Regardless, most reasonable science oriented individuals agree with what’s said in the video. You can run a small scale experiment yourself if you don’t believe him, sleep normally for 30 days and record the times you went to sleep every day, and how tired you felt; then do the same except put your phone on the kitchen counter or in a safe for 30 days (and record obv). sorry for the long response just a lot to talk abt

I understand what you are saying, but I know there have been many different studies of all different sizes that are similar to this, that have shown similar results. I remember my parents and sister taking part in a study a long time age, that compared people who didn’t have phones, to people who have never had their phones in their rooms, to people who had always left their phones in their bed room. They had to go into the university about once a week, where they would run a bunch of tests and fill out surveys on mental health and life in general. I remember in the end the results were very similar to this video.

A sample size of around 100 is plenty large enough to form reasonable confidence intervals. However, the placebo effect could be very real, but it should be reflected in the variance. If the C.I. for the ratio of variances includes 1, then this video is 100% accurate from a statistics POV.

This is something everyone can easily try and assess for themselves. I lay awake a lot due to chronic pain so used my phone as a crutch, but it's also this 'what do I even do' or mindlessly wasting hours thing. For me getting a kindle was a game-changer. Over the years I've slowly 'allowed' myself more and more phone-free time windows and it makes me calmer and happier. Definitely not something for everyone.

It really depends on the personal restrictions you can do. Some people can't just take a break from phones while others can easily turn off the phone when the washing machine finishes your clothes.

To an extent, having a place outside the bedroom to safely and conveniently leave your phone is a privelege, not everyone owns a house or rents an apartment. A lot of people only have access to a single room, maybe even a shared room

I sleep easier with my phone. Since i fall asleep when watching youtube vids and It's my alarm to wake up lol but when I had my computer in my room , it was harder for me to sleep. Prob cause I lay down when I'm on my phone whereas I sit up on my laptop so I dont feel tired as easily.

I keep my phone with me and I sleep like a baby every night. In fact, not having my phone would give me anxiety because I like to know that I can quickly get to the phone if an emergency pops up. The only social media I use is KZread so I think this applies more to people addicted to Twitter, Instagram, fb etc

Turn off notifications from Instagram and Facebook, WhatsApp groups off as well, set a monochrome icon set, and also set "do not disturb" between midnight and 8 am. At least it worked for me.

I don’t keep my phone out of my bedroom, but I sure keep it a place I can’t reach from my bed! This way I also have to physically get out of bed to turn of my alarm. Also I think the fact that I stop with my phone half an hour before going to bed helps too. (I only do this on days where I don’t have school the next day so usually only on fridays and saturdays. :/)
