    Minority privilege. If you happen to have the "correct" skin tone, you get lesser sentences, much better service and care, and general priority, because of your "victim" status. Just so that you know, in fact, the police refused to release a picture of the suspect for a very long time, because of fears of "racism". And most likely, he was being offered safe harbour by people of his community. Happened already time and time again.

  • @HavianEla

    While I understand your thought process as to why, many of those workers actively want that life insurance. It sucks that the company benefits at ALL, but when danger is a part of the job, those workers often times want assurance that their families will be given a small fortune if something happens to them. My dad was a lineman, which can be VERY dangerous, and he’d seen and been through some rough stuff. Seen people crushed, set on fire, get in accidents, etc. When he was working, he had a $100k life insurance policy. Didn’t know it till after he died, but they kept a small insurance on him for the family. My mom got $4k and each of his children $2k. Not a lot, but because of it, we were able to give him a proper memorial, though we were all incredibly heartbroken we had to cremate him instead of being able to bury him due to being unable to afford a casket. I COMPLETELY understand your point, like I said, the company shouldn’t get a dime of the life insurance, but it IS good that it’s offered.

    For real. I worked in the pharmaceutical field (technical assistant) were you do lots of lab work including identity tests of the substances you use for solutions, drops, creams etc. you make. I have mad respect for what I call The Devil's Soup, sulfuric acid. When I had to show interns who to do some of the tests, talk about safety and so on I would alway let a dop of it fall on a piece of paper (burns a hole into it the second it hits it) and tell them that this would happen to their skin if they got complacent and didn't wear protective glasses and the damn gloves. And don't get me started on hydrofluoric acid. I'm so glad that's no longer a thing you would come in contact with in a lab environment. This stuff is pure evil if a substance could be called evil. I'm actually suprised it isn't used more often to commit murder. Maybe it's just difficult to purchase.

If you end up in the river and nobody sees it along much of its length your all but guaranteed to drown. It's not overly surprising that through a combination of misadventure and intentionally taking their own lives that in a city that large a lot of people end up losing their lives to it.

Some overlook child abuse (I know a certain dad who let a man regularly beg his son for massages when at his workplace). They may be friendly, maybe not violent, but may be extremely exploitative. Be careful around these types.

    An interesting story about the ezedi case. About a month or so ago I got a train from Sheffield to Manchester and when we got to the platform at Manchester piccadilly at around 11 30pm, there was over 20 armed police on the platform. We weren't allowed off the train and then all of a sudden armed police were on the train with rifles, screaming at us to sit down. They then ran into the adjacent carriage, around 10 metres from me and aggressively arrested someone, continuing to scream, even louder now. I had no idea what was going on at the time but I found out the day after that there had been a tip that Ezedi was on the train. It turned out to be a false alarm in the end but it felt very real😅. There's plenty of articles online about the arrest

She was even on the phone with 911 when the house blew up...I wish I could remember what network had ran it, 2020,48hours, Dateline,etc... Honestly speaking, and without exaggeration, the 911 call that was placed by the social worker to the police department during Josh Powell's scheduled visit is one of the most infuriating things I have ever listened to. I do not believe I have ever been able to listen to it all in one sitting. Every time I try, I have to take a break and calm down for a bit. It's hard to say whether the outcome would have been any different had dispatch taken the call seriously, and perhaps it wouldn't have changed anything, but the way it was handled is unacceptable regardless.

  • @SerenDipity64711

    @SerenDipity64711

    I agree. The dispatcher kept asking the same questions as if he wasn't paying attention to what that lady was trying to convey. The times she repeated the name Josh Powell, was so infuriating. There was no urgency in the dispatcher's voice he did not believe anything serious was likely happening. So awful and tragic.

  • @scarletamazon3455

    @scarletamazon3455

    Ай бұрын

    I've also listened to, and had my heart broken, by that call. The dispatcher was so awful, and especially with what we know now, it's even more horrific to listen to. But honestly, it wouldn't have made a difference even if police were sent immediately. That monster destroyed his innocent children immediately - there wasn't time to save the children, even if a police car had been on the same street, it's unlikely they could have changed that outcome. He'd planned this, and had no intention of letting the children survive. The only difference it may have made- possibly, is that they may have been able to capture him and make him face judgement rather than taking the coward's way out after he brutally wiped out his family. But even that is unlikely, since a SWAT/Hostage team don't just blindly storm into a barracaded home with a madman who potentially had two children held hostage. They would have to establish a perimeter and attempt to talk him into releasing the kids and turning himself in, since barging into hostage situations can wind up with the hostages paying the price, and the team outside wouldn't know whether he'd already harmed the children or not. So either way, he was determined to do what he did, and while the call was horrifying - I have zero doubt that he was going to carry out his plans, even if the social worker had made it into the house, he would have taken her life too. The only thing that may have prevented this tragedy - and SHOULD have happened and thus prevented this tragedy - is if he'd been locked away after he murdered Susan, and never had access to his children again. The legal system failed here.

