reaction!🙏

She actually started to cry when she heard the lyrics "We don't always see each other anymore" because it is really touching and a sad reality for most of us like me. I'm working elsewhere thus, I don't live with my mom anymore and not able to visit her very often so this song always remind me that I need to spend more time with her and show my love more. Honestly, I'm also always teary eyed whenever I hear this song play randomly. Thisis one of my favorites.

Pablo is so smart using MAPA with a lot of meaning. MAPA(MAMA(mother)PAPA(father) , MAPA(MAta(eyes) and PAa(feet). In short our mom is our eyes when the surroundings is starting to change and our dad is our feet who's guiding us in our life. our parents is our MAPA(map) in our life. Thanks for reaction. 🥰

I’d like to add… besides our parents being our guide, most of the Filipino parents are OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) so the map visual is also a symbolism for the unsung heroes of our country.

Hi, Max! You mom is correct. MAPA is the combination of "Ma" (mother) and "Pa" (father), at the same time it means "map" in our language. The title itself implies that our parents are our life guide. The song is indeed a wonderful piece made by Pablo, and the beautiful voices of the other members added more flavor to it. I'm glad that you and your awesome mom appreciated it. 😊

I hope everybody appreciates the word play in this song... The title is MAPA. In Filipino it means, a map. Our parents are the maps that guide us in this world. But, it's also short for... Ma (Mom) and Pa (Dad) And in the lyrics... the Ma (mom) is the MAta (or eyes), and the Pa (dad) is the PAa (or feet) Eyes and feet that guide us through life. So beautiful ♥

I began following SB19 while taking care of my 96 year old dad for his final years with us. I watched this song over and over through reactions of people of all ages all over the world. Your mom's reaction is normal! Just a little background, Ken, with the low voice was raised by his Grandparents as his parents chose to work overseas to provide for their family. He had only seen them a few times in his life. Josh, who sang the Papa part, was raised by his mom and never met his dad. He finally met his half siblings but sadly it was to late to meet his dad. This song is dedicated to any parent figure that helps to raise children! This is a very different group! Every SB19 ballad is emotional and special! The lyric video was designed by Justin, the youngest member and creative director of the group. Might I suggest the Wish USA bus performance, with English subs to get to know the actual members! After that Nyebe is another beautiful song. The official visualizer has English subs.

JUST by this song, I could easily say, how great and beautiful PABLO's heart is. Let's face it, not all would write this kind of song. Most, having a hard time just to say or express how they feel to their parents. And this song, somehow, a way to let tour parents know how you feel about them.. SB19 never fails to express what feeling should you feel for the song they are performing. Their emotions are so contagious, wether it be a hype, a banger,or a love song. They will put their listeners ' into that very moment. They are so passionate. SB19 is A GREAT STORYTELLER!❤

Other gems in this song that make the song (and Pablo's songwriting genius) even greater once you know them: "Lataratara tara" - From a lullaby Pablo recalls from his childhood, that he built this song around that is now being sung back to the parents. Going full circle! "Ma ... You are my eyes" 👀-- The Tagalog word for eye is "mata", which begins with the syllable "Ma" "Pa ... You are my feet" 👣 -- The Tagalog word for feet is "paa", which begins with the syllable "Pa"

From the paper boat which we enjoyed playing during childhood to the paper airplane representing adulthood when we go to faraway places but always coming back home. I like what you said there, "The music that I love the most are the ones that moved me." Being Filipino, we acknowledged the sacrifices our parents did for working so hard to give us the best life, to get education, everything. And now that we are able to stand on our own, we'd like to repay (for the lack of terms) by taking care of them in their old age and see to it that they got everything they need. It is emotional because it's a taboo for us to discuss such things with our parents, we just do it. That's my opinion.

You know what Max, the first few lines of the “father” verse is sang by Josh and he is just like you. He had no relationship with his father and if I remember it right, he doesn’t even know him. So, you can imagine the courage he needed to muster to sing those lines without breaking down. That’s why we A’tin genuinely love the boys because of their life stories. Their talents are just icing on a cake. Hugs to your mom for making her cry. 🤗💕

Oh, wow! Never expected you would do this so soon but I am glad you did. And your mom already cried after only listening to the first line. That was something else. This song was born out of a laundry room when they were quarantined together during the Covid 19 Pandemic. They were missing their families so much and Pablo asked them what would they like to say to their parents. This was just a heartwarming tribute not just to their parents and guardians but to all our loving parents who sacrificed so much for us. This song is a staple during graduation ceremonies and even weddings. Just a little backgrounder. Josh sang the Papa part and he was so brave to take it in as he and his sister grew up without knowing their dad. They were raised by a single mom and became so poor he became homeless by age 15. Ken grew up without his parents. They were living in a far flung province and were so poor his parents decided to work in Malaysia, leaving him and his sister in the care of his grandparents. His grandfather and father are both pastors so Ken grew up in a Christian church and that's where his musical talents got honed. Every time he has a chance during interviews, he is so proud to say that he is a Pastor's kid and grandkid. When they had their first online concert, Ken was crying when he was singing his part because he was missing his family so much. He only got to see his parents twice at that time, once when he was 5 yrs old and once when he was 1st year college. Towards the end of the song, the other member's parents and families went out the stage. Ken was smiling and so happy for them, only to be surprised when his sister and uncle appeared. He then fell on the floor and cried so hard. This was the boys' surprise for him, knowing how much it will mean to him. They said they were all nervous Ken might see them beforehand as they were staying in the same hotel. I am so happy that they have become successful as the road they took to reach where they are right now was never easy. They faced so much difficulties and the one reason they pushed thru was their families. And in spite of all the success, their feet remained firmly on the ground and always looks back to their humble beginnings. Hopefully, you can also watch with your mom the live version of MAPA on Wish Bus USA. They sound better singing this live and it's English subbed as well. Thank you for sharing this with your mom. I hope we can see more of her in the future.

