I promise you, if you’ve made it this far as to clicking on this video, you’re already a better scripter than 90% of the non-developers. Having your new mindset and personal self-drive for education puts you MILES ahead of the “average” scripter who went through KZread tutorials for a few hours last night. You are going to surpass everyone else in the blink of an eye.

I honestly find tutorials well SOME tutorials a good thing as they explain the functions & how they made it work, this can help the viewer solve things in the future knowing similar functions & code from previous tutorials the same can go for free models looking through it's code seeing how it functions, it helped me a tons mainly coming from GnomeCode & Metro

Pretty good video. As a scripter, I think the only thing you need is motivation. As long as you enjoy it, you'll keep learning. If you get an error you can't solve, don't quit, just move on. Keep learning and you'll eventually get to a point where you will understand what was wrong and you will never do the same mistake again

@@NoobArmy46make a project for fisrt, then like whatever you want to add you go and google it, for example, when I was started learning coding, I just started to make obby, first thing I gone to google to see how to make a stage, moving lasers, damaging script, moving parts, invisible parts, appearing/disappearing parts etc. After all tutorials I was saving the code in my notebook so whenever I need that for my later more big project so I can use them, and boom after like 2 months doing this stuff I literally learned all scripting basics, and can myself make a basic decent playable project

Really great and informational video! Although, for future videos I suggest having something to focus on 100% of the time like the images you bring up over the blurry gameplay or unblurring the gameplay when there's no image to show. It kinda hurt my eyes a lot while trying to focus on the gameplay 😅 but besides that, it is very well edited!

heres an idea: a game that holds datastores and uses a leaderboard with sword combat, and the leaderboard holds time. this isnt very original, but its something that can really get fps/simulator game devs a chance to actually understand those codes. as i was about to give up since the devhub beginners guide was too complicated sometimes and i had so many questions, now that i learned that i need to start somewhere, i decided to pick datastores as something i want to learn, i learned a lot of things i already knew (loops, functions, variables) but i also learned a lot of things i never knew, which eventually did lead me to be like "oh this uses the code that the datastores use, ill do this" and i kept on going till i basically have an actual game im making, and remember, i have a lot more to learn and im not nowhere finished yet even if i make an entire fps game, i wouldnt be nowhere done, lua holds so much that, you wont be able to learn every single thing. we can never finish learning lua, just like studying, just like normal languages. its all on you, i wanted to script since 2020, but i kept giving up and realising i was just not understanding why i was giving up, and the reason i was giving up was that things were complicated, and now im all good to go, you can learn scripting, trust me.

Love this comment because so many people get stuck here. Here's how I would approach it: 1. Learn the basics of programming in general. What is a loop? If Statement? Conditions? 2. Learn these things in Lua (Use this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fal-27umlMvbZ6g.html) 3. Follow a tutorial and do not copy any code unless you understand it. 4. Repeat 3 until you get a grasp and never run into unreadable code. - It's like learning a language. You'll get the hang of it, good luck!

I didn’t realize there were different things you can learn in scripting, like data store service. Is there a way to find what strands of scripting are easy, or do I just google this stuff

I would recommend looking through the documentation and seeing what looks easier to you, and just trying everything is a good way to go about it.

Hello friend, I am a beginner in the world of script, I live in Spain and as you will understand I speak Spanish, then making scripts is more difficult than English people since I have to be translating every word I put, Just like I have a hard time understanding scripts, I also have a hard time understanding video, so I’d like to ask you what I have to do or what you did in order to advance in the script world and not get stuck, so I could create simulators, thank you very much for taking the trouble to read the comment :)

No trouble! Scripting can be hard if English is not your first language. How to learns scripting: Watch a beginner scripting tutorial series. Watch a how to make a tycoon series and use what you learned while doing it.

I have good background of C and Assembly programming. I worked with the old Intel 8086 and Z80, made websites in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. In 30-40 minutes I basically learned 60/70% of Lua.

The advise for not-programmers is: Don't start with ROBLOX, don't start with LUA, start with C, it's a good start to easily understand other programming languages. Don't worry, after you will learn it, other languages will be simple asf to learn. I know that maybe C is boring, making simple exercise with arrays, variables and problem solving is boring.. but this is the basics. Computer science, or basically Informatics is the "art" of manipulating data to obtaining desired results.

A proper advice: Never just copy-paste the code, observe it, and understand it. This way it would become easier for your to remember how you can solve a problem the next time it occurs.

Good point! I only copied code if I understood everything. I followed a simulator series and only copied when I understood, if I didn't - I would continue TheDevKing's scripting series until I did, then continued my simulator.

So for example, if you want to create dropper for tyccon. Should you copy the code and try to undertand what each code means or just do it from a zero?

@@nikocz88 Copy, and understand. The next time you use the same piece of code, try to recall whatever you learned, if you can't copy again, but still look at it carefully again, and see what you missed.

Okay first use an all-in-one guide like this one: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fal-27umlMvbZ6g.html Then make sure you copy and repeat everything in the video. This will ensure that you learn and stick stuff in your head. After that, follow a series like my simulator series and do not copy any code unless you understand it. If you do not understand any code, learn it before copying it. After you do this 2-3 times, you will pretty much have scripting down!