    @@SerenDipity64711 I agree, it's such a huge failure of justice! I'm guessing the prosecutor wouldn't go ahead with charges because of no body being found - wanted the police to gather more evidence so they could be more sure of a conviction - sometimes they do take years to actually charge someone, even when it's so obvious they did it. Maybe the idea that he also had his brother helping him, which was likely, and also likely why the brother opted out, from the police pressure and fear of being caught, that might have had them worried that the defence would blame the brother and Josh would get away with it? Maybe they hoped that once the boys were a bit older, they'd be able to testify against him? I don't know, I haven't looked into this case for a long time, it was a while ago and so awful that I haven't wanted to deep dive into it, and I'm not a lawyer or police officer, but there was so much wrong with his story that you'd think, at the very least, there'd be enough cause to make sure the children were never around him again. If they'd done just that part, it might have been so different.

    Sadly, it isn't just men. Alarmingly, according to statistics, children are actually just as likely to be killed by their mothers as their fathers. A channel known as The Misery Machine covers many of these cases in a very respectful way, giving voices to many children who often don't get a voice of their own in the mess of "he said, she said." It's really upsetting to see people under the false impression it is one gender or another. Understanding the basic facts is an important first step to fixing the problem. It's not a case of disturbed men, it's disturbed *people* who don't see their children as human, don't value them over themselves and whatever issues exist in their own lives, and who should have never been parents.

    I think Ezedi's real plan was to immediately return to Newcastle, where his 'peers' (you know what I mean) would help him out. He lived in a certain community of likeminded people up there. It seems the plan went awry and he ended up injuring himself with his own weapon, resulting in him crashing his car in the escape attempt and now having to run. He probably went to King's Cross to see about a train up north, except he was now too recognisable and KGX was too busy and too well surveilled, the tickets were probably too expensive (he had driven to London in his own car), and I think the last NCL-bound train of the night was probably already gone. He then makes his way back to the scene for some reason, then just aimlessly wanders London, lost, in a daze, likely in total agony and unable to see properly, and knowing just how utterly screwed he is. He didn't know anyone in London other than his brother, and he couldn't have sought proper medical help because hospitals etc. would now be on high alert and armed police would have come for him. There was only one way that could end.

    1. Condensate fires don't reach to the sky, they hug the ground as it is heavier than air. A ship near module C at the start of the fires reported a blue flash coming from under the module. 2. The firefighting pumps that automatically drew seawater to fight fires was set to manual whenever divers were working as they would have been sucked in by the powerful pumps. There was no automatic system to control the pumps in the presence of divers, even though it was recommended. At the time, the safety of platforms such as Piper Alpha was under the energy department, not Health and Safety. 3. Divers that worked at Piper Alpha had a platform from where they would enter the North Sea. The platform was made of metal sheets with holes punched through them that gripped the divers' feet to prevent them from slipping. But this grating tended to hurt the feet of the divers as they changed from their work clothes to their diving suits and vice versa. So they placed rubber matting on those grates. This platform was under module B. Piper Alpha could have survived the fire and the death toll could have been a lot less, if not for this matting. On the night of the fire, this matting was still there. Burning crude oil, which would have otherwise simply fallen to the North Sea if the matting was not there not pooled onto this matting (there are photos which show this). Above this, was the natural gas pipe to Tartan. This fire now heated and weakened the pipe. The massive fireball we see at 30:35 is the Tartan pipe failing and all of the natural gas coming from Tartan being ignited. This increase in heat began to melt Piper Alpha at a rate faster than what the initial fires could have done so.

    The Piper Alpha incident used to be taught during permit training for my oil and gas plant to show the importance of permitting, permission, redundancy and following chain of command. As far as we are told, and what is known, it was a permit (the document that tradesmen get signed to commence work from operations, who are the equipment owners) was missed stating the equipment was unavailable.

They refused to deport him after committing SA, and they refused to release a picture or description of him in this case because they feared getting backlash over supposed “racism”. Ultimately, he believed he was in the moral right to do what he did. Keep in mind the culture of Afghanistan where women are treated worse than rats, and he brought that mentality with him.
