After the regulars were used to me, and the owner stopped telling everyone I was immigration, LoL they called me Blanca and introduced me to a world beyond jalapeno poppers. The Masa looks dry this way. Has anyone mad them like this? If so what is the consistency? Are these sold to uninformed gringos? Me and my husband tried it out one year my husband's Hispanic and I came from a big Hispanic family and to be honest it wasn't right the Masa just wasn't as good as everybody else's it was a lot of work it is not easy at all people think making tamales is easy no it's not to get the right consistency in the husk with the right consistency of meat it's a skill it really is and to be honest I never tried it again so 20 years later looking at this I would be willing to try this but I'm not going to sit and pretend that it's going to be as good as maybe people who can authentically make them properly I think this is a good hack for somebody like me who can't make them that way and this might be a way that I can actually pull it off and since I don't live in New Mexico anymore it's not like I can go and buy authentic tamales from someone in the neighborhood so this might be an idea.

Fluff some lard with a hand mixer and add to the prepared masa then if needed add small amounts of water or broth and the masa will be soft and spreadable. This mass is too dry. Dry tamales.
