In one of those, where he is pictured calmly walking away from a fire, in fact the fire almost burned him and he said he truly felt the heat from the explosives, but kept a cool face so as to not spoil the take.

3:20 I really love this moment, after being tricked the for the whole story, 7 finally finds comfort in being reunited with Mel. And he's finally able to feel shame for dying and being someone Mel no longer recognizes.

I like to think this is why the 7th Doctor took the darker “Time’s Champion” turn in his later adventures. Feeling humiliated by being tricked by a C-list villain like the Rani in his first ever adventure, made him wanting to prove to himself and others that his 7th Persona would mean Business and was no ones play thing. So he Played the fool for the longest to lure them in a false sense of Safety only to pull the rug under their feet and show them who the real fools are! That’s what I love about the 7th Doctor, he has a True Character Arc!

I agree, and that's what is interesting about this incarnation. he may not be my all time favorite, but I still like how he was developed. and not only that he's a pretty interesting on the Doctor. and I like him for it. plus he's really entertaining. I think one of the classic who episodes I wanna take a look at is. the Happiness Patrol. from what I heard, it shows just how much of a Cosmic Chessplayer the 7th Doctor is. that and the theme of the episode being a twisted happiness dystopia is really interesting for me.

I was nearly 8 years old when this aired and the Tetraps, disguised Rani, bubble traps, wasp-disco ball and giant brain all terrified and captivated me. I think I was the perfect age to enjoy this on transmission. I absolutely loved it. And the stories that followed.

All the 7th Doctor episodes are great.

Ncuti Gatwa wants Gillian Anderson to play a villain in his run. I think she would make a great Rani. Bringing back the Rani is a good way to have a time lord villain while giving the Master a break, and Gillian seems perfect for that role.

I love how Mel can throw the Doctor to the ground but doesn’t use it anywhere else. Edit: Just that alone demonstrates how much she was wasted. Just imagine in Paradise Towers she gets in a small fight with Tilda and the crab.

The Doctor was still unused to his new body and even after he got used to it he had serious co-ordination and strength issues. Different bodies have different abilities. McCoys were all in his psionics and being the most devious and clever bastard in the room.

As a kid in the 80s, I watched Seven Krypton his arch nemesis's homeworld and thought to myself THAT'S MY Doctor!!

It's well known what pressure they were under with this production, but it still manages to be a rather touching scene between them - the very definition of underrated, due to so many Fans being precisely the wrong age by 1987 to give this anything like a fair viewing. And now, all this time later, it's as ancient and classic as the black and white stuff was when this aired... older than much of it 💜

I had a lot of fun with Time and The Rani last week! Saw it for the first time since it was on PBS in the early 90's!

The music is _so_ late 80s. Those orchestral hits!

Time and the Rani was fun. First two episodes were great.

Regenerations will do that to you, especially after the previous Doctor didn't show up for his own.

Hot take for some people. I prefer The Seventh Doctor's more light hearted nature to his Darker and more manipulative nature that we see later in his tenure.

We're meant to presume the Doctor told her offscreen I think, but it does feel a bit convenient. It makes convincing her he's the Doctor a bit quicker though, which is probably why the line's there.

I didn't watch Colin's run, but wasn't Mel there at the trial with the Valeyard, Master, and all the other Time Lord's harping on about 'born between X and Y regeneration'? Mel would have a better idea about it than any other blind companion, and you can assume 6th probably talked about it before this.

It must've been awkward for Kate O Mara to film this story.

@@FreeTheDonbas They both have no number. They are the Fugitive and War Doctors, respectively. If that were the case, then they would indeed be immortal, but the latter part is not true, so the overall conclusion fails on that basis.

The 13th incarnation was Matt Smith, as was made extremely clear in _The Time of the Doctor_ (2013), to the extent of it being a major plot point of that very episode, resolved only by the Time Lords gifting him a new regeneration cycle (categorically not a “lame excuse). (In the alternative timeline seen in _The Name of the Doctor_ (2013), he categorically *did* die at that point, triggering *literally the entire plot* of that episode.) Did you seriously think there would ever be a genuinely-final Doctor‽ Pointlessly limiting for the production teams and the BBC, surely? Indeed they could give them (not him, the character is canonically gender-neutral now) another regeneration cycle after their 26th/39th/etc. incarnation, but that still won’t make them immortal. All it would take would be one forgetting to do so and they would finally die forever. Again, every single thing you have said is objectively untrue. Do better.

@@FreeTheDonbas I know the 13th incarnation was Matt Smith. This is stated in the show itself multiple times. The Thirteenth Doctor is Jodie Whittaker, but that difference is because John Hurt is the ninth incarnation, and David Tennant is both the 11th and 12th. John Hurt’s incarnation explicitly rejected the title of “Doctor”, so is not counted, and David Tennant’s second incarnation is not counted as a separate Doctor from the first. All these things are basic facts as explicitly confirmed within the show itself. Obvious troll is indeed obvious. It’s you. You are the troll.

Michael Grade, then-controller of the BBC, was actively trying to kill the show. So whatever budget they needed, he ensured they didn't get.
