This is a common technique called the "Burrito Method". Still is effective, however before turning loop right sides out, I insert elastic through tube, stitch elastic ends together, then pull it all through the 2" opening I've left. This achieves the same end result, it's just a bit easier to thread the elastic right through the center of the tube, rather than fish it through once turned right side out. Beautifully made video!

There’s an easier way when doing the elastic. Before turning the scrunchy right side out, you slide your elastic through the tube; tie the elastic in a knot; then turn it. I think it’s a real time saver.

I've been sewing scrunchies with this method for a few years, it's really the best way! Instead of stitching the elastic I just tie the elastic ends together before stitching the scrunchie opening, and just add an extra inch or so to the elastic measurement.

I use this method. From one yard, I can get exactly 4 XL scrunchies cut at 6 inches X WOF, 4 regular cut at 4.5 X 1/2 WOF and 2 mini cut at 3 inches X 1/2 WOF. Elastic is cut at 9, 8 and 7 inches respectively. I knot the elastic as it’s my preference. Then I hand stitch the opening closed. I learned this from trial and error, many many errors. 😂

I just tried making a couple scrunchies for fun this week. I nailed one because I followed directions to a T. But I played around with my third one on the fabric sizes and it didn’t turn out very “scrunchy”. It was jumbo looking, as I wanted it however. I’d thought it was the elastic where I went wrong. Thinking I needed thicker elastic to make it appear fuller inside. But now I really think I needed the fabric to be much longer. My measurements were 4x24. 4”when folded. So I did actually cut it 8” wide so it would eventually be 4”.

    Sure! Try 101cm x 15cm for a jumbo, 71cm x 10cm for a regular, and 46cm x 8cm for a mini.

We are a US company, so we use the Imperial system, but we love the Metric system too! Here's a handy conversion tool: www.rapidtables.com/convert/length/inch-to-cm.html

Try slowing the speed of the video down and pause it at each step. Sometimes it's helpful to write each step down on a piece of paper or in a note pad as you go and put it in "your language" so to speak. The main things are understanding your sewing machine and type of fabric you are using, having the correct measurements, sewing the short ends together with the right sides of the fabric facing each other, then the trickiest part is then turning it over, rolling your top pieces up inside as you sew the bottom layers and form the tube. Watch this section only several times with the speed of the video reduced and you should get it. Let us know how you go.

That's great that you are already familiar with applying this method to making scrunchies. The fun thing about sewing is that there are so many different ways to make the same thing. What's your favorite scrunchie method?

Same here, hence why I clicked on it. Also, not caring if the elastic is twisted is poor. Hope she’s not selling them for money as that is poor quality. If I was a buyer and received that I would not be happy!
