I have been combating, depression and anxiety for most of my life. Just in the last while, I decided to immerse myself in helping others. I have volunteered to end of life, hospice, ward missionary, and teaching other classes. This is help me more than any medicine I have ever taken. I know my depression and anxiety won’t go away altogether, but you soon realize you are not the only one suffering. We’re all in it together. God bless.

Such beautiful advice!!! Rescue dogs are awesome too. True hope micronutrients have been such a blessing in my life. They help with severe depression and other things, in a healthy way. 866 true hop(e) Work with their professional support at that number if you're on any meds

That’s awesome, brother! If you don’t have any heart issues, I highly recommend trying cold plunging. I tried it for the first time a month ago and it lit up parts of my brain that I have never felt, having struggled with depression and anxiety, my whole life. I tried many different therapies and medications. If you’re not already, it will also help put you on the road to healthier eating, exercise, and sleep. I know it sounds like a fad, but it could be life-changing for you too and help you in your service and continued discipleship, being able to more clearly discern him through the whisperings of the Holy Ghost. Cold plunging and new friends have been the miracles I’ve been praying to receive for a long time.

Elder Holland has a way of saying things that is so clear and concise. Everyone should hear this message.

Elder Holland is and has always been my favorite speaker and I love listening to His words of wisdom. I often listen to other LDS speakers like Tad. R. Callister, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, and David A. Bednar. I am not an LDS.

Just yesterday I was thinking how wounded we all are and that compassion and mercy are so needed - I was 72 before I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder - I am on medication now, which gives me a better chance of following Jesus and loving my neighbor as He loves us - Thank you, Elder Holland, for your life-giving message of hope and love

Being kind has Always been extra easy for me. I was raised by 2 of the greatest examples of parents,& brothers and sisters. But marrying a Narcissist was a huge mistake. They have Zero spirit of kindness.i am now any empty vessel. Drained beyond my ability. How can I now move on.Never took time for balance,& self love. No medication can help without side effects. Age adds to different challenges. The struggle is real and unrelentingly painful. My divine potter is All I have. Greatful for all learning but weary.looking forward to be Free at last. ❤

You can do it!!! Doctrine and Covenants 68:6 - Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come.

One great concern I have is giving ourselves over to the medical professionals. Some are fairly good. Many are not. Certified? I seek my help in Naturopathic medicine and it has been my path. I will never believe that I need a doctor’s note to care for myself. We all need various forms of help, understanding and guidance. He is so right on so much of what he says. However, I hope we never put our trust those who say things like “Safe & Effective” when they are not true.

Along with much prayer, I decided to also talk to someone. Welbutrin literally saved my life. God gave us many resources. We need to use them. Glad you found something that worked for you.

I wish that those leaders of our church could understand that broken people don't have the means to get help. What happens to these people? Usually they self medicate by smoking, drinking, suicide. The word of wisdom breakers are victimized and stuck in a vicious cycle. Can't get baptized or hold a Temple recommend. Leaders need to be helpful, not punish those that can't keep the word of wisdom. Never should have been made a commandment. But use only with caution.

I know many bishops who use fast offering money to help people who are struggling to get the professional help they need. The church has many addiction recovery programs that are free to those involved. I am sorry this is your experience. I know that the word of Wisdom is a commandment for a reason. God sees what we cannot and he has given that commandment for his eternal purposes. Although, the science is pretty clear that staying away from these addictive substances leads to a better, longer, and happier life. Most importantly if people with these habits need help I know they can get the help they need from God and the Church. All things are possible with God's help!
