The Dynamic Kanban Board: How To Manage Work Projects in your Bullet Journal // PLANT BASED BRIDE

I'm excited to be sharing my brand new work project management spread with you today! This is a combination of a leveled up to do list and a dynamic kanban board, and I am really looking forward to starting to use it in my day-to-day.
I asked you on instagram if you'd rather see this spread or a skincare spread first, and you chose the project management spread so here it is! Don't forget to follow me on instagram so you can have a say in the content I create for you all: / elizabethturn
I was inspired to create this spread after reading the following two blog posts:
1. Minimal Plan: minimal-plan.co...
2. Ink By Jen G: www.inkbyjeng....
Go follow Claire and Jen, if you aren't already, because they are amazing!
So what is a Kanban Board anyway?
At the most basic level, Kanban Boards allow you to visualize and map your workflow for projects.
The Kanban technique was first established by Toyota in the 1940s (Kanban is Japanese for "sign" or "billboard") and began with physical cards passed down the stream of manufacturing from one line worker to another. The system is highly customizable and allows teams or individuals full freedom in creating a board that works for them and the types of projects they work on.
All you have to do is figure out which steps are universal to all of your projects and lay those steps out in a notebook or on a whiteboard. The simplest versions I've seen have three categories, Plan / Process / Complete (or To Do / Doing / Done). I decided to add one more category and ended up with To Do / Plan / Progress / Implement, as these are the steps relevant to the types of projects I tackle at work. The fun part is that you can split up your project into however many and whatever types of categories you like!
Once you have your board set up all you need to do is write each project on it's own sticky note and place it on the board at the appropriate step in the process and move them as they progress to the next step. This is a very effective tool for visual learners and can be very helpful is you have multiple projects on the go at a time or work with a team!
Until next time,
xox Elizabeth

Hi!! Came across this video to see if this can be more efficient for my work. Was just wondering, did you really intend to leave spaces in the middle of your colored tabs for something work-related details you would write on? I just wanted to clarify if I missed something. :) Also, is this a 1 month per spread basis or does it just flow til you fill up a page and flip for the next? :) Thanks! Love your videos! (You’ve done this for quite some time, I wanted to know your thoughts on keeping 2 different journals for personal and work? Looking forward to your next video! thanks!)

This is brilliant. I work in aerospace and we have milestones that take months or years to be delivered . I have to follow all the different work streams on massive plans online so just having something this simple on kanban to track other people's progress would be great. I get asked all the time what dependent items are outstanding and with whom they sit and I'm constantly in and out of different notebooks getting the detail, so this could change my life! Thank you!!

I worked in aerospace also, and this method would have status meetings easier to follow, plus managing resources. But now, retired and with a part-time, lower-keyed position, this is overkill for most of the projects I've handled.

Hi Elizabeth, thank you so much for making this wonderful video. It has inspired me to make my own kanban board in my journals for my goals and projects. I've been exploring some ideas and I am considering making the kanban boards on a separate piece of paper so that the task list can run over to the next page if need be. That way, if it runs over and needs to be in other pages, the kanban board can be moved where it is easiest to reference. On top of that, the kanban board itself can be expanded to a few more pages if the process has more stages to completion. Have a wonderful day and God bless you! :)

She only has one color, across the life of the project, but I've seen a project start in yellow (planning), green (drafting), blue (building), etc. I've also seen where each color is a empty box for planned time block and filled in for actual time block. m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/eKqOltGldrTPcqg.html

There are tons of collaborative tools for projects that can make you’re life so much easier! I use mine at work for brain dump of ideas, notes, and action items/to dos that come up.
