    Florin Radu I would still prefer the additional battery in the trunk, Because that way you could drive fast in a long trip, and it won’t rapidgate! However, as it does not seem to have active cooling I guess there are still some limitations.

    Any plans on making an under the car version of the battery expansion pack for the E-NV200? You said in a previous video that there is heaps of empty space and that it would be easy for Nissan to fill it up with 60KW/h battery.

    Congrats! But in my opinion as an eNV-driver such a capacity would make a lot more sense if the charging power is equally lifted as one will have to wait ages when charging this with 50kW (if you get this at all). So for me this makes sense if you charge at home over night and you have a much greater range in the morning - but with 6.6kW maximum charging with one phase again this would take quite long. With only standard plugs you get only max. 3.6kW - a full charge is then done in appr. 20h. With the given range of the 40kWh-version and the density of triple chargers it is quite ok for me to do overland travelling.

    That's the big problem with this unfortunately - those batteries are rare right now. We can get about one per month. So the extender battery will still remain our best option (and also has some additional advantages - if you can spare the trunk space).

    Great work however can I suggest that what most of the 24kw e-nv200 drivers want (including myself) is a 40kw pack installing under the van like the new e-nv200 and then trade off their old battery to bring the cost down to around the £3k mark. If this is a viable process then there are a lot of people waiting to snap them up.

  • @PowerElectronicsBlog

    @PowerElectronicsBlog

    The e-nv200? You'd be looking at approx. €13000 ex VAT for the vehicle itself on the used market and then €12000 ex. VAT for the extender battery. About €25k in total. Not particularly cheap, but much cheaper than the nearest competition. What kind of consumption do you expect (do you have experience with this?) I couldn't get it much past 225Wh/km in windy, bad weather - but that was at 10C outside temperature.

    @@PowerElectronicsBlog I could go around with near 150km range in the winter, in Finland it's different: Stock 24kw cuts around 70- 80km I hear and factory 40kw around 150km but the latter cost same used and more as your modded version total. Base EV prices are ludicrous here, hoping to import something anyway.

  • @PowerElectronicsBlog

    @PowerElectronicsBlog

    For the time being, we'll be continuing to do installs ourselves. We're now slowly starting up talks with partner companies to do installs as well, but that'll take time. The quickest option for the near future will be coming over for a day from the UK - after we've done all the pre-orders. As for the actual battery upgrade options: We'll have the 8.8 and 17.6kWh extenders (€4000 and €6000 respectively) and the 40kWh main battery upgrade (€8250ish). And of course we'll be trying to upsell you on three-phase charging, aeromods, inverters, etc., so don't ever let us get the impression that you have more disposable income! ;)

    Did you include anything to regulate temperature with the new batteries?

  • @PowerElectronicsBlog

    @PowerElectronicsBlog

    4 жыл бұрын

    No - we can't because there isn't anything in the 40kWh battery to help with that. We are relying on our extender battery to take much of the stress off the 40kWh battery so it doesn't heat up as much, and we regulate fast charging speed to avoid having the 40kWh battery overheat.

    Unrelated question to e-nv200. I was thinking in your "battery bank" project. You are making a plug in Leaf extender battery for us to plug in some other staff. Is that power coming only from a extender pack? If so what happens if you run lets say a house of a extender pack and run it down to almost 0 and traction battery is full? I don't think that is something we would like to see when we turn on a car and battery connect together... Also is there any under-voltage protraction? And of course congrats to you

  • @PowerElectronicsBlog

    @PowerElectronicsBlog

    4 жыл бұрын

    The battery bank project will require the car to be in either charging or ready mode, so both batteries are used. There is undervoltage protection, but no automatic reconnection when the voltage equalizes right now, so once the batteries disconnect, we have to troubleshoot that. (obviously thats a feature we are working on, but it has to be super duper safe)
