FILM DESCRIPTION:
The General Lee is back and so are the Duke boys in this big-screen adaptation of the hit TV series, brought to you by Jay Chandrasekhar of the Broken Lizard comedy troupe. Set in the "present day," the story follows Bo (Seann William Scott) and Luke (Johnny Knoxville) as they cruise around Hazzard County and wreck havoc in their classic 1969 Dodge Charger. Together with their scantily clad cousin Daisy (Jessica Simpson) and moonshining Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson), the two good old boys battle the corrupt county commissioner Boss Hog (Burt Reynolds) when he and local Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane (M.C. Gainey) threaten to take away the family farm. John O'Brien has the lone writer's credit on the film, though additional uncredited rewrites were handled by the Broken Lizard gang.

I don't care if this movie received mostly lackluster reviews, it's one of my favorites!
15 years later, and I dare say that this movie still has some of the best car chase scenes ever made. Every stunt (bar the very last one) was done using practical effects, which means that every drift, jump, and crash has a realistic weight to it that is yet to be mastered by CGI. While the movie is as dumb as they come, it is still my favorite movie for some reason.
@MatchstickMan
2 жыл бұрын
It's a bad Dukes of Hazzard movie, but a pretty okay buddy comedy. The only things that make it Dukes is the car, and the stunts, but on both fronts, they succeeded. The car looks perfect to the last detail, and the stunts are absolutely awesome, but it's not enough to say it's a good Dukes of Hazzard movie because those perfect aspects are so wildly out of place.

Hello Shannon how are you doing and hope you're staying safe over there
I don't know why the critics buried this movie so demeaningly because it's not a terrible film in the least neither is it a Five Star Cinematic Masterpiece but rather, It's as good of a movie for what it was meant to be and what it was meant to be was a Mature Action Comedy. In my honest opinion I believe that it succeeded at being just that.

In terms of comedy reworkings of old TV shows I think Charlie's Angels and Starsky and Hutch did it better.

Because they are critics and tend to be blinded by pseudo intellectualism. I think half the films I love and have watched repeatedly have been universally panned like Dukes of Hazard, Sahara, Deep Rising, Alice in Wonderland, Virus, Volcano, Lone Ranger, Gone in 60 Seconds I love movies I can just chill and veg out to, I think its one of lifes pleasures to watch something you can just switch off and enjoy.

Because the movie is based off of the TV show and is the TV show was a family-friendly movie and this is just a raunchy mild sex comedy. Even my parents and uncle hated this movie.
