JK Rowling: a witch who refuses to burn

If you’d have said 10 years ago that JK Rowling would soon become a hate figure among the cultural elites, people would have thought you were mad. Her Harry Potter series is beloved the world over. She is immaculately liberal-left. Why would she ever be demonised by the great and good? Well, because she believes in biological sex and single-sex spaces - views held by the vast majority of the population, but deemed ‘transphobic’ by gender ideologues. Here, Lauren Smith explains how intolerant transgender activists pulled off the most vicious character assassination of the woke era - and commends Rowling for refusing to betray her principles. Watch, share and let us know what you think.

Yeah, I work in a school. Call for a show of hands in a classroom of how many kids have read and seen Harry Potter, you're going to get almost everyone reacting. Ask who thinks that she's transphobic or evil or whatever else, the kids haven't heard of it or they have and don't care. JK's reputation has only been "sunk" in terminally online spaces; it's important not to assume what gets said on social media actually permeates the real world.

Most people are saying to trans people, live your life as you want, call yourself what you want, it’s your life!! BUT It’s disrespectful to claim you’re a real woman. If you’re a trans woman.. stop taking over women’s safe spaces. It’s simple. Just accept you’re a trans woman. A lot of the trans in Thailand don’t say they’re women(one of the highest % of trans population on earth). They know what they are (in between) and they live peacefully. Accept yourself.

since when did she stood for anyone except herself? I mean she has tried to ride all popular waves. In the 2000's the rags to riches thing was popular, so JK Rowling heavily exaggerated her past to make it look like more of an achievement then it actually was. Sure she's successful, but she wasn't as poor and poverty stricken as she led people to believe and the struggle to get her book published is just modus operandi that every author needs to go through, not just Rowling. She then tried to ride the woke wave, retroactively changing characters race and sexuality.... aaaaand then it backfired because the marxist woke ideologue zealots don't let you step out of line by an inch with their moronic fantasy narrative.

I think the reason why they hate her in particular so much is precisely because of how spectacularly they failed to do so. Cancel culture's power lies in going after the little people, the office worker that tweeted something vaguely "problematic" 10 years ago or the small-time standup comedian desperately trying to get on the circuit. In other words, people whose livelihoods depend on them bending the knee and backing down. But they bit off a tiny bit more than they could chew with Rowling. Going after someone's livelihood doesn't really work when they have more money than they could ever spend in 8 lifetimes and are 100% committed to their cause. I mean, it must be frustrating for them lol- they burn her books, she laughs about the royalties. They try to boycott a game based on her books, she shows them the 1 billion she already has in the bank and then the game does well anyway. They try to make her views illegal in Scotland where she lives, she makes a mockery of the whole thing by scaring off prosecutors due to being backed by the best legal team money can buy, and even offers to pay for the defence of anyone else affected by the law... it's like going up against a video game boss that is literally unbeatable😂 If they weren't such vile little hypocrites, you could almost feel sorry for them, they tried SO hard... On a related note, that's when I hate it when people like Jimmy Carr or Quentin Tarantino say things like "cancel culture isn't a big deal, just ignore it and say what you like anyway". Like yeah, it's obviously not a big deal for someone like you, short of some horrific MeToo scandal emerging about you you're essentially uncancellable. It's quite a bit different for everyone else who doesn't hold influential positions in the media or own millions of pounds...

J.K. Rowling’s “offensive” Tweets: “Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?” J.K. Rowling “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.” J.K. Rowling “The idea that women like me, who’ve been empathetic to trans people for decades, feeling kinship because they’re vulnerable in the same way as women - ie, to male violence - ‘hate’ trans people because they think sex is real and has lived consequences - is a nonsense.” J.K. Rowling “I respect every trans person’s right to live any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them. I’d march with you if you were discriminated against on the basis of being trans. At the same time, my life has been shaped by being female. I do not believe it’s hateful to say so.” J.K. Rowling “Trans people need and deserve protection. Like women, they’re most likely to be killed by sexual partners. Trans women who work in the sex industry, particularly trans women of colour, are at particular risk. Like every other domestic abuse and sexual assault survivor I know, I feel nothing but empathy and solidarity with trans women who’ve been abused by men.” J.K. Rowling

In this regard i would consider me a liberal. But i don't hate her for she states nothing, that even comes near to hate speech. Sex does exist. The word sex refers to your biological gender. Why should someone be hated, for not being ok with this forced change of word meanings. Being liberal does not mean to accept everything.

I thank Ms. Rowling for the incredible experience of HP in my childhood and I thank her once again for standing for my rights and fighting against my erasure as a woman in my adulthood. She did not disappoint. She is a brave woman to stand her ground. I'm proud to live at the same time as her. If I can call someone a role model,. it's her.

With Max/HBO already in production making all the HP books into a new 10 year long tv series - with JKR as a producer and an all new cast - there will be a new young generation of fans that will push back on the stupidity of this TERF war.

It's not just the extremely online trans activists. You can be instantly excommunicated from "polite" gay circles for expressing even slight sympathy for Rowling. Her sins cannot even be discussed, to even ask the question "What did she say that is so bad?" is treated as violence.

@@mikalina1 Not all trans people are like the activists who have condemned JKR. In fact, from what I have seen on various KZread trans people's channels, they hate what is happening now as much as non-trans people do. Prominent trans KZreadrs like Buck Angel, Marcus Dib ('The Offensive Tranny'), Blair White and others are putting up a LOT of content to try and counteract the toxicity and insanity. And yes, they are hated and villified by the activists 😒
