Hi, I personally recently bought Ado Beast and decided to sell my car. Now I cycle to the next city (6 miles 1 way) and then by train. In summer I will try to cycle directly to my work by bike (around 16 miles).

A couple of weeks ago I bought the Estarli E28 which is down to you guys as I first saw the bike on this channel. I didn't buy it from you because I live near the Berkhamsted factory and I bought it from a bike shop in Tring. It's a great bike so far and it's had a few mods along the way like metal mudguards, bike rack and stem extender. As I'm 6ft 6 I needed that little bit of adjustment to make the bike comfortable. I'm not sure of the range yet as the battery is still 'bedding in' but since my last charge it's done over 20 miles and lost just one bar. I would recommend this bike to anyone.

Converted my Trek mtb with a Bafang mid drive and no longer need a car especially for the short journeys that I used to make. Already hit 1k miles in 3 months! 👍⚡⚡

I own a "rival" bike shop in London, and I've got to admit, this is an awesome video. Really good to watch and clearly written by someone who actually rides and understands bikes, great work 👍

Living in a hilly city in Switzerland, I've been loving seeing the increasing number of people zooping up the steep streets on their e-bikes. Certain streets, certain times of day, the bikers can go a kilometer in the time it takes a car to inch forward 100m. Personally, I'm still using 100% pedal power, but I've got also got an older bike that I'll convert to electric when the time is right. Between walking, riding, and taking public transport when it is too far or too wet, I can think of a grand total of two times in the last 5 years when I needed to bum a favor from a friend with a car, to help move some bulky piece of furniture. The insurance I haven't paid in those 5 years? The petrol? The parking? The tolls? The car payments? Gee whiz, I spent a few hundred for a folding bike, and about 40 for walking sticks, so getting rid of the car is a total no-brainer financially. As to the move to an electric bike, my daughter and I did a biking holiday on a couple of e-bikes in the Netherlands and it was a delightful week - anyone watching this video who is teetering on the edge, these things are so much better than your car, in terms of your personal satisfaction with how you move around town!

Buying an ebike I learnt that there are so many trade offs depending on your budget - power of the motor, battery, security etc.

Unfortunately these won't do my 32 mile commute on fast A roads but my OH could for her 2 mile but she is a nervous cyclist and the roads are only so so for cycling. I was tempted by the mycycle classic for her and at £1k seemed worth a punt to see if she would opt to use it, while we were considering it they withdrew the thing from sale. Bike 2 in this video looks an option but is much more expensive will there be some offers on this coming up?

Can we get a full review on the estarli cargo please? I was looking at getting a radwagon but they pulled out of Europe so looking at an alternative family wagon. Would rather some more detail before dropping 3 grand though. Thanks.

Yep, Rad Power are making major cut backs including ditching all their European and UK sales. Lots of jobs have been axed and stores have been closed. They are trying to focus on less is more (quality) and just doing it on home turf, After so many runs ins with liable cases and model recalls over safety issues.

When I bike commuted because I was putting off buying a car, I included gasoline and car insurance in my calculation. Paid off the e-bike in less than a year given those considerations. The good mood was a bonus.

I purchased a non road legal ebike, named the coswheel gt20, paid about 1200 pounds, it looks like a motor cycle has indicators, and cane even be registered as a road bike(it has a VIN) it only does 30mph but thats perfect for me, i have set it to act like a 250w ebike having it cut off at 15.5 Mph till i can get it licensed. The throttle i set to 5km(3mph) just so i can not get in trouble. I do ride it at 30mph still but for daily commuting into a busy city (manchester) i change everything down just so i can't get jn trouble. The manufacturer even put a 250w sticker on for me. (its truly 1500w) it has a massive 25ah 48v battery and gets me about (@15.5-20mph with pedalling) about 100-120miles range depending on hills, and other conditions. I only need to charge it once a week for commuting purposes(10 miles ecah way) (i charge it at work whenever not to get voltage sag) had it for 2 weeks and havent paid once for it to be charged. But if i did id get a week riding on 40 pence

Your costings are a bit off IMHO. At the end of the first year you own the bike, so you now have an asset so year two would be way cheaper

make sure u maintain ur ebike, buy a bike cover and a battery cover, don't store it while wet and rub it down after each ride, store ur bike inside work if you can and your house. i just had to spend 470£ on repairs

I am just getting into the e bike space and there is not a single video on my category😢maybe you can give me a helping hand. 💪 I am looking for an e bike that is best suited for a kids carriage. Where safety, stopping and range will be important. Thanks and have a great day

The throttle is very pointless on mirider.. i think the throttle should be 15mph but only when a sensor spots you going up a steep hill. I always wondered if the throttle could be hacked to change speed.

Great (re)cycling 😂😂😂 I can only agree with your choices, however I must slightly discuss the maths: 1, in London and (worse) Brussels and other cities, there is a congestion charge. Brussels is worse because the CC zone (they call it LEZ) goes al the way to "their" M25, and there is no way to avoid it -- if one lives within the LEZ, they are charged as soon as they drive. So for that couple of million people, there are 3 choices: EV, public transport, or bicycle. Adding that the weather is not as sunny as your London videos. 2. Assuming one has the legs and the health to cycle to work, there is a maximum practical commuting distance. If you live in St. Albans, you're not going to commute to Canary Wharf just on the bike ... so "some form" of public transport will need to be budgeted in. I understand that you can't calculate all the simulations without losing the room :) we should probably make a "bike use case calculator" on your webpage based on start/end point, proportion of transport and last mile. 3. You're not going to like this one. Cycling requires a certain health. Fresh air means effin'freezing in the winter, and if one starts sneezing five days a week, their cycling to work isn't going to last long. And then there's the saddle ... I know I'm always mentioning Manta Saddle (not affiliated) but especially for older boys, it's a concern. Before switching to commuting 100% on a bike, a medical check-up is wise, especially for over-50s.

i dont know . Bromtons are good but its mainly the Name at this point . and the e kit on them is often just a cheap front hub motor . you should go test ride some quality folders . i got Lunacycles Fold . it is Choice with american built battery and charger w super reliable bbs02 , all for less than a bromton without power would cost

  • @Alessandro---

    @Alessandro---

Be my guest to spend "from" £3500 (£4500 for the titanium model) for a Brompton. 7 years warranty doesn't mean much, if it takes 7 years to find a manufacturing defect, it means the bike was never used. I haven't driven the bikes @electroheads Eilis is testing here, but I did try a Brompton for 24 hours, and just looking at the tyres/wheels/suspension combinations, I can see how the Brompton is a "classic" but these are the "future"

quality is always in fashion, junk is junk. The fact that my 10 year old Brompton ha kept in line with inflation makes it a good investment.@@Alessandro---
