I love those sad eyes the dr does when he realised he’s done something wrong and wants to apologise and can’t and wants to even the 12 th dr could do it I think through out it’s history of the show you got to love the dr the charioteer is such a big softy and so sweet I wish all rl drs and nurses were like him, I still don’t understand why they say that the dr will stand in the Ruins of gallofrey and rules it about the progeny of the hybrid I mean he’s never hurt anyone of anything he’d make a good ruler and we know he is a hybrid but I think the protect is wrong the dr is a good man. If he was tHe one tectay who started the time lords and regeneration goof on him through genetic experiments good on him giving birth to life going to a isolated planet and giving the planet life not takeing free will away from people I’d do the same prolonging life saving lives helping out shouldn’t be illegal as long as you don’t take anything against the persons free will or try not to be god should be fine marking life better for everyone is fine it should be fine the others way against their will trying to be god is bad and they say that he blow up gallifrey and than ok that was bad but he saved his race and the universe from suffering and death he couldn’t bear see his people suffer he didn’t want his people to suffer I mean he is half human after all to save lives lives must be sacrificed to save millions so he put them out there misery and saved them I would have done the same thing.

Extremely successful is probably an overstatement, but she was a stage/panto actress with no shortage of roles, was in some of the more recent dance shows, is now in Eastenders and has also done some more Big Finish with the 7th (and probably other) Doctors. Not too bad if you ask me.

Watching the Doctor's embarrassment at having been fooled by the Rani while he was still confused after his violent regeneration, it makes sense that he went on to become the 'mastermind' type, always preparing ahead. In a way one could say he wanted to always have the upper hand from there on out to avoid something like that from happening again.

Do you know, I've NEVER thought of it that way before. But that actually fits really well. For me, while I love later, darker Seven, I was never that keen on how he started, or how much of a difference there was to his later stories. Nice one on coming up with a plausible reason why Seven changed so much after 'Time & the Rani".

Does Doctor Who #7 lie or doesn't he?!

  • @RopeDrink

    @RopeDrink

    7 жыл бұрын

7 doesn't lie, he just keeps EVERYTHING to himself. He barely even keeps his companion(s) in the loop - everyone, friend and foe, is a pawn in his game. This would be worse than lying if only for the fact that he does care deeply for his pawns, going on to be a father figure for his next companion and (against her better wishes) trying to help her overcome her fears and build her up, but doing so by dunking her into situations she fears and hates (without warning). Here he's confused due to the sudden regeneration and hasn't a clue what's going on -- later, he made it his business to ensure NOBODY BUT HIMSELF knew what was going on until he could say "Checkmate". The only notable exception to the 'lie' is his speech in Curse of Fenric where he has to go against Ace and almost literally break her heart and spirit, but this was a necessity.

Bonnie Langford's indelible acting style has always revolved around exuberant stage performance since first gaining attention as a young child and is, of course, not in the least out of place when it comes to any high-profile theatrical presentation. Throughout the sixties and through much of the seventies one can freely observe that television performance by artists who had essentially originated in the world of the theatre was still quite acceptable in terms of the means of conveying their allotted characters to an audience via the TV screen. Sylvestre McCoy is another highly experienced comedy actor in that same rich tradition with a long list of stage credits to his name including many a leading role he was given by the prolific playwright and theatre director Ken Hill at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, including "Dracula" (as the Count himself), "Bloody Mary" (as a bold pirate), and "The Mask of Zorro". Needless to say, one invariably emerged from the theatre feeling thoroughly exhilarated after such outstanding productions as these.

I'm watching both. People will come back to series 11 and 12 and appreciate them eventually, correcting for the things they didn't like just as we correct for the special effects, production, acting and direction when we watch the older series.

Mel would‘ve been surprised if she had seen the Doctor regenerate with her own eyes, but she didn‘t due to being unconscious in the TARDIS when an explosion knocked them out just before the Rani hijacked the Doctor‘s ship.

While Mel and the seventh Doctor IMHO weren't as strong as Seventh and Ace, this is quite a cute scene. I love how Mel flips the Doctor and the two fight. Given the Doctor has only had one person see him regenerate in recent times (Rose with the 9-10), this charm of how the companion reacts to seeing a new Doctor is missing. Plus - it seems they're more accepting of the Doctor now than in the past - save Amy and the current one.

The Valeyard was an aspect of the Doctor between his twelfth and final incarnations, and the Time Lords used him to try and condemn the Doctor to death, as he had knowledge of the Time Lords destroying almost whole life on Earth.

@Busterseyes I have to admit your reasonings are part of the reason I love the current run of the show with Matt Smith as the Doctor - I am glad they toned down the special effects this season. I don't mind some effects and the planets do look better with some CGI; however, I have felt a lot of times the first four seasons that there was TOO much of it.

Mel was the best companion ever. It was this story that made me a Doctor Who fan. Has the best cliffhanger ever at the end of Part One, when Mel is trapped in a bubble.

@kyon813 He went from grumpy& irascible to hobo, from hobo to serious action-hero, from dandy to unkempt bohemian, from eccentric to dashing hero, from sensitive and pensative to determined and huge ego, from flamboyant to subtle, from cunning and icy to hopeless romantic, from gentle and naive to pragmatic, not-good-with-people and manic, from serious and moody to bubbly and pacifistic, and lastly, from constantly depressed to slighly harsh, open about his feelings and completely bonkers.

@ericinwisconsin I agree it's out there, but there *is* a possibility that in the time that we don't see Mel and the Doctor together (the gap between Mindwarp and Terror of the Vervoids) there was a case where the Doctor nearly regenerated or was ill and warned her it could happen but didn't. It doesn't help a whole lot that Mel is one of the few companions - Susan the other I know of - who we meet already traveling with the Doctor.

In Last of the Timelords The Master appeared to know about Rose absorbing the time vortex....even though they never actually met.. Also, in Logopolis the 4th doctor said that sometimes Timelords have the same mind. With the Rania being a Timelord (or Timelady) she would somehow know some of Mel's character.

@Busterseyes Tell me about it! I'm STILL waiting for DOCTOR WHO to come back to TV because the "New" series(2004/Eccleston to Tennant) is more like a spin-off. The old series, for me, had more character (litterally!) because they had to be clever to make it work. The things they didn't have were time and money, so they used what they had in abundance... Talent and imagination! And the 7th Doctor and Ace were a GREAT team! Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred became my faves too!

When does it appear? Or is it simply mentioned and isn't really seen? [Eg. Dream Lord was his darker side, if you will, and he was 'sort-of' physical. Sort of.]
