The Earliest Civilisations in Greece | Greek Archaeology Episode I

Ойын-сауық

In this new series, I am exploring the archaeology of ancient Greece. We begin with the Early Bronze Age, focusing on the Minoan Palaces on Crete, especially Knossos, as well as the evidence for maritime trade and Cretan expansion throughout the Prehistoric Mediterranean via the Cyclades. We also touch on Ancient Troy & its wider connections with Anatolia and Mesopotamia.
Here we cover the House of Tiles at Lerna, the chronology of palaces on Crete and the development of trade networks & exchange routes across the Aegean.
Over the coming months I will explore the history & archaeology of Greece chronologically and thematically up to the Hellenistic & Roman Periods, covering major historical events and notions such as Power, Gender, Religion, Economy & Identity.
