He is amazing , amazingly hammy ,amazingly over inflated ego ,amazing he got so much work ,now with the big pay days drying up , he is playing the victim who has tired of fame the tortured artist who had to walk away from the "evil"after being silenced by the Hollywood overlords, his egomania is about as subtle as his early face pulling roles.

That really is something I've been dying to hear certain celebrities say. "I've done enough." I think its very important to realize when you've reached the very peak of what you think you can do in something, and decide to pull back from it and make time for something else you enjoy. I hope Jim lives a long and reasonably happy life, at the very least. He should know that he is adored by millions, and that's something not a lot of people can say. I think he deserves a break.

like many im sure, I adore and respect Jim Carrey as a social commentator and catalyzer and he’s given the world so much laughter and critical thought and so much hard work and emotional labour… i’m happy he’s found something that brings him peace. Thanks for the timeline, I’ll watch every one of these I haven’t seen yet. Love to Jim … from a fellow Canadian Californian who also wishes the world was kinder to each other and needs alone time to recharge from time spent behind the Mask. ❤ (hey makers - thx for creating but hey just wanna mention that repeated use of phrase “the girl” instead of the person’s name, and use of “the girl” in the same sentence as “the man,” is unsettling.)

This man has a truly mean side. I'm in my 70s, and thought I would try a social media, the Twitter one. I'm also a Vietnam veteran. Mr Carrey posted vile bloody paintings of President Trump shortly after his election. I'm neither Republican nor Democrat but I respect the office of President. And I told him that what he did was in bad taste, he is the President and I think it was shortly after Meania had asked for the sake of her son and other children not to show vile bloody paintings of the President. Then he attacked me! And every day for weeks. I don't do Twitter or any of that anymore because of him. It was like an obsession I asked him to stop the mean things, I didn't say anything mean but when I heard the phrase "Trum Derangement Syndrome" I thought it might be real, for an actor to take such a prolonged vicious mean rude attack I was stunned. I just thought he might understand that his actions were upsetting and he should respect our President. I know our society is changing I get that, but we've lost a lot along the way. It does matter. I will admit when I was a new recruit I was told that whenever the Captain of the base's car drove by, you stop, you salute I didn't think that was right what if his teenage kid is driving? I was told this, which over 50+ years later atill holds true *You are never saluting a person, you're saluting the Office that person occupies. When you salute our American flag you're not saluting a piece of material but all that it stands for and all those that died to keep it flying. Respect what it represents* I wish him all the best and hope he may, some day, show some respect, even to an old lady veteran!

I truly enjoyed the first biography & this one. Jim is one of those people who can make me laugh with just the lift of an eyebrow. It's my personal experience that most all comics gain their experience as a way to make up for the hurts & sadness in life by making them funny as a way to deal with it or just as a well played form of escapism. JMO. To say any of us are responsible for what an EX does once we are no longer together is just a cop out (usually by those with their own guilt to deal with) if it leads to death at their own hands, why are people so quick to put the blood on the hands of one who has moved on with their lives? Are their hands clean? I had to work through that situation long ago but luckily it was a well known fact there was nothing I could have done to change the outcome. I truly feel for Jim how deeply it hurt him that it happened & the way her family went after him when they knew she had issues long before the two had met. I hope he finds peace in whatever he decides to do with his future.

Jim, if you ever read this: thank you for ALL of your talent! You've brought me endless laughter, beginning with "Bill Burns". I think it was a wise idea for Mr Carrey to step back for a while. Most creative people require time to reflect on past decisions and possibly new ones. They may also need to regroup and perhaps in some cases, to reinvent themselves so as to stay relevant. His audience/ fans, they too have grown older alongside him and presumably their tastes have changed to reflect the present times. Nothing ever stays the same and without saying the words aloud, we( the public) expect the people/ actors who entertain us to embrace change as well. Case in point, as Rod Stewart grew older he changed his singing style to reflect growth and let the audience know that he was multi dimensional. He was very well received and I believe this new stragedy is what later sustained him in the eyes of the general public. There is no doubt that Mr. Carrey is multi talented, but....having said ....all talent/gifts have to be nurtured, respected, guarded and kept in check from abusers and even oneself. It should be noted that " what ever is given freely to us from the universe, can also be snatched away"....as in the never ending water well runs dry. We may not have seen the last of this actor...I personally would like to see him in something where he leaves his bravado behind. The role could be a cameo but something that pulls at the audience heart strings. He has the ability to be raw and vulnerable. It's not easy to lay one's heart on the table but in a well crafted, small budget film, he could shine once again with vigour and a new found purpose.....as always I wish him well in what ever he does. His life's purpose is not over yet. From one introvert to another✌😎

Real comedy artists, and the best, are able to put down the deepest drama impersonations. That's because comedy is the most serious business in the world! He is extremely intelligent, but that's also his vulnerability. As your brain ages, it can't sustain this pressure and need to be 'intelligent' anymore. Depression is the result, and being so famous, living under a magnifying glass, it can result in madness. I love this guy, he doesn't deserve madness for retirement! Hardly anybody does (apart from fully blown criminals). Jim Carrey is very vulnerable and special. We should cherish this man!

I’ve always loved Jim. His unique comedy and ability to take on crazy roles. I’ve also loved his more serious roles like 23 and the majestic. There are very few movies that Jim has done, that I haven’t loved. He will always be the amazing person and actor that I love. I hope he finds peace and harmony. Love ❤️ you Jim, always. Xxxxx

I just realized we could've just as easily lost Jim Carrey like we did with Robin Williams. I just hope Jim is able to find &, more importantly, MAINTAIN the happiness he truly deserves.

And he can be 100 percent honest with me because I won’t be heartbroken if he doesn’t give me a chance ❤❤❤I will just love to be around him and I will probably just laugh my ass off the whole entire time that I’m with him ❤❤❤

Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman is his most interesting role. I know where Martin Freeman is coming from with his criticism because it must have been unbearable for the cast and film crew to deal with however to watch his performance on and off the screen was fascinating to the viewer. He became Kaufman for the best part of an year and then forgot who Carrey was; he was damaging himself for his craft, what an artist.

Yea it is pretty heartbreaking to know that he went through so many obstacles and negativity and paparazzi terror while I was just a kid thoroughly enjoying his performances. Shows how pointless and fabricated parts of the film industry are. So much hardship to get to where he got, when all that should've mattered was a good performance or a good laugh.

Jim's struggles are a great example of why we need Jesus. We were all created for a reason, there is meaning. We all eventually get to a point when we question why we were born and the only one who can give us the answers is Jesus, the creator of everything. We will never find true meaning in this world. Fame, money, awards, ect. will not fulfill us and I don't get how we see this play out in so many celebrities lives yet it seems like they are either not paying attention or think they are somehow different from the rest of us. They need to, well we all need to pay attention and realize that it's so simple, open a Bible and your heart and you will be transformed. You will find true joy and purpose in Jesus.
