The Dodge BRAND is Officially OVER -🧟 🪦 RIP 💀 - Sad DEATH of an American Icon

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's pretty clear that the iconic Dodge brand is DEAD. A zombie brand that has pivoted so hard from its customer base that there's no coming back.
We get with Tim from Dad's Cars and Dad's Garage to talk about it.

Serves them right. They had a known problem with the 3.6l v6 Pentastar engine and it's defective rocker arms issue; that one goes way back to 2013 and they did not nothing for the owners of this engine (2014 Dodge Durango w/new spark plugs cost me $2350 w/ all 24 replaced, but no cam damage, including a state inspection plus emissions and oil change). My 1986 2.2 Turbo (Trenton based) was a better engine and only rusted brake lines took it off the road with 150,000+ miles on original engine/turbo. Since then I've experienced the 2006 Honda 3.0 V6 (current car), 2012 Toyota Sienna V6 (awesome motor) and the 2022 3.5 Liter Honda V6 in Pilot. All better.

I have to agree with you guys, and the comments also. Stellantis is killing Dodge off, along with Chrysler. The once mighty Chrysler Corporation has bee reduced to a brand name with just one vehicle. The Caravan was Dodge’s largest selling vehicle, and it was killed with no replacement. Dodge Journey, no replacement. Dodge Stratus, no replacement. The list goes on…ie; Challenger. Being a lifelong Mopar fan, and customer, this is heartbreaking to see. It hurt when Daimler “merged” with Chrysler, and killed the Plymouth Division, or the Plymouth Division was killed so the so called merger would happen. I can’t remember the timeline. Then the forced merger with Fiat to form FCA is another rotten subject. Thanks for the video, and for letting me vent.

Mark my words - any brand that goes "all in" on EV's is 100% doomed to be nothing but a niche brand. EV's are a novelty and are NOT "the future". Most people don't realize electric motors and internal combustion engines (2 and 4 stroke) have actually been around roughly the same amount of time (since the 1800's) and were both consumer-available around the early 1900's. There are pictures of EV sedans from the 1950's on Google. Despite over a century to "mature", EV's have never caught on and have ALWAYS suffered issues with range, charging time and cost. Tesla itself is not a serious car brand, it's a flash in the pan niche (their financials are an exercise in hoop-jumping...unless you really believe they're worth 8x+ the entirety of Stellantis). This emissions/EV stuff is a mental illness.

The issue with the design of the new charger is that there is no design connection to the previous generation. Generally when a car company updates their car, there is something that carries over so you identify it. Like the C7 to C8. Very different designs but they kept some design elements from the C7. Even though the C8 looks like a Ferrari, you can still point out that it is a corvette. Dodge has to cut their V8s because their line up is pretty much charger and challenger. Ford has way more cars to sell to the people than dodge has.

Dodge is trying to sell 4 cylinder CUVs to muscle car people, when the company should have tried to appeal to the market segment that buys CUVs, such as the RAV-4, CR-V and Rogue. Dodge went after the wrong market segment, and overpriced the Hornet. The Hornet should have been several thousand dollars *cheaper than* the RAV and CRV, not several thousand dollars MORE expensive, in order for customers to take a chance on it. Dodge is making a similar mistake with the EV Charger. Muscle car folks want nothing to do with EVs, yet the EV Charger ads are trying to win over muscle heads. Dodge, for the 2nd straight time, marketed a vehicle to the wrong customer segment. Although prices for the Charger EV haven't been announced yet, I have no doubt it will be much more expensive than a base model Tesla.

I think that Dodge is dead (give it 2 more years), no matter what, but the Charger with AWD and the Hurricane Twin Turbo 6 will certainly be faster than any Scat Pack before it and will run a quarter mile on the street (unprepped surface) faster than a Hellcat. The AWD with the 550 HP Hurricane will be a very good and fast street car, and just wait till the tuners get to this engine and you will see 1000HP twin turbo AWD Hurricane Chargers in less than 6-8 months after release. I think that the Charger AWD will be an eye opener after the tuners get it. If Dodge had pushed the Hurricane 6 and kind of downplayed the EV's they would be in a much better position. Car and Driver got 0-60 in 4.7 seconds in a 6400 + pound Grand Wagoneer with the Hurricane 6 HO, now take over 2,000 pounds out of it and you can see that the Hurricane 6 Charger will be very capable performer. The looks of the Charger will eventually grow on people, it is not a horrible looking car. Maybe with a new more aggressive front end and a wide body kit, nicer wheels, a cool stripe package, some spoilers and people will change their mind about how it looks.

Between the Dodge Charger, Challenger and the Chrysler 300, they've lost over 4 billion dollars a year in sales. Yes, that's with a "B." I don't see how you survive the first year which is this year. And since the Mercedes E class cars are gone, I'm no longer interested. Forget about the damned Mexican Hemi. I'll keep my 2018 supercharged Pentastar AWD Charger forever. You gotta just love the speaker on the back of the EV for exhaust sound. I find that to be hysterical. So at least they're going out with a laugh. And, I predict they're going to get 100,000 dollars for it. Up from the 28,000 original base price. That will be the laugh heard around the world. I have four Chrysler products: A 2002 Chrysler Prowler, a 2011 Jeep Liberty, a 2018 Dodge Charger, and a 2019 Jeep Renegade, and it ENDS THERE.

As far as the new body style looking “rental car”, what the hell do you think the 15-23 Charger looked like? They were also tired, generic looking cars. The Charger was a joke ever since they brought it back for 06’. We all said back then that it was suicide to introduce a 4-door Charger; a “real” Charger has 2-doors.. Blah blah blah. People will buy whatever new products Dodge sells- they’re trying to get back to making “mass” market vehicles again instead of these niche muscle-cars that have seen the brand atrophy down to a small shadow of what it once was.

To be honest, I think that was their intention all along. Stellantis along with other European-based corporations loathe the way American brands engineered their automobiles right down to the steering wheels being on the left-hand side. Dodge was one of the few car companies that was a representative of American expression in a automotive form. Since it was difficult for Stellantis to convert Dodge into a way that it can be assimilated to strike an interest to the majority European-based audience, they would rather take as much money as they can generate from the heritage of the name until it is all used up and ultimately throw it away , which is becoming apparent just based on how we are talking about Dodge right now. 😕

@@GuysTalkingCars I agree he is not a pansy. He could have easily afford to buy Dodge and make it great again: because the E.V Tesla Division would be selling so many E.V’s that it would offset their carbon credits. Which they would need to continue to sell V8’s in their other division the Dodge Company. Thanks to the E.P.A and the Federal Government getting involved with car manufacturers. We need to start a movement. Otherwise Dodge will go down in flames soon and it will become another Pontiac with its legendary Trans-Am … which is just a glorious good memory of the past now. Same with the Camaro. It’s is slowly but surely turning into an E.V company, thanks to Dem. Mary Barra the C.E.O.

The funny thing is, dodge dieing may kill Tesla too! They literally kept them alive all these years by buying cafe credits. Now they aren't allowed to buy them anymore which means even more losses for Tesla.

Well . . . Plus some iconic cars but it only takes one thing to build a brand . . . And clearly you can destroy that fast.
