LA WOMAN WAS / IS MY NO 1- DOORS FAVE TUNE it's dark,sexy,all about those times & even our times now. Jim always wrote AHEAD OF HIS TIME HE JUST WASNT AWARE OF IT,GENIUS.

As a poor black kid from northan California growing up in the 80s I always like this song, would hear Vietnam vets playing this including my dad., love the doors. Miss them old school vets.

@Hank McFadden - My late brother was also a Viet Nam vet and I turned him on to The Doors. He had bought a Shelby GT350 before he joined the Army, and I took up the payments when he left. He bought me an 8 track tape player for the car and I used to ROCK The Doors with all the windows down. Great memories of a brother gone too soon and the best music in history......

I'm from Hollywood, California and I can tell you that the woman who personifies L.A is a symbol of something far deeper and sinister...this is the original video, which was shot after the gruesome Tate-La Bianca murders of August 1969...the dancing model was deliberately made to resemble Sharon Tate...in fact, she is like a stylized ghost of the slain actress, to show just how dark and evil L.A can be...THERE'S a reason we locals sometimes half-heartedly call our city HEL L.A.

I've always have loved the doors.I remember in the 60's my mom used to send me to my grandparents in Santa Monica for 3 months summer vacations .This was to get me away from the scene in the East Village. They lived about 6 blocks from the Doors Studio on the beach.

On the beach we listened to 93khj. It kinda went from "I wanna hold your hand" to "Light My Fire" and the hills were full of fire. In the winter of that year there were incredible mudslides. Thunder storms in the L.A. basin.There was also the Zodiac Killer and ol' Chuckie Manson. Riders on the storm.

This was very well done. LA woman is still my top two fav songs. Every sound, every beat so crisp and on point. none of that techno crap they all need today. .

One of their best tunes! Especially love the drum work.

After all these years, LA Woman still reigns atop the heap, baby!

+stephen dwyer I can understand the eventual need for session men in some cases but other than Morrison's self-destruction down the road, the other three always seemed responsible. And, if there is a contract. I need to look further into this.

+stephen dwyer Okay, after a minute of research, it comes down this way...Morrison brought in guitarist Marc Benno and bassist Jerry Scheff (Elvis' bassist) for additional help during the session but Manzarek and Densmore are credited with their standard instruments. I always thought the drum work sounded like John particularly the snare rolls.

+Barry Baker I may add that Jerry Scheff played in Elvis Presley's band for a time.

I grew up in LA listening to the Doors on 95.5 FM KLOS, and lived in Venice Beach in the 70's. This video is very well done & captures the feel of the city at that time pretty well.

Jeannie Barrett, I was reply to your comment and when the song was over it went to a new song by the doors (I do not have it on autoplay and it was not a mix), it was a long and great comment, Just agreeing with you as to how much each of them I love in their own way and if they didn't sync up they could never sound they way they did, just like any really awesome band. However, the Doors are set apart from all other bands and I am not young anymore and I started listening to music when I was 4 years old, the Doors were always and still are very special to me. I wish you could have read my 1st reply, but I am too tired now to try to repeat it all. But you are right, there is no explaining how much I love the Doors. Period! Well said. Fellow lover of the Doors, Dusty the 2nd.

Awesome song! At 6:10 Morrison's digs deep down into his soul. My all time favorite along with Roadhouse Blues.

Jim was passing along a piece of something immortal and his music will be around untill the end of this civilization. My life has transformed through the time, But the Doors are timeless.

Always puts me in a great mood this track.

43 years to the day. It was my 14th birthday and just graduated from 8th grade Sometimes there are things in life that are never forgotten... Graduation and Jim's death a week later.

As many have said great driving song, it’s also a great running song! Many a times, I just hit repeat to keep going , thanks Jim, Ray, John and Robby

Jim was a poet ahead of the times.....he keeps on getting better.

I grew up in southern California, now whenever I visit and leave there, this is the song in my earphones when the plane takes off.
