CARMAX DISASTER Signals COLLAPSE Of The Car Market!
In this video we talk about CARMAX. I take you to CarMax's lot and show you just how full it is and how expensive their cars are. It's clear that CarMax is in trouble and their prices aren't sustainable! I also talk about what this mean for the car market as a whole.
My name is Brandon and I am a used car dealer. I created Car Questions Answered to share the ins and outs of the used car market from my perspective. I share with you updates on car prices, what's happening at the dealer auctions, and what it's like being a dealer. My goal is to share information to help you make the best decisions while buying a car to save you money. I do not want car dealers taking advantage of you.
Thanks for watching and please feel free to leave any comments you may have in the section below!

I agree. The only way price comes down is with price rejection. I don't like paying 18 dollars for a Big Mac so I don't buy them anymore. They get them back down to the 5 dollar range ... I might start buying them again. This holds true for houses, cars, etc. This isi the exact reason we buy when people are selling and selling wizen people are buying. Rich folks have figure this out a long time ago. I ask people all the time.. you compalin about buying things but you are part of the problem. Stop buying that over price ... whatever. Enough of us do this... price will come down. We are starting to see that in the car and housing markets. But it has just started. It will accelerate and might last for years. Deflation is one of the dirtiest words in capitalistic debt based system. If you are rich you DO NOT want deflation... you want inflation. If you are poor or middle class you absolutly want deflation. The end of the GFC was the prime time to buy residential houses. Not right before it ... when it was apparent we were in a bubble. Just like we are in now.

I'm finding the same price on new 3/4 ton trucks today as I did last year. Where are the desparate dealers with all the floor plans they cant pay for. Not seeing these desparate dealer pricing in Texas.

Sky high inflation, new car loan rates starting at 7% for prime and go to 14% for sub prime, used car loans start at 10% for prime and quickly move to 22% for sub prime (poor credit). Like most car companies, finance is where Carmax makes their money - not so much on the margins of car sales. Very few people who own a car that's working, why would you buy now? Its the most expensive time to purchase in nearly 20 years.
The last new car I purchased cost $10,000. The prices of those used cars are pathetically high.

I live right across the street from a carmax here in Dallas. They aren’t selling squat. I literally see the same cars in the same spots for months.
this makes no sense.. who can afford a 40k used car? I am lost for words!
My local Toyota is charging way more than 3 years ago, but dealer incentives are only $300-700. That's not a discount.
It's a liberal policy car market. How are you liking those gas and food prices?
Went to CarMax once. They tried to sell me a car for way to much. I had kept an eye on it it had been on the floor for months. Told um if they sold it to me for KBB fair price Id sign. They told me that someone would by it at their price. It sat on their lot for another year. Manual car Green, girlfriend wanted it. Never went back, ever.
I have already noticed used car prices dropping. I need a new car.
I purchased my ram new in 2009 and still driving it today 15yrs old, 220,000 miles and still going strong 💪 You can see, I'm holding on,not trading every 3 to 5 yrs just because the miles are getting high

Cars are making less and less sense every day. The costs of new and even used vehicles are starting to outstrip the benefits. Insurance, thefts, gas, and skyrocketing maintenance are just out of control.
Another great show! 👏👏👏👏
this has been happening in canada since the chip shortage, it's still happening now, used cars are more than new, even when there's new in stock
The prices aren't falling at the dealers very much yet because they know they will be making deeper and deeper cuts and it will snowball out of control. The dealers both new and used will soon be dumping their stock. They just don't want to tip off the fee remaining buyers that they are buying before a crash.
Great content, Brandon
Can you touch on work vehicles like splinter vans. And cargo vans. Work vehicles in general
Watching some car reviews of the new this and the new that . We are talking $60K ++++ for a new ToyoRunner. or close to $50K for a Honda Pilot. Insane. Easily a $800 monthly payment for most for what you used to be half that. Who is buying these things? This is why I always buy a 2 to 3 year vehicle where the first owner took the 30 to 40% hit.
Last time I drove past Carmax lot it was offerflowing but yesterday drove by my carmax un Tyler Texas, was almost empty (humm)

Check the parking lots by the airports and ports. You can see cars across the horizon. They would rather ship these to Africa and sell them for freight cost than sell them in the US and rob themselves of a high dollar rip off. They'll even scrap these brand new vehicles before discounting them. Watch the 2023 model years go missing.

We finally made it to a point that we were house hunting and trying to decide our first brand new nice car that we wanted… no longer looking for a house and bought a cute little used car from a friend. No payments. Still heartbreaking losing all those dreams that were about to be realized. But I’ll take my used, paid off car over astronomical car payments.
Thanks Brandon 👍 can I get one of those toasters with the purchase of a car? That Ford raptor is a gorgeous machine
Yeah, I'll keep driving my '19 Rav4 Adventure with 31k miles for another 10 years...
Im keeping my 18 is350. Till it dies. Currently 110k on it and still running strong AF.
8:55 Having that GT350, on a carmax lot, is a crazy sight.
Totaled my full sized truck hitting a family of deer. 10 years ago I found out I couldn't afford a new truck payment not even a used truck payment. So I had to go with a small mini truck, not Ideal for the hauling I need it for. Luckily my Dad could still afford the prices and gave me a stellar deal on his full sized truck. I traded that small truck for an economy car been rocking that on my commutes to save money. I'd hate to see what trucks cost nowadays.
Maybe CarMax see the writing on the wall folks aren't buy EV's when they find out the batteries aren't under warranty anymore and insurance companies are up charging the policy holders because the possibilities of them catching on fire in the garage while charging them up.
Why do you think the cfo and ceo dumped a lot of there stock a year and half ago. They new this was coming.
I work at a carmax as a truck driver and I used to do FQC (washing cars and stickering them, putting them out front) and if I remember correctly the lack of a price is because they haven’t decided what to put the price at yet or there may be an issue with the title. I’ve printed off a few of those no price stickers for several vehicles, even as cheap as little hondas or chevys
I was listening to Danielle di martino booth. She said Americans are settling their cars on fire to get out of the payments.
if i had a 73,000 vehicle, id have to live in it lol
3:24 2 months ago, a buddy of mine bought a 2012 Raptor SVT from a private seller. Yes SVT. 6.2L of fury. Besides some scratches on the drivers door it is immaculate. it has *41,000* miles on it. he paid *$22,000*, cash. … there is hope.
I’m not seeing anything like this in western Colorado. You can’t hardly find a scat pack around here and definitely not for anything like you’ve shown over the past month. 😊
I saw a Carvana truck with a I'm pretty sure was a repo Charger. It had the signs.....
They aren't listening to their customers. Everyone doesn't want a completely loaded vehicle with a bunch of stuff they don't need. I want windows that roll down, standard transmission in a stripped down vehicle.
I bought a 2018 civic in Jan 2019 for 22k. It’s got a manual transmission. I’ll drive it til the wheels fall off. Anyone who buys a car now is either desperate or clueless. I doubt we will ever get back to pre covid/Biden prices.

@@MattPSU02 If you have to finance a car on more than 3% interest it is nothing you should ever be doing, why would anyone need a brand new vehicle in the first place? If you have to finace it, that means you cant afford it and are not in a place where you should consider a new vehicle.
Good info. Just because CARMAX paid too much for their POS cars, doesn't mean I have to non-negotiate.
Car sales had been steady, when each new model year price was increased by 2.5 - 3%. Then dealers started adding market adjustments and people were still buying cars. The manufacturers wanted a piece of the action, so they built up new car pricing by 11% each year.
How many signals of the car market collapse can there be before it actually happens... 🤔😂
