THE Disc Golf Workout Program - From a Strength Coach

Спорт

This workout program is a collaboration between multiple coaches to provide a routine to reduce injury rates, improve general physical fitness levels, and add strength that we KNOW will add distance to your backhand and forehand in disc golf. It is provided completely free of charge and can be shared or altered in any way you see fit.

Hmm if coiling causes pain I would do some exercises that simulate the movement but at low intensity and then slowly work the intensity up.

If you want to strengthen the mid back, deadlifts (with proper form, please watch some videos on how to do it first) and rows (seated cable rows, standing barbell rows, dumbell rows, whatever you prefer) should help tremendously.

I am hoping that you include any mods for us old guys, 60+. Recovery takes longer but I’m clueless as to how other workout aspects change. As a lifelong cyclist upper body strength has never been much of a priority. I try to alternate bike rides with throwing.

Also modifications for each exercise. For example, if you’re working out at home and don’t have a bench, but you have some dumbbells, you can still do a hip bridge and then press the dumbbells up. Something like that. Either way, having examples of the workouts would be excellent. 🙂

Overall the only thing that changes is MRV eg. recovery You should still focus on strength and progressive overload. More autoregulation is needed as you monitor your CNS.

Could you do a 200' throw to get a 300' throw? I think that's key. I see how to throw over 400' but how do I get to 300' haha my tech disc speed is at 47 can't get past that. Thanks

Every hour spent getting stronger is an hour you didn't spend getting better at disc golf. And every hour you spend throwing makes you a stronger player.

Until you blow your shoulder up because you have no muscle to support the joint you're smashing on 100 times a day... The pros are all lifting quite a bit in the off season, and maintaining during the season. The era of JUST playing disc golf while competing at a high level is already over.
