Hey man, just want to say merry Christmas and thanks for all the amazing videos. Loved the north Wilkes borough vid, and honestly you and a KZreadr who goes by “EmpLemon” renewed my love for nascar. I’m 18 atm, but I remember back when I was only a few years old and would watch races at Bristol with my dad. Fell out of it though when Jeff Gordon retired and jimmy stopped trying, but seeing the past and especially the 2003 Dealers race reminded me of how fun nascar can be. So whether or not you ever see this, merry Christmas dude, and never forget the amount of impact you have left on the world, because it matters a lot and I’m only 1 person ❤️

This will probably get lost in the comments, but back in the day, they were running another special like this for the XBOX 1, except it was many more points needed but you then get it for free. I was working in a grocery store at the time, and a coworker/friend found that he could see the cap code on certain MTN DEW bottles if he tilted it just right. So he methodically went through all MTN DEW bottles that we had in back-stock, wrote them down by hand, then submitted them online and won a free Xbox 1.

Fun Fact: Caboose and Donut, although known as the names of Red vs Blue characters, were default names in Combat Evolved's multiplayer. While its possible the profile was named after the RVB character; it's equally likely a callback to Halo CE. Noodle was also a default name in CE.

"It must have spent time with the Youth Group, right?" VERY likely. At the church I went to growing up, our Youth group had two Xbox's and TV's hooked up to one another, so that when Youth Group was over (kids waiting on parents) or we had like game nights, you could do system play, and the games available were pretty much only Halo: Combat Evolved, and Ghost Recon 2 (Both solid picks). I have very fond memories of playing Halo with my friends at church. Youth Pastor loved those two games, too, and would play with us sometimes.

Oh my gosh. I recognize all of those profiles! I think this is one of the Xboxes that we used for our Youth Group LAN Parties. I distinctly remember thinking it was so weird that this one Xbox that our children's choir director's son brought to every party was bright green. I'm floored. I may have a profile on that exact Xbox. If HammerThyme is on it, it'll seal the deal.

You know. If it were me, I'd just go to a bottle redemption center, and since most people just ignore points and stuff. You'd probably very quickly be able to gather thousands of points which were otherwise disposed of. Back in the 90s. There was this "under the cap" game, Gatorade i think it was. And under the cap it would say you won a portable CD player or a mountain bike or whatever prizes. My friend at this time was working at the gas station/ convenience store. While he was stocking the fridge he noticed that with certain flavors, such as lemon lime, or the lighter color liquid. You could easily look inside to see if it was a winner or not. I remember hanging out at his place and he had all this stuff piling up that he "won". Well I'd say he won.

My friend got one back when he was in High School, His parents would not allow him to purchase an Xbox, even with his own money. So he spent his time between classes gathering the caps off of Mt. Dew Bottles in all the schools recycling bin (they had them in every classroom) Got enough points and ordered it. He had to hide the xbox from his parents for awhile, and then convince them that he really did NOT spend any money on it, and won it in a contest. Anyways, I doubt he paid more than $100 in Mt Dew for it.

One of my friends had volunteered to clean out a nearby restaurant that had kept one of their rooms blocked off for years. As he was cleaning it out he came across a PS3. He told the owner about it and how they could sell it but the owner instead gave it to him. I was helping him set it up and we found old profiles on it. As we snooped through the accounts we found out it was used by dad and his kid. There were messages sent from the dad like "hey buddy, it's bedtime" and stuff like that. It was very cute.

Back in the day I when this lime green console was announced as a prize for Mt Dew points I wanted one BAD. I actually got a job at a local race track cleaning bleachers after races so that I could collect bottle caps to earn points. I think it took me about a month to rack up the point needed and I was stoked to get my green Xbox. You're absolutely right that they sold out almost instantly but the website where you "bought it" never said as much. in the fine print once the green Xbox stock had depleted you would simply be sent a normal Xbox instead.... so all that work and all I ended up with was another normal Xbox console.

Yeah that made me really sad too; I always found the character rather wholesome and heartwarming, and learning that heyman was fired for being a jerk to his coworkers was depressing. It effectively killed the series. RvB Zero was a major flop, and ever since it’s just been kinda dead. Sad to see in a new wave of halo enthusiasm in the wake of halo infinite. Maybe someone new will fill the gap, I dunno. There’s plenty of good halo machinima makers out there. Maybe following infinite’s back to basics approach would be just what it needs.

  • @GBDupree

@@SladeDoobiedog knowing Current Roosterteeth, it's more likely the OPPOSITE. Where his coworkers were toxic to him because of his beliefs, and claimed he was being mean just for having those beliefs, and not for actually doing anything. I mean the fact that this only happened recently after they hired a bunch of new people, and not the 15 years before that he had worked there, seems to also imply this. Just look at Jack from AH for example, he's VERY political (an opposing political belief to Heyman too) and is pretty fanatical about his beliefs to the point of being rude about it from time to time. But even so he was good friends with Heyman, so much so that he had him come to his wedding (his best man if i remember correctly?). Showing that Joel was more than capable of getting along with others, even those with opposing beliefs. But nowadays, despite RT always being very left leaning, and open about that, the new people are so fanatical and toxic that even Jack can't handle them. He actually stormed off mid-video because a new employee was being so toxic. And these toxic people are the ones to claim Joel was being rude. Seems fishy. I think Joel is just a guy with weird beliefs, but because he isn't going to change his beliefs, people attacked him for it and claimed he was the offender so they could get rid of him because they didn't want someone with different opinions around. It's incredibly common that this sorta thing happens.

I suddenly realized what I had, ran home, and plugged it in. Sure enough, it was my buddies xbox that was stolen over 12 YEARS AGO. It even still had all our gamertags/profiles. Some of my favorite things in my collection have almost no monetary value, but are still dope to me. I have an Xbox game that has stamps from a college library, then it ended up at a military base(still has borrow/return punch card) and then I bought it at a yard sale. Another was a gift from someone's grandma, and they possibly never looked behind the manual, because there was a nice note and a $10 bill. I left the note and the bill, along with another note I wrote. I may grab it on a rainy day, but i like to think someone else might find it one day. One time i went to a yard sale, the lady told me i was welcome to go inside and look around. She said she had just bought the place and it was full of junk. I went in, there was a room that was, no kidding, a 2 ft pile of literal trash covering the whole floor. I saw in the way back a computer. So i decided yolo, and went searching. Under all the beer cans and other crap, I found an ATARI IN THE BOX. No shit. A full-blown boxed atari. And by the end, I found 8-9 BOXED games. I told her about it all. She seemed more concerned with trying to sell me the computer. I ended up getting it all for like $20. I got a gameboy that I bought from an old lady who had bought it for her grandkids when they first released and they never used it. She said she played it some, but it was like in perfect condition. Still had some games in the plastic sleeves.

Yo, I actually liked the 2000's Mtn Dew commercial when I was growing up and staring at the TV at 6:00am (as a night owl!!) watching Saturday morning cartoons. It was fun

6:44 Holy shit, I know this song by heart! I thought I'd repressed my childhood Bible camp bullshit but you've just brought it all back with a fucking Mountain Dew Xbox of all things. Incredible. (Coincidentally my mother donated my old 360 to the local church youth group against my will some time ago...)

OK, but was Blinx the Time Sweeper in the files of this game? You should talk about Naoto Ohshima's cat-boy. He also designed Sonic the Hedgehog.
