It came from a cartoon sketch that was also on the Electric Company. I bet it's up here on KZread somewhere, but it has a plumber knocking on the door and repeatedly being answered by a parrot who says "Who is it?", to which he always replies "It's the plumber! I've come to fix the sink!"

And the Fargo North segment “Your desk is on fire,” the one Corsican twins segment where they keep inflicting pain on each other (Skip and Jim are seen simultaneously falling on their backs), and the segment where Crank gets a pie in the face while teaching the two sounds of ie(timed perfectly, at that-the pie comes in out of nowhere hitting him in the face right on the final note), to name a few others seen during the final season’s Friday end credits.

And one of the clever entertaining ways they used to demonstrate how one consonant letter in the middle of a word makes the preceding vowel long,(as in super)while twin consonant letters shorten the preceding vowel(as in counterpart supper). Just as the silent e at the end of a word lengthens the preceding vowel(as in kite), while the i in counterpart kit is short. Trivia: The other day I came across an early EC episode from season 2(I think), also teaching this same concept on twin consonant letters vs a single consonant in the middle of a word-this one has a brief segment with Rita Moreno and the Short Circus kids, spelling the word cuter(Rita is the u and four of the short circus kids hold the c, t, e, and r), then the missing SC kid shows up carrying the other t and Luis Avalos in voiceover tells Rita, “You(U)changed! U changed to UH!(short u of course). By the same token, there’s a brief segment of her with the short circus kids in episode 232, spelling “diner”(she’s the i, Kathy holds the d, Zachary the n, Buddy the e and Allison the r, then Julie shows up carrying the other n, and Rita exclaims,”Hey! I(pun on the letter and first person singular of course)changed, from long to short!(as the word is now dinner.) Clever puns on both I and U there.

Love how Jim Boyd leaves just as the ceiling breaks. I think he wants to avoid the super's wrath.

Same here. Loved how Jim could play a serious but calm guy in a desperate situation without using his J. Arthur Crank or Wall angry tone of voice. Just as the ceiling is about to cave in and scaring him out the door had me me in stitches.😄😂🤣

It was always typical for Electric Company to reuse "catch phrases" such as "It's the plumber--I've come to fix the sink." Others that come to mind are "That's not the note" and "Who's the dummy writing this show." This is such a clever way to illustrate the double-letter rule where the vowel sound before the doubled letter changes.

I'm rather surprised Mel Brooks never popped off with "Who's the dummy writing this show?" in Spaceballs, as either President Scroob or Yogurt.

Morgan's characters have had shouting matches with Hattie's characters like the "Too Much/Too Little Pepper" segment. However, I would have died to have seen a heated shouting match between one of Morgan's characters and Jim's J. Arthur Crank. 🤫🍿🥤😃😄😂🤣

I have had ceiling leaks in my apartment from a toilet or sink flooding in the bathroom above mine. I am in a rental apartment in a highrise building in downtown Chicago, and I have always had maintenance come right away to take care of the leak.

If you want laughs and giggles, this is the PERFECT video. Morgan Freeman''s screaming and supper eating, Jim Boyd's calmness during desperation until he got agitated with the super's wife, played by Hattie Winston, the ceiling caving in with Morgan and his supper drenched with water and Luis Àvalos's plumber character with the "I'm late, who cares" attitude is why The Electric Company as a TV classic. A great alternate to Saturday Night Live. 😃😄😂🤣
