Charming presentation as always and a very nice bike but without gears it is a no go except when living in flat Terrain. I online need a motor for steep inclines and strong Winds and there it is unfortunatly suboptimal.

Why don't you ever review ebikes from the big established bike brands like Giant, Canyon, Cannondale, Cube etc? All of the ebikes I'm interested in from these brands literally no one does reviews for.

  • @LimitedWard

Personally, if they have to pick, I'd rather have them review these direct-to-consumer brands because there's often no way to test these bikes out before purchasing. But I do agree it would be nice if they could expand to more brands in general.

Like for cars, I presume reviews are an arrangement between a supplier and a retailer -- Giant, Canyon and Cannondale will incentivate their own retailers to publish reviews, but have little interest in facilitating channels linked to a business that does not sell their product. The next question could be "why does Electroheads not sell Giant etc" and the answer is in profit margins, training and support requirements, catchment areas ... it might be much better for Electroheads to sell less known brands with excellent products.

Good honest review. I just hate the shape of the handlebars. I wouldn't say the bike is heavy, I would say it is rugged. I'll stick to my £60 mountain bike with Bafang BBSHD,, and continue to do battle with the terrible drivers around Sakon Nakhon City in North East Thailand.

When you test no assist could you also try with the motor off, I know with my electric bike, with no assist selected it’s heavy but ok, if the battery cuts out then it’s like the motor adds loads of resistance and it gets twice as hard to move it.

Definitely! That's one I missed so apologies 🙏 it's rideable without assist, but when you get to inclines with a stopstart combo you'll probably be out of your seat and pedalling

When i think of the beneficial side of ebikes I can only see those of the other side of the pond... 20 mph, throttle, 750w, 30+mile, no pedal assist. Average 15mph on throttle, 75 miles, still charge after 5 hours riding. @@LegendOfKat

If your level of health or fitness is below average then that hill would probably be a dead stop for a lot of people on a manual geared bike. So many people with average and above fitness tend to arrogantly presume that anyone who can't do what they can is just lazy.

The YT algorithm is serving me Electroheads videos uninterruptedly for the past couple of weeks -- you guys made a lot of videos, and I still haven't encountered one that I didn't like, or one that didn't make me laugh in some ways (Brompton ...) On this bike, I can't help thinking that an internal geared hub (like an Enviolo as on the Tenways Ago T -- which costs twice this) would make it perfect, but would require the motor to be elsewhere than in the rear hub. I don't think the gears can be replaced by assist levels, no more than a more powerful engine doesn't replace the gearing on a car (EVs are an exception but not really, powerful EVs like Eilis' favourite Taycan have a 2-gear axle for faster starts and effortless cruising): on take off from standstill, you won't mind pedalling faster, but once you want to cover miles, you may want to move the legs slower: you can only do that with gears. The fixie is a different idea again, but it's very far away from this bike. Final consideration, that dashboard tablet is very cute, does it come off for security? And the apple tag in the bell ... the bell is metal ... I'm not surprised that the air tag didn't work, it must be a faraday cage... also, it's very easy to remove, I bet bike thieves look around in the bell and throw it away. Will you show us the locks you were using? Do I remember you offering a video on security? Great job, next time I'm in London I'll bring you fudge (I personally h4te the stuff ...)

  • @Electroheads

Thank you!! Glad to hear you've been enjoying all our content ☺ To answer your questions the display doesn't come off and the airtag works perfectly in the metal bell, I was just sat in a location with no signal (in London of all places!!) I look forward to the fudge!

Excellent and honest review. That second hill looked like it was easily twice as steep as the first. A geared bike with more torque would make it up that in the lowest gear. Good to see that the battery is Samsung which should take away some of the fire and explosion fear that plagues cheap Chinese no-name batteries.
