If they found lots of blood soaked paper towels, someone was bleeding and it seemed cops cared about everything except that this young man vanished , and they moved on.... I can see how awful it would be and it would tear a family apart to see proof one of them had killed a cousin and other family members helped and covered it over for years. Devastating to have lost a son and now hes killed by his relative. Just sad for all of them.

I believe so too. As for the family's denial, we can't even begin to fathom what they are feeling/going through. Realistically speaking, that has got to be one of the most difficult things in the world to accept. This whole thing is horrible, to be betrayed in the absolute worst way imaginable by the people in your life that you trust the most. What's heartbreaking is to think what Dylan's last thoughts must have been.

Steve Jones PianoGesang I wouldn’t blame the parents for trying to ignore the obvious probable solution. Can you imagine what such a situation can do to your psyche? You have to live with the suspects on a daily basis, you can’t believe, that such a horrible thought can actually be a reality, this solution would damage the family once again irreparably... If you know anything about how our brains work... - your mind wants to protect you from hurting at all cost... Their behavior is very easily explicable and they deserve more understanding than this :/...

Denial is such a weird mechanism, isn't it? They may know, but their conscious mind seems not to be able to deal with it, so even though the reality is staring them straight in the face, they can't see it, just the narrative their subconscious has chosen to cause them the least pain. That's the only thing I can imagine which would make them behave this way.. Even the brother, vehemently denying any suspicion on the cousins. 🙄 Also the girlfriend had something off about her... Until I started watching true crime, I wouldn't have believed anyone in my family could do something like this. It's only because I've become aware of how many people get murdered by someone they know (including ex-boyfriend/ex-girlfriend), that I'd even consider such a possibility. Fortunately (or not), the only family members who have died have been from cancer.

After his arrest, a sergeant at the city “drunk tank” refused to take him in. As a consequence, he was dragged to a police wagon and transported to a nearby alley where he was dumped and abandoned. Mr. Paul subsequently died in the alley from hypothermia. Mr. Paul was a New Brunswick Mi’kmaq native, who had a lengthy history of homelessness and alcoholism." So, the cops get a complaint about domestic violence and don't bother to show up for several hours. The mother phones to report her missing son but because she lives in another province she is told she can't report him missing. So the mom calls the "possible" killer and asks him to report her sons disappearance, he ignores her request. Family gathers and sets up a search. The last known person to see the victim alive refuses to help in the search and goes skydiving after making a comment that the victim may be buried in a construction site. The cops show up at the families search and ask for news. The cops say with a stupid smirk on their face that none of Colin's actions make him a suspect. This is the real reason why this crime has gone unsolved for 9 years, because the cops were lazy from day 1. Moral of the story is, don't go missing in Edmonton because the cops don't care. Look at their statistics. Pathetic.

1.) How long after the neighbour's disturbance call did the police find Dylan's wallet? 2-3.) On which neighbour's yard was it found, and from that point, how far were the K-9 dogs able to track his foot path? 4.) How long had the wallet been there? 5.) Were the police able to check it for fingerprints? 6.) How well known to the respective community were these five young adults? 7.) What kind of reputation had that house? 8.) What kind of vehicles did they drive/ride, if any? *We need to know more about Colin and his brother's tracks since the time of the 'disturbance.' 9-10.) As for the neighbour who called police about that disturbance - how well did he know the occupants, that house? 11.) Who, in the community, has a favourable view of that house? 12.) What do they "think" of that house? 13.) Had anyone else witnessed the disturbance? 14.) Have police ever needed to visit the home in the past, in response to a complaint or disturbance? If so, who made the call(s)? Those are my questions for now. There's so little information. I'm going to watch it again. It might be Colin who is responsible for this, otherwise, it might be that someone "enticed" Dylan in to their home, or into their car: "Are you sure you don't want a ride?" or "Are you sure you don't want to come in?" He might have even been found unconscious, or in some way vulnerable. It seems that Colin does not want to be held to account for this. He and the others might have been really drunk; done something really bad. Or, it might be that they sent him off in a really bad state, impaired, injured, vulnerable. And he would have been naïve, only 21. Of the remaining four: one of them by now would have said something; blown a whistle.... I don't know.

The family obviously knows each other better that any of us on the outside ever could but I also believe that they’re (especially his parents and siblings) genuinely good people who don’t want to think that a blood relative could have done this. With that said sometimes a stranger with no ties to a case has a better perspective and in this instance I would heavily lean on the oldest cousin, there’s a reason why he didn’t answer the door when the police later arrived at the house, and it’s the same reason why he wouldn’t allow Dylan’s girlfriend to come over to get her things, Dylan’s lifeless body was still there because the cousins was terrified and didn’t know what to do with the body. He also never reported his cousin missing because he wanted no connection with the police whatsoever, it’s like he was hoping it would all just go away if he ignored it, and thanks to absolute terrible police work that’s exactly what happened, that combined with the immediate family not suspecting that he could have done it, since the family didn’t push for it the police didn’t pursue it, plain and simple. After this much time the chances of getting answers is slim to none now, especially since his body has never been found and more than likely never will be found, at this point you’d need a miracle to get the truth.

Unfortunatley very good EVIDENCE is needed for a prosecutor to file a case.... there is only ONE chance to convict... if there is lack of good evidence, the perp goes free and cannot be prosecuted for that criem again, not even if great new evidence is found afterwards

Lol...that sounds more like resentment at having to play the role of parent to a grown adult man who liked/was used to sponging off others. Not a motive to kill...motive to claim 'I don't give a crap...I am not going after him' ...b/c Dylan is not his responsibility. If Edmonton is a place that people frequently go missing, then it's entirely possible that someone offered to give him a ride then tried to get cash from him or something then leave him for dead somewhere.

The problem with that (in any disappearance case) is that when the body is found there's the chance of the perp's DNA being on it. Even if the remains are skeletal, it's safer for a perp to not fess up to anything, even anonymously, because legally if there is no body found then there is no proven crime . So yes, it would morally be the right thing to do, but would only create potential problems for the perp.

@@MatthewNY94 actually they can still put together a case based on circumstantial evidence. They don’t have to find a body anymore. People got so sick of criminals getting away with murder because they hide the body that we are not buying that anymore. (When we know there’s been a crime committed.) They should’ve just taken cadaver dogs into that house and sprayed luminal everywhere and they could’ve put together a case that way. Then separate all of the housemates and question them until one of them cracks.Case solved. The cousins killed their own brother.