It’s actually a perfect song for both of you to react to because it serves as a conversation piece for the parent and the child to be open to discuss how they feel for each other when, otherwise without it, some might find it difficult to sort of get the ball rolling. This song never fails to make me emotional, as well, it’s a certified classic and will always be relatable to everyone who listens to it. 💙

In the Philippines, we don't put our older parents in the nursing home, just as our grandparents if they are still around. They live in our homes too. The one who sang the tribute to the father is Josh - he grew up without knowing his Dad. It's important that he accepts this, so Pablo let him sing that part. Music is really universal, messages about parents makes you cry. Thank you for reacting to this widely listened SB19 song. Let your son find a Filipino girl and she will love you too like she loves her Mom!!!

A little trivia Max: the verse about the Dad was sung by their member Josh, who has never known his dad all his life. He said in one interview that he heard from distant relatives that his dad wasn't mentally well anymore, so introducing himself to him would be futile. (S/n: I'm also a single mom trying to raise my two kids on my own.) I'd also like to recommend SB19's song Ilaw ("Light"), which deals with mental health and loneliness.

The lyrics are great and the visuals are connected. Mapa in english means map. The child will not go astray because he has the map, which symbolizes How he was molded and guided as a person by his parents (ma,pa). And yeah, what's most touching there is the ensurement that everythings on his now, parents, you may now rest. You' ve dome so much more that what is needed, you always put your children first before yourselves. So, yeah, you may rest now. I'll take care of everything... Genius songwriting! I love how ur mom was so emotional... Sending love!

In our culture in the Philippines, family is very important. It is normal for us to look forward in taking care of our parents when they are older. We see and value their sacrifices for us and we wanna do the same to them when they get old.One of our goals in life is to make our parents rest and live their lives without worrying of what to eat paying bills and medical expenses.Even if we dont make it well in life, we still take care of them specially when they get old .We don't put our parents in Care Homes , we stick together no matter what❤ As a young parent, this makes me cry. Thinking of a child love and affection for their parents to be this great❤

Warning: Long Message ahead. Message below aims to answer some of your questions you have in mind. Hope this helps. (1) MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents) (2) Mapa = Map (English) (3) MaPa = Mata and Paa (Eyes & Feet) (4) Lataratara = There is no direct translation (Prolly) for this. This is a lullaby, a hymn normally our Mom makes every time she puts us to sleep. Remember our [1]MaPa normally just utter any sound tucking us in. Our Map is our [1]MaPa in this Life journey. Both used and present on this song. This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19. The release of the magical song was intended between the mother’s day and father’s day since the song is for them. This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them. In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advice they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map). The Map that we can bring anywhere we go. The map that contains all the leanings and guidance our [1]MaPa gave us. In the Filipino culture (or prolly in other culture), we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parents to stay still, we want to serve them and it’s time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the tiresome days and time they give and sacrifices for us. This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason. Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. There’s this Filipino saying “isusubo nalang nila, ibibigay pa sa’yo” This can be translated as our parent always put us first. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing. Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Catch and pick us up and encourage us to try again. For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa. For those OFW parents (MaPa) doing the great sacrifices for their Kids, Salute! Those OFW Kids making every effort to provide and give back their MaPa’s, Salute. Watching this masterpiece brings me home every time. Let’s not wait for the time where we regret.. call them now and let them know how much we love and treasure them. Each one of us has a story to tell with regard to our MaPa and Mapa. I wanna hear em. You may share and comment your story here. This second single, MAPA answers the “Where” from this comeback. IF the song “What” is proudly swinging our Flags, this “Where” is talking about our Origin, our parents and wherever we go, we will always go back to ur family. This masterpiece deserves to be heard around the Universe. This song deserves to be sang only by SB19 in different language respectfully. This Love letter hits us Filipino the most because it’s on the original language. The world deserves to hear this on their own language. Petition for our boys (EsBi) to do so. And hey, Watch out for the Easter eggs in the ending Map.

I heard this song a hundred times already and I consider this song as a promise to my parents that I will get to that point where I can tell them to rest and let me do things for them but I cried again watching your genuine reactions. Pablo asked the members what they wanted to say to their Parents/ parent figures and He is fond of wordplay. Your Mom was right that this song is for Mama and Papa and MAPA means Map, because they are our guide in life that's why we'll never be lost. Justin, (creative director) showed here that a parent's job is 24/7 that's why there's a sun and moon on the map. Like you, Josh who sang the Father part never met his Dad but still slayed his part. Thank you for appreciating them and Please watch their wish bus performance with CC on. Thank You in advance, May You and your Mom create more beautiful memories together 💙💠
