Yes 2021 and I was just looking at this video and thinking I would rather it was 1975 and I was in that old boat of a car cruising the desert, crushing beers , screaming at the sky with my boy jim, I think I would rather that I mean 2021 is fun and all but yeah I would rather crush beers and rally the dessert in 1975 with jim,, looks like he's getting some frustration out , is everybody in?

His voice was complex, wide range and he didn't spare himself. When I listen to covers of Doors songs, many singers have problems, especially when he screams while singing. Not many can do that “get out” like this. Especially when I listen to the LA Woman album with all of its studio sessions. Morrison's voice was of course rougher than before, but what full volume and control he had despite singing at the limit. Wtf You have to be totally relaxed and at the same time let it all out to get close to it.

Got to meet Morrison's family back in 07 when his dad was in the Navy hospital ward. He was my patient, as a Corpsman. Admitted him, talked with him and his sister. Such a beautiful and fun family. I remember the dad saying that his son is alive and the sister laughed. Guess he was joking lol. People asked him that a lot I suppose.

Still listening in Feb. 2024: A nice video of the 1971 song which I listened to so much as a student in the U.S. both in Pensacola, Florida and in Austin, Texas and it sort of reminds me of my times, sometimes I drove in the U. S. with close friends and obviously I drove for many years Kenya in various cars and I like cars sporty cars and so it's sort of reminds me of my good times. So this 1971 hit rock song is called L. A. Woman and it is by a group called The Doors and the lead singer is Jim Morrison. This is a very very famous music in colleges and universities in the U. S. especially in the fraternity parties and I got invited to some of those so this is obviously one of the most famous college fraternity party songs. I never joined any fraternities for ethical reasons but I did have good friends who either belonged to some or had friends who belonged in some and inevitably I got invited sometimes to some of their parties and those are nice guys, good, decent guys and women, and it was a good time, we had very good times. I got the opportunity to visit Los Angeles in California on two separate occasions while I was a student it was a lot of fun and very memorable. And sometimes even in clubs they play this.
This is LA and the unknown open road combined together in one song. It’s sad there has to be a swan song but if there’s got to be one, there’s no better one to go out on than this. Rest in peace Jim and Ray. Keep trucking John and Robbie. The greatest band to hail from America. Genius.🙏❤️🎼🎵.x

Having grown up in SoCal in the day, whoever made this video did a masterful job of capturing the attitude and feel of that place with the perfect song of the time. A little personal history to go with the Vanishing Point movie (in the days before digital media was even a word). When it came out I was working for the Sheriff's Dept. in the LA jail, in charge of the 150 person trustee dorm at the top of the old Hall of Justice jail. On a lark I told the group of my generally unruly pirates that if they would not give me any problems or attitudes I would try to get Vanishing Point for a Friday night watch on the roof. For a week a 150 person Catholic seminary couldn't have been more courteous and holy. After the movie they were real handful for the next week thinking they were players in it. But somehow they did get Wolfman Jack, on his Friday/ Saturday night street cruising XTRA 50,000 watt radio show they liked to listen to, to dedicate a song to deputy xxxx in the LA jail. Too funny.
Flying Dutchman, thank u for turning an absolute sh*t day into joy through your Playlist. Much appreciated sir!
Just magical and very evocative. Captures a very hip California that no longer exists but remains a strong part of American baby boom folklore. Most of us would time machine back in a heart beat if we could.

I was fortunate to enjoy the Doors at the Fillmore Auditorium SF, late 60s while going to SF State. Living in the dorms, 5th floor, the resident above fired up Light My Fire at 5 in the morning. The organ notes seem to float on the SF fog and I was hooked. I believe I have all their albums.

Firstly, the editing of this video to the music is BRILLIANT. The music of the Doors is as relevant now as ever, with many fans who were not even conceived yet when Jim Morrison departed. As much as everyone would have wished to see him stick around, he did things on his own terms. The only Jim Morrison that exists is the one in this video, forever young and in the prime of his days.
