Great childhood memories. Even the old PBS logo is here. Kid's TV sucks today. They teach the children NOTHING! The current illiteracy rate is a crime. We need more shows like the ORIGINAL Electric Company and less crap.
My mother hyped up The Electric Company to me when it first came out. I would have been about 9 years old & like my peers was a big fan of Sesame Street. I remember watching a few episodes but it didn't really connect for some reason. i remember it being interesting & rewatching these clips now -the energy is there for sure. The missing ingredient......muppets.
I know what you mean I grew up watching electric company since I was a kid.
from 1975 remember this like it was yesterday. Well, more like yesteryear
PBS had shows that stuck to specific subjects. 70s: electric company: English 80s: square one: math 90s: carmen sandiego: geography and history
I remember Rita Moreno playing a film director who always had to deal with flubs on a movie set…and that got her very exasperated. She slams down her megaphone in disgust! Now look at Rita Moreno NOW! She recently did a film called 80 FOR BRADY. Kenneth Huang 2/25/23.

So Preston's Prized Pretzels was on somewhere in the second to 6th seasons but Buddy introduced it.
In a sketch referring to "Fiddler on the Roof", someone pronounced "Fiddler" like "Fiedler"-the Boston Pops conductor at the time. I consider that one of CTW's many hat-tips to other PBS content.

it was jim boyd who did the voiceover.
Reminds me of the Bealtle's A Hard Day's Night.
Why didn't they include Bayn Johnson or Stephen Gustafson in the credits for Short Circus? They gave non season 5 credits for the missing adults! (Bill Cosby, etc.)
Which seasons had Gregg Burrgess as Dwayne?
I had a HUGE crush on her.

Love this! But where are the band members? That's Danny Epstein and Steve Little (percussion), possibly Bob Crenshaw on bass? Wally Kane on flute, might be Jim Mitchell on guitar, Mel Davis on trumpet, and not sure at all who's playing electric piano if Raposo had left already.

What do you mean like keep the Hey You Guys yell but change the show around? Most of the Short Circus people are in plays writing books and basically retired now. Don't forget Gregg Burge who died from AIDS years ago.

Ah, such sweet childhood memories. I don't see why they can't re-run these old EC shows for today's children. Lord knows they'd do a hell of a better job at tgeaching kids grammer and such than today's PBS puke shows! Also, you'll notice the credits mentioned "U.S. OFFICE of Education". Not Department. We DO NOT need this incompetent, useless bureaucracy overseeing our schools. DISBAND the Dept of Education, bring BACK the OFFICE of education. At least THEY permitted LOCAL control over schools
they are all still alive. You have a great idea, but it is a different time today. The new one seems to working for the times of today.
