The dizzying dishonesty of Keir Starmer

If the polls are to be believed, Keir Starmer is about to become the next UK prime minister. And yet, no one seems to know what the Labour leader actually stands for. He poses as a man of honesty and integrity. But his short political career suggests otherwise. From Brexit to gender to the economy, he has happily promised one thing and then done another. He has swung wildly between seemingly contradictory positions, betraying democracy, women’s rights and his own alleged principles in the process. Here, Tom Slater argues that Starmer is easily one of the slipperiest, most untrustworthy politicians of his generation - a man who either doesn’t believe in anything, or is willing to say almost anything in order to get into power. Britain may be about to find out that a man who believes in nothing can be a very dangerous thing. Watch, share and let us know what you think in the comments.

If you think it is bad now, wait when Labour get in the next election. Most of our problems starting in 1997. It is very difficult to role back lots the laws, etc from then. The civil service don’t help, just look at Sue Gray. Look Angela Rayner, David Lammy, Emily Thornberry, Diane Abbott, Shabana Mahmood, Liz Kendall, Ed Miliband, etc. None of them have any experience of life. The Peter principle applies. If they have large majority, it will be chaos.

Not at all. The situation in 2024 is very different from 2019. Labour failed to win in 2019 and Keir has had to adapt to make Labour appealing again to the big wigs. Labour hasn't really changed internally but has had to change externally, otherwise the Tories would likely win this election too.

When Starmer became the leader of the Labour party in April 2020 I wrote of my thought in the Facebook Labour group. I wrote that; my gut feeling was that he was untrustworthy, lacking in morality and would say anything to gain power. My intellect told me that he was clever but would use that cleverness for his own advancement and therefore I believe the Labour party has made a huge mistake in choosing him. The reaction to that comment was interesting. Many said; "Give him a chance" but most laughed and ridiculed me causing me to leave the group. I still stand by my assessment. There is no integrity in politics anymore and anyone who still believes there is, is living in fantasy land. I don't care where a truth comes from or who happens to say it, I only care that I recognise a truth when I hear it - on that note; "At one time politics was about trying to 'doing something,' today however, it's about trying to 'be someone' Margret Thatcher.

Why vote? "To repeat the same actions and expect different outcomes is the definition of insanity" No, we the people start building a parallel system. Bitcoin was one example of how the old paradigms can be affected by people opting for a different model. No vote requiref, just people seeing that the financial system was broken and then choosing something else. Those who flounder in the old medieval models will be the ones that fall to the wayside as it dies. Those who see the ways through the collapse of the antiquainted ways will be the ones building the new. Change is here, embrace it or perish. Voting in the current era is like using a water pistol to put out a blazing inferno. Wake up to the reality of the times.

Dishonesty is interwoven throughout British Politics and these days is a key element of its every day functionality. The lack of accountability affords it total licence. The General Election will be the same as most party Manifesto's won't be worth the paper they're printed on. Power can effectively be gained on a string of false promises. Our media is largely complicit as it affords such dishonesty a platform.

Sometimes you need what you don't want. I think Keir Starmer will make an excellent Prime Minister. Unfortunately, he has had to do what he's has to do to make Labour electable, not because he likes what he's doing. Media is largely Tory-dominated media which will jump on anything to discredit Labour. Keir has been forced to suppress some of what he believes in but hasn't outright denied it. Labour, despite their good intentions, failed in 2019 to win any seat. He's had to change tactics for a chance of winning.
